Rate this book
Through magic gone totally wrong, Wren and her cousins wind up on Gecire, sister dimension to the Crystal Kingdom.

Wren McClure, journalist by day, romance writer by night, has a hard time facing the world’s ever-increasing responsibilities. Her life is already pretty messy. She doesn’t have time to think of falling in love, but she has no say in matters of her heart. Not when a big, sexy shifter decides she’s his.

Xenos Woodsky, alpha of the Gnoleon fae, has endured over three hundred years of self-induced solitude for a mistake that killed many in his tribe. When his mate portals into his reclusive life, he’s forced into taking action. It’s time to return to his people. It’s time to claim the woman he wants.

Old enemies come back and the tribe is forced to move. They need everyone’s help, especially Xenos. Xenos has to decide if he’s going to face up for past actions with his people and save the day, or lose his mate and his tribe.

What if shifters and magic were real? Wren McClure, journalist by day, romance writer by night has contemplated that question many a time. When attempting to go home Wren and her cousins are misdirected to a dimension where shifters and magic are real but so is the danger that goes with it. Wren is a whole lot stronger than she knows and this story is going to prove it to her and anyone who has ever questioned it. Sexy alpha men, hot sex and magic. This is a total vacation for the mind.

Milly Taiden you really can't help but adore her books, the stories filled with amazing characters you can't help but love. Savage King, just think if you happened on a whole new world! A world that had always been make-believe.

Sometimes we push the past so far back we're sure we don't want to ever face it, Wren and Xeno they are almost two peas in a pod when it comes to not facing their skeletons. Where there is good there is always bad, and as their situation changes, they will have to come to rely on each other and in doing so face their paths. But maybe not facing them alone will be what makes the difference,

This whole series has been so much fun and the characters amazing. sexy and sassy girl, sexy alpha with the need to come together to make it.. all come together.

The story was on a move progressed fast and seemed to jump a bit in a couple of places. But Milly's talent just makes the story. Funny, yeah you're going to laugh, passionate, you're going to have an aw moment or two, a bit of danger that will have you flipping the pages to see what comes next. The whole series is very worth reading, though each book could be read alone. Enjoy

It started with a bang

What I wouldn’t do to enter a world where all my wildest fantasies come alive. I might not get to physically enter that world, but with each new book by this author I find myself whisked away and another fantasy fulfilled. I love this newest book, each character has there own set of worries and insecurities but when they work together they can make magic happen. It’s a good thing as the author keeps the action and danger going until the end of the book. I can’t wait to read all about what this foursome find on their upcoming journey, but I am sure it’s going to be worth the wait.

Milly does an great job continuing the Crystal Kingdom series. We start out with three cousins who are trying to go home after a visit to the Crystal Kingdom. Little do they know they didn't just teleport to a different place on Earth but another dimension.

I loved the camaraderie and love between these three cousins. They constantly made me laugh with what was said when they thought Xenos couldn't understand them. I highly recommend this story and if you haven't read the previous ones in this series, you really should go and read them. They are all amazing. I could not put them down and I continue to look forward to where Milly takes us next.

Eager to return home, Wren and her cousins try to port from the Crystal Kingdom on their own and end up in another dimension. Danger lurks from a known enemy of the Crystal Kingdom.

Xenos has been on his own for several hundred years. He believes that his people hate him and vows to never return to his face form. That all changes when he meets his mate, Wren.

It was kind of funny in the beginning when she couldn’t understand him and they basically communicated through charades. Each of them has their own personal issues, but by supporting each other, they are able to over come them.

Absolutely hilarious read. Wren and her cousins were funny as hell, when I tell you that I wasn't expecting to laugh out loud liked I did. Add in the intrigue, action, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end and you have a helluva read. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I received a free copy via booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

So we are introduced into a new world of shifters and as always it was a good start to a spin off world/planet. The characters were well developed and it was interesting having the communication issues at first. The shifters/fae and all the magic is always unique which gives an edge as it’s not the same ol same.

