I made some of the candy recipes, some of the cookie recipes, and have plans to make some of the Christmas morning breakfast recipes. I love a good chewy ginger molasses cookie and this book delivered! Recipes were easy to follow and the book itself is gorgeous. I love that there is a little bit of everything and it makes for a cookie plate that is full to overflowing with different tastes, textures, and colors. Bakers may also enjoy: The Cookie Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum (my family favorite!), Christmas Cookies: More than 60 recipes for adorable festive bakes by Hannah Miles, or Good housekeeping Christmas cookies: 75 irresistible holiday treats. Rarely am I so attached to a library book that I don't want to give it back. This is a very special cookbook. Enticing pictures, a wide variety of recipes, and best yet-- every recipe I tried tasted exceptional. I plan to buy this one for sure, and look forward to using it every holiday season. Favorites included the crispy marshmallow brownies, candied pecans, and stovetop wassail.

Not for the novice. I loved everything about this book but I feel like you really need to know what you are doing with this book. The pictures were very pretty. I would buy this book to try stuff, but let’s be real, it wouldn’t be pretty.

A beautifully-photographed cookbook filled with unique and favorite recipes. The stepped-out instructions and recipes are easy to navigate. I appreciated the gift-giving tips shared by this talented mother-daughter team.

A very fun read!

I borrowed this book from the 'new arrivals' shelf at the local public library.

Beginning with a short introduction about ingredients, chocolates, and baking equipment makes this a solid choice for baking at Christmas. The recipes and photos are mouth watering. Most of the recipes are for desserts, but there are breakfast treats, drinks, and salty snacks also. Especially helpful are the online resources for ordering outstanding ingredients.

Includes expected, favorite, and ethnic recipes using mostly ordinary ingredients with modern equipment and techniques without becoming too gourmet.

This book has a lot of classics and gives many a bit of a twist. The illustrations are great, making the recipes come alive and so very mouth watering to see. The instructions are clear and straight forward. The authors even add a little stamp to the recipes that are quick and easy in case you’re pressed for time. I love Laura’s Notes on Ingredients and Working with Chocolate sections near the beginning of the book. It’s a good refresher for those of us that haven’t baked in awhile and an excellent brief for those new to it. Best bit (other than the recipes) is they list their sources! . (I LOVE King Arthur’s Flour!) Hands down one of the best Christmas baking books I’ve ever read.

If your looking for a variety of Christmas receipes (sweet, savoury, drinks) in one book, this one is a great choice. The receipes definitely seem more for experienced bakers/cooms, but even newbies can follow these step by step receipes. Definitely will be adding some of these goodies to my rotation for the family to try.
