Pitkin Pictorials has been at the forefront of heritage publishing for over 70 years. The founder, Mr Pitkin, was a post-war entrepreneur devoted to publishing highly illustrated souvenir guidebooks that commemorated special people and events in British history.

One of the earliest souvenirs was for Princess Elizabeth’s wedding day in 1947, and subsequent publications documented other memorable royal occasions. As the list grew, subjects widened to include cathedrals, stately homes, museums.

4 stars. A very thorough and nicely illustrated history and look into Windsor Castle. I especially liked the pictorial reconstructions that gave you an idea of what the castle looked like at various stages of its almost 1,000 year history. However, very sadly lacking are any floor plans and related plats, which would give one better context for what you're reading about. I'm not talking about detailed plans, obviously, but many of the areas are public and could thus have been sketched out, drawn out.