Good story

I started reading the clean versions mostly by accident. This book wasn’t available yet so went with the adult. It seems the adult themes are a crutch the author uses. The language is much more crude and doesn’t progress the story almost like it was added to fulfill a word count. Some words in those sections are just lazy. The clean versions of these books are far better written and much more enthralling.

Wren is transported to another realm from the Crystal Kingdom. Xenos isn’t ready to face his past. Neither is Wren. Together sparks fly. But unless they resolve and face their pasts they won’t find what they’re looking for. Wonderful worlds and the storyline will seize you and not let go. Excellent read.

This author keeps you into the magical world of Fae and human. The 5th book in this series is a great edition to the ever growing kingdom's.

When I first started reading this book I had no idea I would laugh so hard. Wren is so funny. She had me rolling almost on the floor. There actually are people just like her in today's society. Her meeting of her mate and their Adventure will keep you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait for the next installment of the series. These girls in this family will have you dying in laughter. I highly recommend this book

Wren and her cousins have made a bad decision. One that lands them in a different realm. Once their Wren is almost eaten by a plant that is until a furry creature saves her. Xenos should just leave the weird human women to their fates. Only problem with that is the one they call Wren calls to him. He will help them to his old village and then return to the woods where he belongs. Except when dark forces come for the woman he will have to choose. Face his past or embrace his future. I absolutely love this series!

I love Milly’s books! Always a great story! Xenos is a tigron that’s living in solitude in the jungle who saved Wren when she landed in his dimension by accident with her cousins. Xenos has a past action he’s got to come to terms with so he can help his people and have his mate. Touching story with plenty of action, steam, magic, and humor!

Wren & Zenos

Wren and her cousins are on there way back to their world after a birthday surprise to the Crystal Kingdom. It sure doesn't look like home -- cause it isn't. After some close calls, Zenos shows himself in his human form. Yes, human, he's a shifter and Wren just happens to write about them so she's less surprised than he expects.

The rest of the story is dangerous, touching, steamy, and a great read in the wonderful world the author has created. Will Wren live through the dangers of the world, the enemies? Will Zenos get past his guilt to help her and save his people?

Another good one. Don't miss this new set of stories.

New hilarious meaning to lost in translation lol. Love these no nonsense ladies though they know a bit of the wonders of magic they're forced to come to terms that they may have more than meets the eyes themselves. But no one said it would be in jungle.. Kansas this is not Toto.

Once again Milly Taiden has created a brand new world that sucks the reader in! You can't help but love the main characters! My only complaint is the story feels like its missing something. The ending to me is more of a cliff hanger than an actual ending. But overall a really fun read that I could not put down!

I love Tilley's books you cannot do wrong with her stories. Although this is the first book I read in this story I have gone back and started the series from the book 1 and so far have not been disappointed. Let me tell you though this is a cliff hanger.

Like previous books in the series. I felt it very busy. Fast paced. Slightly chaotic. Alot left un said and un answered. However I loved how the story was souly about the main to characters. Left on a cliffhanger in my personal view, gave so much left open and the reader wanting to read the next. Another avid fan and will always follow millys books. This series was my first time try and the mythical type genre and I have to say I'm a believer.

This is a cute paranormal story, but it was just a bit too far-fetched for me (even for a fantasy!). It was an entertaining read, though, and I liked that it featured fae and other unique aliens/creatures, instead of just shifters. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.

I liked that Wren seemed to instinctively know that Xenos' tigron wouldn't hurt her. She thought shifters were fictional, but somehow still knew that his animal was not a danger to her.

I thought it was funny how Xenos could understand the women at first, but they couldn't understand him. It was funny how they said things they wouldn't have said if they knew he understood them, and even funnier when they realized he had understood them all along. I also thought it was cute how the women kept using human slang that Xenos and his tribe didn't understand.

I liked both Wren and Xenos, and thought they were good together. I also liked some of the secondary characters.

One other thing really bothered me, and it is minor, but it is a pet peeve of mine. The picture on the book cover should look like the characters are described in the book. In the book, Xenos is described as having black hair and cocoa-colored skin -- but the man on the cover is white, with light brown hair. This may not be the author's fault, but it still bugs me.

