I want her in my bed, but she’s off limits. She wants roots for her life and I’m aimless. We should run from each other. Yet nothing is more enticing than the forbidden.
Trevor
My friends back in New York City think I’m crazy—quitting my prosperous law firm and taking a year off to roam the bars of Paris, picking up strangers.
After what happened, how could I have stayed? I’m shaken, numb, and the last thing I need is human connection. In between mindless hookups, I just want to be alone.
Or so I thought. Until I met Sophia Paige.
She’s beautiful, kind, innocent, and her joyfulness draws me like a moth to a flame. I’ll get her into my bed if it’s the last thing I do.
There’s just one problem: Sophia’s taken a vow of celibacy, and due to a small misunderstanding, she now believes I did, too.
So I’m lying awake at night, dreaming of coaxing the same moan from her lips that I heard when she tasted my fresh-baked croissant.
This girl with the bright blue eyes could be my salvation, but only if I can first save her from her vow.
Sophia
I came to Paris searching for my past. I’m recreating the steps my parents followed in their final days, guided by a handful of faded letters and my childhood journals.
I’m a small-town girl, and feel way out of my depth, but the biggest threat I’ve encountered so far in the City of Lights is him.
Trevor Lawson—suave, handsome, and achingly enticing—is dangerous in a different way. Nothing good can come from falling for a man who lives an ocean away from me. Yet, for the first time in ages, I’m irresistibly attracted to someone and tempted to break my year-long vow of celibacy.
And I can’t. My vow was a promise of love—not only to myself but also to my best friend.
No matter how fascinating Trevor is, no matter how close we get as he helps me in my mission, I can’t break my vow. I’d rather die.
But after this trip, that might be exactly what happens to my old self.

Bonjour! The latest book from Author Pichardo-Johansson is the trip to Paris you’ve been dreaming about. One of my favorite authors, D. Pichardo-Johansson has written two book series, seven books in all. I have read and greatly enjoyed everyone of them. I was delighted when the author let me know that she would soon be publishing the first book in a new series, The Self Vow. I was thrilled when I read an advance review copy she provided. And now that I have finished reading, o la la! Love Me in Paris is perfect in every way, like a French croissant, or a kiss on a bridge over the Seine.
The series involves four girlfriends, and each gets their own book to share their story. Sophie features in this book. She is a pleasant gal from Indiana, still girlish and fanciful, but also a bit lost and unfocused. She lost her parents when she was 12, and in many ways she is still that young girl, wounded and uncertain.
One of her friends, Iris, has written a popular self-help book, The Self Vow. At the beginning of the story, the four friends meet and promise to follow the precepts of the book. “We promise to be our own source of love. Never again will we settle for less than what we really want.” Sophie decide she wants to have a relationship like she remembers her parents having- soul mates. She goes to Paris to follow the last trip her parents took together, in the hopes of getting to know them better and to find a direction for her own life. And then in Paris, she bumps into Trevor and the “travel romance” begins. What will Sophie’s journey be like? How will it end?
I read this enchanting story tout suite. Everything about this book is as radiant as Paris (and Annecy, another place that features in the story.) The author “shows” us everything. The characters’ actions, feelings and thoughts, the sights, smells, sounds of the many fascinating places in Paris all blend perfectly. We are entertained and enriched by learning about the Self Vow, which is presented in a positive and easy way, woven well into the charm of the story. Sophie and Trevor each tell their story in the first person, alternating chapters and this is the smoothest presentation of dual stories I have read. And yes, the spicy-sexy parts advance the story, reveal even more about the characters and are joyous to read. Tres bien, Author Pichardo-Johansson.
At the end of the story, readers are informed about how to obtain the free photo companion book of images. The author took these photos herself, and they really do add fun and even more vibrancy to the story. In this book, Sophie looks for a “travel companion for life.” Well, the Author is now my “book companion for life, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Thanks to Author Pichardo-Johansson for an advance review copy. This is my honest review.
Sophia falls in love with man and 🗼city: c'est magnifique!😍
I am a fan of the author's Florida-set romances but this struck me as even better. Maybe because I love the idea of exploring a new place and its customs and cuisine, Sophia's trip to France was a delight to read about and the companion book of photos that document the most memorable moments of her journey really helped me walk right alongside! From Sophia's poignant reason for taking her trip, to her encounter and adventures with fellow American Trevor, to her emotional journey and the lovely conclusion, this is a story that was a pure joy to read.
It's not all hearts and flowers; Trevor has a hidden agenda that brings deception and disappointment in its wake and Sophia has to accept some hard truths about her parents' relationship. Trevor has his own traumatic backstory and family issues. And Sophia's clique of besties back home can at times be more harmful than helpful (I'm looking at you, Mia!), but they all add up to a very well put together plot.
As to the romance, it builds and remains sweet through most of the story. Pichardo-Johansson includes some intimacy but it never crosses the line to explicit, which was fine by me. This book is focussed on emotion, not the steamy.
Location, location, location! Sophia and Trevor's days filled with sightseeing, first glorious Paris, then a small mountain town and back to Paris and Versailles, are told with a loving eye. The author enhances the French tour by providing numbered notes embedded at the appropriate place in the book that refer to the photos in the companion piece Love Me in Paris: An Interactive Photo Book. I saved the Photo Book for after I finished the story. It's a useful accessory that enhances the novel (I have been to Paris, so I found it most useful in visualizing the mentioned artwork and Annecy, the alpine village they visit), but the glorious sculptures, iconic Paris buildings and streets get thorough descriptions in the novel so the photos are toppings, not strictly necessary but definitely tasty additions.
