Published in 1997 so not completely up to date but this just so happens to be the only history book I can get my hands on at the moment. Written for students, clearly (grades 7-12ish); quick, easy read but not too dumbed down. Nice basic overview of the Czech Republic. Very political in nature when I'd wanted more historical information.
