Players on Ice #7

The Puck Charmer

Alek:
There was a time when I got off on the instant recognition, the endless flow of puck bunnies, and media exposure. That was then. Now, after a successful NHL season, I’m just looking for some down time. To slide under the radar, kick back and soak up some peace and quiet in Vermont…until I accidently hit another vehicle and meet the driver. With her amber hair tied back in a ponytail, and dirt on the knees of her coveralls, she’s different from any woman I’ve ever met, and the best part? She has no idea who I am.

Alyssa:
All I want is to build my landscaping business and take care of my grandmother. But when some hot out-of-towner rams his vehicle into mine, and doesn’t have the funds to pay for repairs, we come to a compromise. He works off the damage by working for me. When a touch leads to a kiss, I quickly learn that while he might not have a green thumb, he certainly has a magical touch.

Who knew a collision would lead to a crash course on love, but after I discover the secret he’s hiding, will our feelings for one another wither or will they bloom into something more?

trust and lies don't mix

When Alexk Matthews A.K.A The Puck Charmer. Took a vacation from his busy season with Seattle Shooter and headed to Vermouth for a little R&R and house sit for his friend and babysit his dog. He didn't think that is all he would do. Coming into town he rear-ended the local landscaper trailer hard. What comes next is hiding who or what he does for a living. Passion, build and sparks flies between Alyssa and him. As she doesn't know who he is and he doesn't tell her what he does for a living.
In the end she end it, when his true identity is known. Lies are never good. Will she forgive him?

I'm loving the series, so worth reading.

Another amazing story from a wonderful author. The Puck Charmer has it all. Alek is tired of the spotlight and just wants to lay low for a while. Alyssa needs a life but has to work hard to pay for her grandma's care. When Alek literally runs into Alyssa the sparks fly, that is until she finds out who he really is and that he has been lying to her by omission. Will she forgive him? Will he get the girl of his dreams? You will have to read this awesome book to find out.

“Old man Landry has been trying to set me up with his grandson, who works on Wall Street in New York. But I’m just a small-town girl and that’s a whole different world for me”

Alyssa is a landscape designer, in a small town of Vermont, where she has lived all her life. Tho all of her friends have moved away in search of something bigger and better, Alyssa decided to stay and make a living for herself right in the town her she grew up. It’s not being easy tho, the work isn’t much and during six months the town is cold and covered in snow, so her work span is limited.

“Plus, why would she open for him when he just rear-ended us? That is no way to treat a lady.
Wait, maybe that didn’t come out right.”

Alek, meets Alyssa the very first day he arrives to her small town.
He’s a professional hockey player, but he tries to pass incognito, since he needs a break from fame and the paparazzi.
Alek literally rear ends Alyssa and then goes all alpha on the girl, taking her under his wing and making sure she hasn’t a concussion.

“You said you had a sofa, Alyssa. That’s a loveseat. I’d have to sleep with my knees around my ears.” I catch her grin. “You think that’s funny?”
“I’d kind of like to see that.”

The storyline of this book reminds me a lot of another book also by Cathryn Fox - The Penthouse Pact. Which is one of my favorite books by this author (and I’m still patiently waiting for Miss Fox to continue that series).

The hero, takes care of the heroine, making sure she’s healthy, since she has no one to do it. And of course falling in love in the process.
Alek, not only takes care of Alyssa’s concussion, but also helps her with her business and with her ailing grandma, which I found so endearing.

”This is a small town, Alek. People are going to start talking if we stay together.”
“From what I’ve seen so far, ninety percent of the population needs hearing aids, so they can talk all they want. No one is going to hear it.”

He however hides his identity from the heroine and that creates a turmoil in their relationship.

Alek is a charmer!

Alek Matthews just wants to lay low and have a quiet vacation taking care of his friend’s dog when he he’s in an accident with the local landscaper. He’s concerned with her being hurt so he decides to help Alyssa and maybe get to know her better since she had absolutely no idea that he was a professional hockey player.

It’s been awhile since the other books in the Players on Ice, but you don’t need to read them to like The Puck Charmer because it’s a short fun read where Alek does landscaping to get Alyssa’s attention.

The Puck Charmer by Cathryn Fox was a very enjoyable ‘in-between Hockey seasons/summer fling’ that turns into true love- story. I like how the characters meet for the first time. How do they meet you ask??? Well, he rear-ends her vehicle giving her a nasty bump on the head. A very unique beginning to a romance wouldn’t you agree???

Why in this kind of book the H never tells the thruth, someone does for him? I would like to read something new, not the same thing over, and over again.

Puck charmer

Sweet story with lots of funny quips.
Typical bad boy turns life around when he meets the one.
More sex than actual story though.

I haven’t read any of the other books yet but not bad. It’s a nice little meet cute for the couple. One of them is holding a secret and of course things don’t end well.
