A useful anthology of literary philosophy and criticism. Definitely handy to have around. The intros and footnotes were generally helpful, though sometimes the editor was a bit too brief and unnecessarily (I thought) snarky, especially in his intro to Sidney.

I've read as much of this book as required for class. It gets four stars for its anthologizing quality and zero stars for translation & editing. Any book which excerpts Plato's Republic without retaining the dialogue format or contextualizing the excerpt gets a negative review from me.
