Karen Renee is the author of the Riot Motorcycle Club, Beta, and O-Town series of books. She once crunched Nielsen ratings data but these days she brings her imagination to life by writing books. She has wanted to be a writer since she was very young, but it’s taken the last twenty plus years for her to amass enough courage and overall life experience to bring that dream to life. Some of those life experiences came from the wonderful world of advertising, banking, and local television media research. She is a proud wife and mother, and a Jacksonville native. When she’s not at the soccer field or cooking, you can find her at her local library, the grocery store, in her car jamming out to some tunes, or hibernating while she writes and/or reads books.

*I Received this ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review*

This book is the first in the new O-Town series and it is a series that, in my view, starts very well.
Karen Renee, the author, brings us two main characters full of trauma and suffering in their hearts and in their pasts, Cecilia and Brock.
She ran away from an ill-advised life she was leading, full of bad addictions and bad habits. In her opinion, you did what you could to survive, including some things that she is not proud of. It's a secret that she is planning on not telling anyone, until someone that knows her story mingles in the way and she has no other option than to reveal the truth.
Brock, for his turn, is a DJ full of talent and good dance moves who also has his secrets buried in his broken heart and in his past and, when he sees Cecilia, he immediately realizes that she has to be his, whatever the cost. And how it will cost! Cecilia is fully aware that she is broken for any man who is willing to forgive all the bad additions she has had in the past and struggles with daily and makes it very hard to Brock to enter in her life and in her heart. However, Brock, manages to do exactly that and more, and makes her have a glimmer of hope that she deserves to be happy with someone like him, despite her blemished past.
In my opinion, they are two people who really needed each other to heal their wounds and build a more sunny and smiling future. Of course, the past cannot be erased only with love, if it can be erased at all, but it can be forgotten and overcome. Time heals wounds and love helps a lot to find our place in the world and in someone else's heart.
We can't go anywhere alone and Cecilia needs Brock as much as he needs her, although for slightly different reasons.
I really liked the characters in this book and I hope to see them in the next volumes of the series.

Cecilia has overcome the mistakes of her past but the emotional toll it took on her still remains. While enjoying a night out with her friends she meets Brent so even though she feels out of her element she is drawn to him in a way she never expected.

Brock has a painful past of his own, but he has been attracted to Cecilia for a while and has been biding his time. Once they meet, he knows that one night will not be enough but will her past bring them closer or be an obstacle that they can’t overcome?

Although Cecilia and Brock had their setbacks along the way which caused some angst filled moments the characters and their struggles draw you in and keep you entertained from beginning to end.

Book One in The O-Town Series is Brock, and Cecilia’s story. New to Orlando she keeps running into Brock, and she gets his attention. Their love story isn’t always pretty, but you could see how much Brock really wanted Cecilia. Even though he was gruff, and domineering ultimately it was her standing in the way of her own happiness. If you love a good book with a domineering alpha male, and stubborn sassy heroine this is absolutely a book for you. I am absolutely excited for what’s to come in this series.

Karen Renee did a good job on Relentless Habit, the story was written well, the plot was strong. Brock and Cecilia were good for each other, they had a strong connection that drew them to each other. They may have some ups and downs along the way but they were good together.
I enjoyed this story. Thanks, Karen Renee. Good work :)

This is the 1st book I've read written by Karen Renee; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the characters.

Relentless Habit is the first book in the O-Town series, which is a spin-off from the Riot MC series. In this, we meet Cecilia who is a recovering addict. She sees a man with some serious dance moves but takes no action. After the third night of seeing him, he makes a move and Cecilia learns about the force of nature that is Brock.

I enjoyed this novel as Cecilia and Brock dance around each other. Brock was a bit of an ass when Cecilia tried to tell him something and he steamrollered over her. Then! gets upset when he finds out later what it was. Saying that, though, once he got his head out of his ass, he proved to Cecilia that he was there for her and refused to let her push him away when the going got tough.

I thought their romance was hot and steamy, full of banter, support, and maybe just a few too many nicknames and endearments, but that's just me. A couple of situations seemed a bit O.T.T. to me but, once again, that's just my opinion.

All in all, this was a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will be on the lookout for more books by Karen Renee now. Absolutely recommended.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Oh Em Gee this book will put you through the emotional wringer!!! You start off giggling/laughing at the banter between Brock and Cecilia, next comes the tears and heartache, then joy and happiness. And that’s only in the first 1/3 of the book! Add in some of our favourite bikers and this is a stellar read! I honestly struggled to set it down. Well done!!

I liked the story and it turned out to be fun and exciting!