If it's not clear by all of the above, I definitely give this book full marks and a hearty recommendation😊👍👍.
Overall I liked this book. Trevor meets Sophie while in France. He helps her get around. They of course have feelings for each other and things get complicated. Thankfully in the end everything works out. Even if I didn't like Sophia at times.
I love when a book can sweep me away on a journey, and this one did exactly that. During a time when the world as we knew it is no longer recognizable in our everyday lives, it’s a special treat to be able to tour far away places through another’s eyes. Sophia’s journey is so much more than simply geographical, there’s a lot of self-discover here too. Both Sophia and Trevor need to come to terms with the pasts that have made them into the people they are today and decide who they want to be going forward. There are secrets and revelations that neither one is prepared for and are not handled at all well by our leading couple. A couple of times I almost taught my reader how to fly because this pair had frustrated me so badly, I was ready to start throwing things. I loved the lessons that Trevor and Sophia come away with: perseverance, compromise, commitment. These are valuable for all of us to learn. I’m not really ready to let go of these characters yet, so I’m anxious to get my hands on the next book in the series. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
I so enjoyed this story! I've never been to France, but this book really makes you want to go. Can I just say, the first kiss in this book is EVERYTHING! Quite possibly the best first kiss I've ever read. I don't want to spoil anything, but this book is fun and serious and romantic and hot, but not in a graphic way. I think it's very well done that you feel the chemistry, but it's not explicit, it's enough to know how meaningful the moment was, but nothing you'd be embarrassed if someone read over your shoulder. I enjoyed the adventure Sophia and Trevor went on. It reminded me of the Closet Reconfiguration episode of Big Bang. Strange comparison I know, but that instantly hit me. Anyway, they both make mistakes (don't we all) but how and what they learn from it, makes it a meaningful story, and makes for a happier ending. Oh, and I can't wait for the next book!
Trevor and Sophia's story was so fun to read. I especially love that the story takes place in Paris, which is the reason I downloaded the book. I wasn't disappointed by the storyline.
The descriptions of Paris, the museums, and the travel Sophia and Trevor did were beautifully written and gave much insight into France.
I loved that Trevor was so supportive of the reason Sophia came to France and in offering his travel experience, although his reasoning wasn't so pure at first.
Together the couple explored Paris as well as beginning a relationship that wasn't without misunderstandings and several lies. Fortunately, there is a happy ending, but not without a lot of bumps along the way.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I plan to read the whole series.
I really enjoyed this book, my first by this author. I'm a visual reader: I recreate the story in my mind's eye and this story is so well written there were not any dropped scenes or plot holes. I was drawn back to the book when I couldn't finish it in one sitting, I liked the author's writing style, and it contained only a dozen proofreading typos. An error that was listed twice in the book, which really surprized me, was calling Paris 'the city of lights'. It's not lights plural, it's light...'the city of light'. An amature error that I hope the author will correct, along with the other typos, and republish this story.
This is a love story that I want to keep in my heart for a few days before I start another book!
"Love Me in Paris" by D. Pichardo-Johansson was a well-written book and I enjoyed it, but to be honest, it fell a bit flat for me as a romance. The relationship development between main characters Sophia and Trevor seemed like an afterthought in comparison to the story's focus on documenting their travels through France and solving the mystery of what had happened to Sophia's parents. As a result, it was somewhat difficult for me to really invest in the story until there was a big plot twist involving Sophia's parents about 2/3 of the way through the book.
My biggest problem is that I had a tough time connecting with either Sophia or Trevor, and their feelings for each other just didn't seem believable to me, especially after such a short period of time. I didn't dislike Sophia, and the author did a good job developing her character and explaining her background, but she just seemed so painfully naive and mired in the past to me for so much of the book that I couldn't really relate to her. As for Trevor, he was way too focused on getting Sophia into bed and didn't actually seem to like her at all for a long time. He even complained to his cousin about how exhausting she was. So why would he keep helping her? I certainly felt bad for Trevor after learning what had happened to him before he left New York, but even so, he didn't seem like the nicest of guys, and I thought Sophia deserved better.
I found the book to be much more successful as a travelogue and in its focus on the mystery of Sophia's parents, however, and would recommend it based on those aspects alone. I will likely pick up the next book in the series to see what happens with Sophia's friends.

Terrific (as always)! Highlights the author's skill as an author taking us on a tour of Paris and its many wonders while developing the love between Sophia and Trevor as they confront their pasts, their presents, and their futures. Sometimes they are absolutely frustrating both individually and jointly, but at other times absolutely endearing. Definitely a must read for both the story and the “tour” of Paris. Couldn’t put this book down until I'd finished it (not unusual for one of her books). Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
After reading Iris's book The Self Vow, Sophia takes the Ultimate Challenge - a year of celibacy! She travels to Paris to follow the journey her parents set in their letters to her when she was a young girl. The author takes us on a tour of Paris that makes you feel like you are there with Sophia and Trevor enjoying the sights, museums, and cuisine. I have read both of Ms. Pichardo-Johansson's book series, and like them, this one did not disappoint. This book begins a new series. I can't wait to read about Sophia's friends: Chloe, Mia, Iris, and Ezra!
Unexpected Love ...I absolutely love touring Paris through Sophia and Trevor's eyes, and I especially loved the bonus book of pics. I love that Sophia is able to go in search of what happened to her parents and confront her past. I also love how Sophia and Trevor both complimented each other, without the other realizing it. Trevor and Sophia have similar paths, both needing to confront their past in order to move forward in life. Neither expected to find a companion that suited the other so perfectly. Trevor is the perfect tour guide as he discovers who he wants to be. This book as well as the series are amazing books to read.
