Scaredy Bat and the Sunscreen Snatcher

Rate this book
Solving crime, one fear at a time

Ellie “Scaredy Bat” Spark is a 12 year old vampire that loves solving mysteries, but is afraid of...everything. She's afraid of spiders, lakes, and loud noises -- just to name a few. And her pesky sister Penny never lets her forget it. But with a little courage and help from her friends, Ellie just might achieve her dream of becoming a real detective.

When Ellie finds out about a class trip to her role model’s favorite getaway, she can’t believe her luck. But soon Ellie discovers her special sunscreen is missing, and she feels like someone is out to get her. Ellie must overcome her fear of clowns (and disgust with garlic) to solve the mystery of the missing sunscreen...before she ends up with permanent blue dots all over. Or worse, misses out on the biggest class trip of the year.

Ellie and her friends are back and there's a new mystery to solve. When Ellie's special sunscreen goes missing, it's up to the gang to find it before it's too late. (You won't believe what can happen to a vampire that doesn't use her sunscreen!)

This book is great for the young and young at heart.

Scaredy Bat And The Sunscreen Snatcher is a great read for parents & kiddos alike. It's a fun story that is perfect to enjoy together. My nine year old daughter is a big fan of all things 'spooky' and although this isn't in the vein of something like Goosebumps she loved it. The characters are all fun and the story engaging. We loved Ellie especially for her inquisitive nature. We also enjoyed the previous book of the series and this is a worthy follow up.

Ellie was the little vampire and a scaredy bat. Before her class ventures on a field trip to the lake, Ellie makes sure she has plenty of sunscreen, except...well, her sunscreen was gone. Who took it?

It becomes a race to find that sunscreen or she'll be grounded forever.

Cute illustrations and a fun story!

Cute series. I listened to it because I'm Brianna's mom and of course I think she did a great job.

Ellie is excited to learn that her class would be going on field trip to Jellyfish Lake next week. It would be an overnight trip. The kids would have to choose a partner for a project related to Jellyfish Lake.
Because Ellie’s a half vampire, she needs her sunscreen for the trip so she doesn’t get severe sunburn. When vampires are exposed to sunlight they burn easily and can be stuck with permanent blue spots. The sun can even drain their abilities.
So she looks in her bag to make sure her sunscreen is there but she can’t find it. Who took it? And so begins her next sleuthing mission

Summer School Read Aloud

I read this for my students during summer school. They love trying to figure out who took the sunscreen and how the mystery was going to be solved. This is a very cute book.