I really liked Brock and Cecelia’s relationship. They have a great chemistry, and they reminded me of Julia Roberts and Richard Gere from Pretty Woman. Surprisingly, I liked Brock more than anyone. In the beginning, I really didn’t like him as he came across as haughty, arrogant and self-righteous. Although he was still all these things throughout the story, I opened up to him as he grew on me. Also, I liked how he protects Cecelia and wants to be in a relationship, even if Cecelia had her doubts.

Similarly, I also liked Cecelia. She leads a volatile life, and I liked how she tries to improve herself. Moreover, she has a history of drug abuse and addition, and I liked how Brock tries to regain her confidence. Similarly, I also liked the supporting characters like Gabe and Warren and thought they added well to the plot. On a side note, the steamy scenes between Brock and Cecelia just made the story hot and exciting.

Having said that, the author makes a few references to the previous Riot MC series. As I have not read the series prior to this book, it was a tad challenging to grasp some of the references. I would have loved this story had I read the series. Also, while I loved how the story shifts focus between the point of view of the two characters, I wish they split it into different chapters. As a speed reader, I missed the shift at times, and got lost as to who’s point of view I was on.

But, overall, this was a nice start to the series and I like to see how it continues.

Relentless Habit (O-Town #1) by Karen Renee was a great 5 star read.
Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. I made the mistake of starting the book during my lunch break and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

We start with Cecilia in a club where she meets Brock. Brock has been watching Cecilia for quite awhile and he finally makes his move. Which turns into a very steamy evening. Cecilia hasn’t been with anyone for a very long time. She also shares one of her secrets with him, she has another big secret that she isn’t sure how to tell him.

Cecilia is seeing a counselor for her past and trying to move forward. Will Brock be just the right person to help her? Brock also has some of his own issues to deal with. As they get closer together Cecilia struggles with her secret, what will happen if/when Brock learns the truth.

There are several unexpected twists and turns in this great read. And all of the characters were great. I would love to have my own Brock even though his brother and father sounded just as hot. I really enjoyed this read and I look forward to reading more from this author and series.

How explicit are the sex scenes 3.5 / 5
Story 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5

Relentless Habit is the first book in the O-Town series and can be read as a standalone romance. It tells the story of Brock Sullivan and Cecilia Lyons, and I was first introduced to the characters in the author's Riot MC series. Brock is Vamp's brother, and you can read Rainey and Vamp’s story in Inciting the Riot, which is the second book in the series. Cecilia is Tennille’s sister, and you can read Razor and Neil’s story in Into the Riot, which is the third book in the series. If you’re like me and enjoy knowing all of the character's background stories, I do recommend reading their books. Just know that it’s only a suggestion.

Cecilia has recently turned her life around with the help of her family and the Riot MC. Although mentally, she still struggles with everything that has happened. So, one evening Cecilia and her friends go out to a nightclub. When she first meets Brock, the DJ at the club, she’s nervous about starting something new. But Brock had all of the confidence, and soon their one night of passion turned into much more. As time passes, Cecilia realizes she needs to tell Brock about her past, but she’s afraid. How will he take it when he discovers her secret? Will he be able to protect her from the life she left?

I’ve been looking forward to reading Cecilia’s story for a while now. Relentless Habit is a great story, and I loved seeing some of my favorite characters from the Riot series!

From the moment I picked up this book I knew it was going to be a heavy read. Well, it's definitely all that and more as a recovering addict takes a chance on love with a man carrying his own emotional baggage. Their story isn't pretty at times but it is realistic and will quickly captivate readers looking for an unflinching take on romance in today's world.

Cecilia Lyons has come to Orlando for a fresh start, trying to put her painful past and her drug abuse behind her. With her family's support she's made a life for herself that she can be proud of. It made me proud of her too as she's a sassy and likable heroine. A night out at a club changes her life irrevocably when she meets dj Brock...a man who has her wanting to share everything about herself with him. It's not easy to open up like that though and it does cause some issues between them as they go through a sensual tug of war on the way to HEA.

Brock Sullivan has had his own pain in the past by women's betrayal and the loss of the love of his life. He's immediately drawn to Cecilia, drawn to her night after night, until they finally give into each other. Hearing her truths though caused problems between them that made me not like him for awhile. Despite his initial anger Brock finally rose to the occasion to be the man Cecilia needed him to be.

On a whole this was a captivating story that kept me glued to the pages. It was realistic too, pulled at my heartstrings, and was a powerful series starter that has me looking forward to revisiting this world again soon!

Protective, bossy alpha hero? Check!
Sassy, stubborn heroine? Check!
Plenty of steamy bits? Check!
Delicious angst? Also check!

