A poor short story
It was written for elementary level and difficult to believe. A real marine would puke reading it. The Marines I served would.

Poorly researched
Who did the research for this book? When the Marines landed on Guadalcanal on August 7th, 1942 the assault was so unexpected that there was very little defense by the Japanese. The rifle the fleet marines carried at the time was the Springfield 1903, not the famous M1 Garrand. Which by the way held 8 rounds, not 10 as written.

Okay but…
The idea was to take you back to that time and place. Started with the correct logo then slipped to modern words and phrases. Disappointing action scenes lacked continuity. Get shot 3 times , stop and fight a swordsman with a picked up sword while bleeding out. Come on man

American Swordsman wins the day.
Enjoyed this book and the action throughout. Wish it had been a little longer as the battles and victories continued to drive the Japanese from the South Pacific.

A very impressive and heroic story
This is a great and impressive story of courage and heroism of the Marine during a landing in the Pacific during World War II. A very inspiring story.

A few inaccuracies like the Garand M1 with 10 shots instead of the eight. But otherwise a believable story. Not bad
