Love & Hockey is Monty Jay debut novel and she definitely started with a BANG!!

Bishop is a rookie for the Chicago Fury hockey team when he meets Vallie for the first time. She is his team mate's little girl. Vallie is a feisty 10 year old who dreams to become a legend in the Women Hockey league. They meet on an ice ring and even if they are at different stage of their lives they become fast friends and they seem to immediately understand each other.
If you believe in fate this story will bring

“I know that I have loved you before, I will love you in this life, and I'll love you in the one after. It's always us, Vallie."

4.5 stars!

An emotional and angsty romantic rollercoaster that is raw, intense and full of chemistry, I loved this book! A forbidden-ish sports romance with all the feels, the start of a new series, and a seriously impressive debut for author, Monty Jay.

Valor Sullivan was abandoned by her mother as a young child and was raised by her beloved single father, an NHL legend

Hockey romance is without a doubt one of my favourite tropes, so naturally I couldn’t wait to start this one. This book really is incredible and it’s hard to believe that it is a debut novel from Monty Jay. It’s the kind of book that gets me excited and makes me want to shout about it to everyone I talk to. If you’re a love of sports romance or age-gap relationships then I can not recommend Bishop an Vallies story highly enough. It’s a delicious, beautifully written slow-burn and I’m already in ...more

This book. THIS BOOK. I love every second of it. It has become one of my faves. I usually love college sport romances but i have a hard time getting attached to it or feeling emotions when it came to this type of books. I enjoyed them but for some reason they never stick with me. However love &hockey changed that. Monty Jay has a way with words. Her writing is beautiful and you are rooting for the characters all the time. The book is really quick to read because you can't stop once you start

I love hockey romances and this one intrigued. I wasn’t expecting this book to be so emotional and completely gut me. It was full of love, romance, hockey and so much emotions.

Valor grew up the daughter of a hockey legend, however, she was a hockey star in her own right. Raised by her single father and a whole host of hockey players. I love that she isn’t the typical girly girl. She isn’t your typical heroine and that makes her stand out so much more as a character. Bishop had experienced loss

4.5 star review Love & Hockey (Fury series #1) by Monty Jay

I love hockey books so I was excited to read this debut novel by Monty Jay. This was an entertaining read that captured my interest and kept it from the first to the last chapter.

This is NHL player Bishop Maverick and Valor Sullivan’s story. I found the characters easy to relate to and I really liked them. For a debut novel, I was impressed with Ms. Jay’s storytelling. This was a story that was well written and had me emotional at times

Love & Hockey is Monty Jays debut novel that I just couldn't put down. It was heart-wrenching and utterly engrossing!

Bishop and Valor were made for each other. The way this author delivered their story! The sports brought them together, but discovering their love towards each other... I have no words.

Yeah, it was beautiful.

Let me start off by saying that, for a debut, this was very, very good. I see a ton of potential in the author’s work and would not hesitate to read more. While there are some storyline issues that hold me back from rating this higher, it’s a solid, emotional read that will leave you with a lasting first impression. The plot was nothing like I expected it to be but full of heart and a heaviness that lingers throughout. My suggestion? Read the prologue, and you'll know right away whether it's goi ...more

WAIT- this is Monty Jay’s DEBUT novel?! Wow. Friends, this is someone to watch, but Love and Hockey reads better than books (that I love) by authors a million books into their career. This book was RIVETING- complex, so emotionally resonant and moving, and so, so enjoyable. Love and Hockey is the Calder Memorial Trophy of debut novels- I’m floored.

If you have any doubts about investing in this new author, just read the prologue. From the first paragraph, I knew this story would have so much dep

Is this really a debut novel? Because it is amazing and I really enjoyed! And of course, it has my favourite trope, sports romance! It has all the feels and I just couldn't put it down. It's more emotional, so don't expect a light read with this one. Bishop and Valor definitely bear emotional scars from their pasts that still run deep. But no matter what, they tried to pull through it together

And it makes this book such a great read!

That blurb + the promise of a taboo - age gap relationship? I'll be honest, that's what first drew me in but what was in between the pages of this romance is what kept me here for all the words and all those feels.

Love & Hockey by Monty Jay is a brand new romance from a brand new author and y'all, I WAS HERE FOR IT. Valor and Bishop... wait until you meet them, unforgettable in every single moment.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

WOW!! Love & Hockey by Monty Jay is a debut novel of epic proportions. This book had me in all of my feelings.