Relentless Habit is book 1 in the O-Town series and delivers on all of the above and more. Karen Renee's books have quickly become comfort reads for me. I know what I'm going to get when I pick one up, but I also know she's still going to surprise me.

I loved Brock and Cecilia's story-- even if I wanted to punch Brock in the face no less than seven times during the first 40% of the book (he's just that bossy! And that temper...) But he truly wants his woman and he makes damn sure she knows it! Cecilia has had a tough road thus far and even though she still struggles with certain aspects of her life, she's one tough cookie-- meaning, she's the perfect match for Brock and his domineering ways.

Anyway, read this in a day, if that's any indication of how much I could NOT put it down!

This is the 1st in a new series and what a beginning this story is. Cecilia is stubborn and sassy and has move to Orlando for a fresh start as she is still struggling mentally from what she has endured, and on a night out she goes to a club where Brock is the DJ. From the moment Brock sees her in the club he is determined to get her, and she is the perfect match for him and his domineering ways, but Cecilia is scared that once Brock finds out her secret he will not want her anymore. Will Brock be able to protect Cecilia? No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed with any of this talented authors’ work. This is a well written tale which is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout, as well as having heartbreak, witty banter, passion, and love which all leads to a riveting and humorous story. I was hooked throughout and look forward to reading more from this author.

Cecilia Lyons has come to Orlando to get away from her past for a fresh start. Brock Sullivan is the super hot DJ with trust issues because of his past.  He doesn't trust women, but Cecilia catches his eye, and off they go on a new journey.  Their witty banter kept me laughing a lot, but then came the emotional upheaval to mess with my heart, and a big kicker of chemistry.  Oh, and Cecilia has a BIG secret that won't make friends, and dirty little secrets always come out no matter how hard you try to keep them buried.  Obviously their love story isn't pretty, as it's filled with bumps, and yet, there's something to be said for fighting for love despite everything in your path.  And these two definitely did that even with the crazy push & pull.  So when that big secret comes out, will Brock be able to get past it?!  Hit those one click buttons to find out!  HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

(4 stars)

A new spin off of sorts, Brock is Vamp's brother and Cecilia is Neil's sister. Both of which come from the Riot MC series, and I do suggest checking the series out, it was a really good MC read. Now, Brock is the hottie DJ that Cecilia has gotten the attention of, and she has decided to take the plunge and have a one night, no strings type of thing. The thing is, Brock has other plans, he wants a real chance with Cecilia, only he doesn't know that she has loads of baggage. Cecilia is determined to not drag Brock down, while Brock is determined to make sure that she stays his, but when he finds out the worst about Cecilia will he still be so determined?

I really enjoyed this start to a new series, I loved that we got to see Vamp, Razor and their ladies. Loads of drama, danger, a bit of violence, some heart breaking moments, and of course some really nicely done naughty bits. I am excited to see just how this series goes. I give this 4 stars.

The story is so addicting that I couldn't put in down!

I really liked Cecilia, she is troubled by her past and still letting it define her in some way while trying to move forward. And failing in love wasn't in the plan also, especially when she couldn't bring herself, to be honest about her past.

Those kinds of things never can stay secret for long and long behold it all blows up, but that only the start of a very bumpy path to happily ever after. :)

And then there is Brock. He is strong, stubborn, and hot, but also very hotheaded. I didn't like the way he talked to her, especially at the start of the book. But as the story moved on, I started to slowly like him, a bit. :)

The writing style wasn't my favorite, but I loved the storyline, it is gripping and intense and so addictive, I read it in one sitting.

Love the Romance

Brock and Cecilia were instantly attracted to each other and Brock wanted nothing more than to be with Cecilia. The thing standing in their way was Cecilia herself. She thought she was no good for Brock and wanted to keep her distance from him but the more she fought it the more he tried to show her that it just wasn’t true. Maybe Cecilia was right because once you hear her reason for keeping him at arm’s length you just might agree with her.

Cecilia was much stronger and better than she thought and Brock was just the one to show her. The romance between these two was great and the chemistry even better. This is a book you want to read if you love romances that pull you in and keep you enthralled until the very end.

With Cecilia coming to Orlando for a fresh start, its interesting when she comes across Brock Sullivan. You can see that he certainly has some trust issues of him own (which I completely understand why) and doesn't trust women. I found it intriguing when, despite his view of women, that Cecilia catches his attention. When their relationship kicks off there is some fantastic chemistry and I found myself laughing quite often throughout the book. The only problem is, she is still holding on to a secret, which she feels wont make her feel very welcome in Orlando any more.