Even though this story had a few minor issues, I will continue the series -- because it was a fun read.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I was a little lost in this story. The majority of this book does not take place in the Crystal Kingdom and the story was more than half-way through before we really get some details about where the heroine and her cousins ended up. I never really understood why the cousins decided they just had to leave the Crystal Kingdom rather than waiting just a bit longer, none of them seemed to have a serious reason to rush back.

Wren was an interesting character, but both Lilah and Daphne were a bit one-dimensional. Although I eventually understood why Xenos left the tribe, I couldn't understand why he was gone so long (neither his sister nor his friend went looking for him??). Also, his acceptance back into the tribe was very anti-climatic. I didn't really get the whole "mate" thing within the tribe. The bad guy arc was very unfinished. I get that this story is meant to continue in the next story, but still it felt like a "oh yeah, we need bad guys" kind of moment. I did like some of the alone scenes with Xenos and Wren, they were cute together and make each other better.

I liked the characters and the general plot - the idea of the story. I've read many Milly Taiden books and this one not my favorite. I wish I had better things to say! This story just seems very unfinished. As with many of her stories there's not just hardship for the main characters, there's also antagonists in the story.  However, this story goes out of its way to stay out of the bad guys reach. Quite literally! Also, the first WTF moment I had for the heroine Wren, when I thought surely she was going to let someone have it with both barrels, she runs off crying!! Without saying a word!! So that was another WTF moment.

During the story it becomes known that Wren has magical powers, instead of Wren showing her magical chops and helping the Gnoleon fae fight the bad guy and maybe defeating him - she makes dinner tables for everyone!

Also, I've known Milly to be kind of kinky with the sex scenes and the ones in Savage King weren't hum drum, but I don't feel like they were up to her standards.

I recommend this book to stay on track for the Crystal Kingdom series, but honestly not her best work. Sorry.

This is Book 5 in the Crystal Kingdom. It can be read as a stand-alone but you can understand the background better if you have read the other books in the series. I really enjoyed reading this one. Wren and her cousins have had the magic stones go wacky on them and they didn’t make it back to Earth like they were supposed to have gone. Wren is a journalist by day and a romance writer by night and all she can think of is some of the stupid moves that her characters have made in her books, like the scary horror movies where the dumb girls all get killed. Then they meet up with Xenos, the tiger who then changes into a man. Yep, this is just like the books that Wren likes to read and write. There’s a lot of things going on that keeps your interest in the storyline. There’s danger, magic, new people to meet and hard decisions to make all in one story. What more can you ask for, right? I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from BookSprout.

A must read! I love to read books from Milly Taiden. Savage King is the fifth book in The Crystal Kingdom series. This story is about Wren and Xenos. Xenos, alpha of the Gnoleon fae, has endured over three hundred years of self-induced solitude over a mistake that killed many in his tribe. Wren and her cousins have popped through a portal on their way back to Earth after a surprise visit to their relatives. All of these books are full of excitement and adventure in totally different worlds. It can be read as a stand-alone but you can understand the background better if you have read the other books in the series. Another awesome book from Milly Taiden. Can't wait to read more from this series. Keep up the amazing work Milly!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading ALL of Milly Taiden books. You will not be disappointed in them. I know I wasn't. They kept me in intrigued in each and every story.

Ok first of all, let me just say that I would read the previous books before reading this one or you may be lost! I didn't realize that it was part of a series and went back read the previous books and then restarted this one because I didn't understand some of the things that were talked about. With that being said, this book is definitely well worth a read! There is laughter (lots of laughter that got me some weird looks from my family LOL), romance, and as always with this author-great characters! It is very fast paced and will keep you reading from start to finish. My only issue was that I felt like it was a cliff-hanger instead of a story with a complete ending. Now I don't know if that means the next book in this series will pick up where this one left off, but I hope it does to some degree. But even with that, definitely worth reading in my opinion!