This book follows Bishop and Valor through their meeting as trash talking youths into their 20's and their very beautiful relationship. They have both had difficult lives for both similar and different reasons.

This is a dual POV and age gap trope. The POV switches with the chapters. I did find it somewhat confusing that when the POV

Valor was raised by a single father with a love for hockey. Bishop is a hockey player with the sport as the only thing that has given him a family, love or anything else. He is good friends with Valor's father and eight years older than her. Valor is sassy and after Bishop to get him to see her as more than a friend. A sexy age gap romance that I recommend. ...more

HOLY HELL!  Monty Jay brought the thunder with her debut book, Love & Hockey, so I can't imagine what she'll do to me with future works, but I'm here for it.  Valor (such a cool name) was raised by an NHL legend dad so she grew up on the ice.  It makes her my spirit animal since she has the mouth of a trucker, more toughness than some men, and all around just perfect.  She meets Bishop when she's 10 years old with him being 18 & just beginning his hockey career on her dad's team.  As she grew up ...more

Valor was raised by her father who was a professional hockey player for the Chicago Fury. As a result, she learned to love the game as a child and being raised around his teammates turned her into the feisty and fiery woman who wasn’t about to back down from any challenge.

Bishop has a painful past and playing hockey is his new beginning. He finds a family not only with Valor and her father but with the rest of the team as well. The eight year age difference didn’t matter to Valor when their fri

This is an entirely new author to me. I loved this book. I am a huge fan of hockey and that is what pulled me in. But what kept me turning the pages was the story.

This is Valor and Bishop’s story. This story has you really feeling right along with this couple. The chemistry is there and the love. You get passion and complications. You feel all the ups and downs that this couple experience. It’s not all sunshine and roses and that is the best kind of story. No relationship is perfect and

Every once in a while we find a book that is a game changer for us emotionally. It’s a book that reaches inside you, and plays on your emotions. This was most certainly that book, and it left me with the biggest book hangovers ever. Monty Jay wrote a beautiful painful messy love story that needed to be told. Bishop and Valor are two characters who both have scars from their pasts. This book was so well written, and it had me sobbing before the first chapter. It had one of the most powerful prol ...more

I'm seriously shocked by this debut novel from Monty Jay it was amazing.

I love when a new author blasts onto the scene and makes me fall in love. I LOVED Love & Hockey. I mean from thr prologue I was intrigued and quite literally hooked.

The story between Bishop and Valor is somewhat forbidden and intense.

Watching these two grow into themselves was so captivating. I swear i had thr hardest time putting it down.

There's definitely twists and turns to this one. Some I saw coming others I did not. I

I really enjoyed this debut novel. I liked how she was able to give the time span of when they first met until they inevitably got together. I also think Valor lived up to her name. Bishop was such an interesting character only dating girls he wouldn’t fall for but the girl he was going to fall for was the one he never saw coming. I also really loved how everything came full circle with the weave of the plot and how the author connected all the characters.

This book was EVERYTHING. Honestly, a top read for me in 2020!

I don’t often take the chance on new authors and debut novels, but I am really so glad I did this time. This was a work of art. Truly.

Valor & Bishop are seriously couple goals. This was a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my kindle across the room..... I absolutely can not wait for the next book in this series!

I was very impressed that this is Monty Jay's debut novel! I was thrown off a bit by the prologue because it wasn't what I expected but I was pulled in pretty quickly in the first few chapters and enjoyed it a lot. I LOVE that the heroine is a hockey player! I've read a lot of hockey romance and I don't think I've come across that before. I love that Valor and Bishop's relationship just felt like fate. I'm in awe that this is debut novel by Monty Jay. I decided to try this new author out because hockey is my favorite sport, and it's the one I love to read about most. Also, there were those enticing words "age gap" that always seem to hook me. So, the thing I keep thinking the most after finishing this book is I am SO glad I decided to give this author a try.

An OUTSTANDING debut novel that has me lacking for the right words to explain what I’m feeling right now.

Going into this all I knew was that it was about hockey and that this was the author’s debut novel. I was hooked from the first page, a few pages later my feelings were involved and by a few chapters I was pulled from reality and placed into a world full of Love & Hockey.
