Bob Sorge is “the speaker who can’t talk”—that is, he is reduced to a whisper because of a debilitating vocal injury he suffered over 20 years ago. Through the journey, God has given him an empowering message that explores God’s purposes in fiery trials. It’s not the fire that changes you but your pursuit of God in the fire that changes you. Bob has a unique way of helping us process our journey so we stay in the race and overcome. Whether you’re reading one of his books or listening to him, you’re about to receive a message from the heart of God that will strengthen your faith and draw you into greater intimacy with Jesus.

I'm giving this book 5 stars because it was a book that challenges the apathetic lifestyle that we live. Bob calls us forth to embrace a lifestyle of passion for Jesus in such a way that we have to live a life determined to be in His presence, to walk away from the distractions that surround us and be in His Face.

I was left with not finding out what happened after his weeks in solitude staying in the word and seeking the answers for his voice situation after surgery. I needed the understanding of what came from this. Was he able to continue preaching or did he leave the ministry. This was my first book that I have read.
To many books end with not revealing the answering the questions you thought they were going to help you with.
It did have good insight in other areas.

Halfway through and I am considering the whole experience as a "Phillip Test". You'll have to reference page 79 to fully understand the significance of that, but basically it's how well we think like Jesus instead of using our own understanding of life. We can only begin to think like Him by continuing to stay "IN HIS FACE" because real relationship requires face-to-face intimacy.

This is a call to pressing in to His presence and allowing yourself to be shaped more into His image. Written after his medical crisis, it’s an honest look at questioning when we don’t understand His ways. Having questions is fine; it’s what we do with them: run from God in anger/doubt or draw near and wait to hear His heart. It’s a look at understanding God’s character and worshipping Him in spite of circumstances.
My evening devotional for a couple of weeks at the start of the year. I've always enjoyed his writings and this one has a number of nuggets throughout each chapter. Giving it 3 stars instead of 4 because I had difficulty seeing how the last chapter fit with everything that had gone before. The book ended flat for me after what had been an encouraging and challenging read.

I was blessed by the book and was able to relate to what the author was saying, in particular when he took time out to be be with God. At points I wondered if he had read my book due to the similarities. A great book. I did find myself drifting a little towards the end, but it was still a good read!

Really enjoyed the parts that touched and convicted me, but not sure I agreed with everything completely. Good food for thought, either way.
