Wow! What a pilot episode.

Rainey is a hunter which means she has a bit of a supernatural boost that allows her to hunt down and kill vampires. She's also a police detective during the day. This aids her ability to gain more information about the players she's hunting but also prevent humans from finding out vampires exist. Ever since her sister Delaney was killed, Rainey has been driven to uphold her sister's legacy even though she originally wanted nothing to do with the hunter life. Now, being

Solid UF. Slow to medium burn, but with some nice tension building between the characters. I do wish we got to know a bit more about Elijah, as the entire book was a bit short for the number of attacks/explosions/ plot twists and turns. It came off as rushed and a little chaotic (eh—Delores who?).

Looking forward to the next installment.

Caution ⚠️ Stupidity abounds in generous heaps. A dose for each character, with seconds and thirds, all complementary.

In fact, if TSTL came as a character, then her name would be Rainey. She was so incredibly stupid, oh mi gosh!

Let’s start with hunting vampires without knowing the slightest about the structure of the vampire society. Then this moron went on hunts blindly. There was no casing the joint, no gathering intel, no partners, no exit plan for when shit hits the fan, hell half the time

I feel like most vampire stories fall into three categories.
You have your Twilight and young adult paranormal romance stories.
You have your Anne Rice and Stephen King horror stories.
And then you get your vigilante, vampire assassin, action stories. Blood Hunt falls under this category.
There is nothing soft or sweet about Vampire Hunteress Rainey Astor... or sexy Irish Vampire Elijah Hawthorne for that matter. But that's not necessarily a bad thing! Both characters are interesting and the way th

That was pretty damn near perfect! It was a LITTLE slow at the beginning but I am So glad I gave it a chance. It’s a relatively fast moving plot after about 40% with a nice build up of sexual tension.

Well, who'd have thought it? I've found the holy grail. A vampire book in haven't already read that is really good!

To be honest, there is nothing massively new to the genre in this, but what UF does it does very well. Forbidden romance, danger, anti heroes and heroines, excellent chemistry, fast paced, slow burn - there's a lot to love in this.

If, like me, you're always in the search for decent, new Urban Fantasy you havent already read, then try this!

This is a GREAT story

OMG, no no no no no!!! I got so caught up that I didn't realize when I turned the page it ended and I actually yelled out, my husband stirred from sleep asking me if I was ok. No, I'm not ok, what the hell? This is a really good story that builds, so give it some time. Where you begin and where it ends is a crazy ride. Rainey is a good character, she took a minute to grow on me but I did like her, she's just very guarded. Elijah, is a good character as well. Has lots of acti

the entire time I was reading this book it was giving me Budget Halfway to the Grave vibes. Which isn't bad. I loved that series and the fact that it was drawing so many parallels was actually exciting to me. If you've read the Night Huntress series let me outline the start of this book for you and see if It starts ringing any bells

Epic & action packed novel!

Holy heck, I LOVED this book!

It gave me Supernatural (the TV show) vibes! The writing style was phenomenally addictive and the darkness and brutality of this world made for a capturing setting.

Rainey was such a strong MC, and her character planning of her being a detective as well as a supernatural hunter worked amazingly. Elijah is definitely book boyfriend material; broody, attractive and supernatural, trying to make amends for his past? Yes plz.

Rainey is a vampire Hunter. The last in her families line after her sister’s gruesome murder.
Elijah is a powerful vampire who rescues Rainey after a hunt goes bad.
Can Rainey put aside what she has been trained to do all her life?
Can she reconcile her growing feelings for something she is sworn to kill?

Vampires ... need I say more? Well, normally no, but in this case I do. This is not your typical vampire novel. Blood hunt is so much more. Magic, witches, a hunter who is more than meets the ey

This is book one of the Vampire Huntress Chronicles series and tells the story of Detective Rainey Astor, the last of her line. She comes from a family of Hunters and lost her parents at a young age and was then raised by her older sister Delaney and their grandmother. But her sister was killed by shifters some two years ago, on the very day she made detective, aged thirty five. She works as a police detective in the town of Billings, during the day and then spends her nights as a vampire hunter ...more