This was a bit of a roller coaster ride. Cecelia's past almost ended the relationship more than once, in more ways than one. I loved Brock's protectiveness, determination, and acceptance for Cecelia and all that she had been through. A couple times, he was a little overprotective. Cecelia felt human with her addiction and struggles to rise above it all. Her self-esteem took some rebuilding with the help of therapy, friends, and family. I enjoyed the interactions between the different family members and significant others. I recommend this story.

I have been looking forward to Brock’s story since we first meant him in Inciting the Riot. I wasn’t sure Cecilia would be the right match for him, but I was very wrong. She has been through so much and Brock was the perfect man for her. I loved that there was still action and excited like in the Riot stories. Overall I would say this book is steamy! Lots of chemistry between Brock and Cecilia! Another excellent story by Karen Renee!

Oh, Brock and Cecilia. They both needed their own story, and it turned out perfectly. Cecilia is turning her life around and avoiding dangerous situations, but Brock isn’t about to be denied. He knows that Cecilia and he could be great together, and he’s not letting her fear run the show. Of course, that’s easier said than done when he learns about the one thing she’s been afraid to share. Once Brock knows part of that piece, Cecilia is shattered, and in a humiliatingly painful way. I found myself tearing up while reading through her embarrassment and misery, and oh, did I want to slap Brock.

But if Brock works through his anger and decides that Cecilia, ALL of Cecilia, is worth so much more than being a blip in his rearview mirror, he can work to get under her skin. He just needs to want it badly enough to get under Cecilia’s skin so they can find their happy. After all, if Brock makes the effort, Cecilia surely won’t be able to resist, right?

I’ve loved everything I’ve read from this author so far, and this story is no exception. The pain dripping off the page sometimes, the humor, the realism of “I’m mad, but we’re still family, so we can deal”, and the happiness found for Brock and Cecilia made for a rollercoaster of a read. I can’t wait to revisit them in the next book, because I’m sure they’ll have a few things to say about Gabe’s behavior at some point during his story.

Another amazing story from Karen Renee! Brock is the brother of Vamp; Cecelia is the sister of Tennille. If you've read Karen Renee's Riot MC series, you have already met both characters. If you haven't, what are you waiting for?!

Anyway, Cecelia is working hard to make a new start and Brock is determined to win her over... until her secrets come out. As with any relationship, there are obstacles to overcome, but the journey is worth it. If you like a story with passion, humor, Disney references, redemption, and references to a ginger ale from Michigan which is amazing (even if a character in the book disagrees), you will love this book.

You can find this review over at my blog as part of a blog tour on the 1st of October

I received a copy of this book from Xpresso Tours as part of a blog tour, in exchange for an honest review.

Cecilia is just trying her best to stay clean, stay out of trouble and make something of herself after escaping an awful situation that left her with an addiction. When she meets Brock at a nightclub, she likes that he seems to only take an interest in her, until things begin to turn serious, and she struggles with the idea of having a relationship because she's never had a healthy one. She just knows that her past will tear Brock apart, but the more time she spends with him, the harder it becomes to tell the truth.
Brock hasn't had a serious relationship in twelve years, and even he isn't prepared for the intensity that being with Cecilia will bring. But they work well together. He doesn't trust easily, so when he finds out a secret that Cecilia has been keeping from him, he finds it difficult to work through his anger. However, he can't ignore the passion that they have, and when Cecilia's past threatens to catch up to her, he'll do everything he can to keep her safe...but will he succeed?

I'm not much for contemporary romances, but for some reason this one just caught my eye and I figured I'd give it a go. I'm not going to lie, this is not the next big thing for the literary world, but it was enjoyable, easy reading, and just all around fluff that I need right now.

Brock is a major alpha male yet has the ability to show his sweet side at times. Cecilia is just trying her best and I honestly loved her character. At times their dialogue felt very campy and cliche, and I found myself rolling my eyes more than a bunch of times at a lot of the stuff that came out of Brock's mouth but hey, it was still an enjoyable read.

The story is told through alternating perspectives of Brock and Cecilia, at first I found it a bit disorienting because I wasn't expecting the perspective to shift, and while I understand why Renee went down the route of alternating POVs, I don't think it was overly necessary. Yes, it gave us insight into Brock's character a bit more and also showed us things that were happening when Cecilia wasn't with him, but most of his thoughts, I found at least, were about his dick and how much he just wanted to f**k Cecilia. It got a little bit old after a while. I was after a bit more character development from him than what I got, but I'm not overly mad at it to be honest.