After reading this book by Jessica Wayne I can honestly say I am shocked at how much talent she has… She has left me speechless yet again and I know we’ve only just began this journey with this series. This book is filled with so many twists and turns that you just don’t see coming, but when you get to them it’s like you’ve been hit in the fact because you just wasn’t expecting them. I thought Jessica’s writing had grown before, but after this book you can tell she’s grown so much, I honestly th ...more

When a typical vampire hunt goes horrible off course, Rainey realizes that there might be more going on in the supernatural community than she could have guessed. To make matters more complicated, two mysterious men show up and try to assist Rainey in her hunt, both with complicated pasts and motivations, making her unsure who to trust. With the danger in the

I should preface this review with: when I was younger I loved the vampire romance genre; however, as I have gotten older I have become extremely picky with my vampire romance books. Jessica happens to have written many romance novels under the name of J.W. Ashley and then also has her Cambrexian Realm novels, which are fantasy.

Now to Blood Hunt. When I started the novel, I was extremely skeptical. I am not a fan of the typical "my heightened senses" cliche often found in these kind of novels; h

What a gem!

I really liked this book! It popped up in my "recommended reads" in the Kindle store, and I'm glad I have it a try.

The characters are well-written, each with their own unique background, likes, dislikes, abilities, emotions - diverse and rich. Rainey is one, kick-a$$ female. Some books try to portray a tough as nails heroine, and fail miserably. Rainey really is grit and fortitude. She has her flaws, her regrets and experiences that have made her work hard to hold her own. She isn't

This is the story of Rainey, last of a powerful hunter lineage, and Elijah, last of a powerful vampire lineage, and the book sets up an epic saga of violence, intrigue, and star-crossed romance.
There are a lot of moving pieces in this story and to its credit the supernatural world building and lore development is on point. I really like many of the supporting characters as well: Ramirez, Rainey’s cop partner, is awesome, for example. Elijah is suitably broody and mysterious and hot. Rainey is a

Going to read book two as soon as I've done this...

As a fan of the 'hunter' type books, I though I'd give this a go as I hadn't read any this authors books. I'm really glad I did. Whilst some of themes aren't necessarily ground-breaking,for example the grief and not being overly sociable, it was written so well it didn't matter. What was original (I thought anyway!)was that the main lead was not only older, but had a lived the life for a long time. A lot of books in this particular genre concent

Loved this one! Strong, intelligent kick butt heroine! Drool-worthy, strong sweetheart of a hybrid hero. Hunters, Vampires, Shifters, Witches! Action, danger, and suspense! All good fun things! Rainey is a hunter and a detective; when more and more odd attacks start to happen in Rainey's life, she's in for some surprises and some unexpected allies. Turns out there's lots of things Rainey isn't completely clear on in her life; some things she's been kept in the dark about and some things she refu ...more

Such a great storyline!

This was such a refreshing, gripping read! I cannot stress enough how much I loved reading about a 35 year old who knows (mostly) what she is doing. Rainey was relatable (to me anyway) and strong and brave. I loved the whole hunter vs vampire thing and all the other supernatural species kind of thrown in. I LOVE a good mystery. Rainey is trying to figure out who is trying to kill her, why, and who she can trust, not to mention who killed her sister. Along the way she finds

I don't know where all of these exciting characters come from, but Rainey is my hero. She is strong and hard-headed with a quick mind and quicker wit. In her mission to find her sister's killer, she discovers there is something even more sinister going on, and she is in the crosshairs. As a police detective and more than one foot in the paranormal world, she has access to so much more than those around her can see, and she definitely has a way of causing upheaval in her wake. Great find here!I in case your wondering....

Well this would be my first book by Jessica... I think. I'm a reading junkie.
So this book has all the cool stuff like magic and vampires that were all good and used to but this one has a twist to it. I know we all look for something just a bit different to like in these books we binge so this is totally one. We have a strong female lead and she stays true to herself and that's refreshing! I absolutely loved this first in Jessica Wayne's new series! She won me over with the Cambrexian Realms series, so I knew I had to give this a try! I was so glad I did. Rainey is a tough Hunter, while Elijah is one of the oldest of who she hunts. There are twists that constantly had me going "Wait. WHAT!?" I love a multi-POV story, which this also gives!