We learn Cecilia's secret from the first chapter, so we're well aware of what she's hiding, and I loved how flawed her character was. Her character development was brilliant. She was believable and real, and I just love that she's trying her best to make something for herself, yet you can still see the scars she carries from her past. The story was predictable, but that doesn't bother me, I was however hoping there would be a bit more involvement from her past so the story was a little bit more than just about their budding relationship, but what I got sufficed. It was more of a background thing to the development of Brock and Cecilia's relationship.

I liked the supporting characters as well, especially Warren Sullivan - Brock's father. His character was so fun, and loving and caring and I just wish he was a real person so I could befriend him. There are other books that deal with Brock's brothers, the story of his older brother Vamp and his partner Rainey is already available, but the story following the younger brother Gabe and his friend Cassandra is yet to be published. I won't lie, I'm probably gonna pick both of them up because I feel invested in the characters and their stories.

I felt that it wasn't just the dialogue between Cecilia and Brock that was cringey though the constant use of baby and honey as terms of endearment was a bit much at times. It was the dialogue of the older brother Vamp that bugged me too. Both him and Brock came across as these macho alpha males, which is fine, as Vamp is part of an MC, but it felt like it was trying too hard. And I couldn't help but have an inward giggle at how ridiculous they sounded at times. I feel like Renee may have been trying a little too hard to make them come across as real blokey blokes who take no crap, when that could have been portrayed through actions rather than cringe-worthy dialogue. As said above though, I'm not even mad about it though, I still enjoyed the read.

I feel like there was more room for some more development of parts of the story, but they might come about in further instalments. All in all, this was a light fluff of a read which was just what I needed. It was contemporary romance, with cringe-worthy dialogue, interesting characters and easy reading. If you want something light, give it a go.

This was one heartfelt read the story was filled with heart and a ton of emotion and it felt real. The characters were amazing we loved them all.

Brock was a character you instantly loved he was downright playful had a good sense of humor was sexy and possessive and an all-round nice guy. I loved how he treated Cecilia like she was special and never stop telling her on a daily basis on how much he loved and cared about her. Initially, it was a bit of a shock to learn about her past but, once he straightens out his feelings for her it was full throttle to make her his again.

Cecilia and her struggles were real and our heart went out to her because she always seemed to be apologizing for her past and not only that her self-esteem seemed non-existent but, through it all, she seemed to be one tough cookie. I loved that she had a sense of humor and was sweet kind and loving and all of Brock's's family loved her as well which we loved a heck of a lot.

This love story was not an easy one and at times I felt I had constant whiplash with all of Cecilia's protests and her trying to put distance between her and Brock but, Brock was a man who did not take no for an answer and every day he tried to make Cecilia see all the things that he saw in her hoping she would see them for herself. This story was definitely emotional and messy and it felt real because you could resonate with what Cecilia was feeling and her fears which I really loved.

The characters Brock and Cecilia had major chemistry and fit well together but, it was not the explosive kind we usually see from this author but, still super sweet nevertheless.

Overall I loved the story and that the struggles one has on a daily basis to deal with a pass addiction are real and hard and it is always challenging but, we loved that Cecilia was always honest with her struggles and feelings and that she voiced them to the surrounding people which In our eyes made her stronger willed that she even realized.

My only pet peeve would be we never got a solid answer to the question of who wanted to do Cecilia harm it all was pretty much of a guessing game and even with parties in play being temporarily detained is there still and future threat to her welfare and safety? That remains to be seen...

Cecilia has been trying to get her life back on track. Her lack of confidence and defeatist attitude about her sordid past is understandable and she does start to get stronger by facing her problems head-on, but I guess I wanted her to be stronger with Brock. She let him walk all over her a few too many times for my liking and I would have made him grovel for the douchebag stunt he pulled at his dad’s house. She also needs to work on her goals in life and find a realistic passion. Not working at Walt Disney World for the rest of her life.

Brock is quick-tempered and domineering and after making a complete ass of himself with Cecilia, he did come around and protect and comfort her when she needed it most. However, he just rubbed me the wrong way and I found him immature and lacking compassion when she needed it most.

There are a couple of other backstories as well with Brock’s mother appearing in his life again after many years absent and I thought the part about Cecilia’s past rearing its ugly head and putting her in danger was overkill and unnecessary.

Cecilia’s MeMaw and Brock’s dad are great supporting characters as well as other members of both of their families who have or will have books of their own.

Overall, I enjoyed this intriguing plotline between two opposites with sexy scenes, but I just felt the story dragged on and both protagonists needed a bit of growing up to do. If you like light romances with sexy scenes, surprising secrets, and interesting characters, give this book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Renee for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
