I always mark my books as "read" when I finish the final draft. This is my first adult/NA contemporary romance, and the first book I've completed in almost two years. It was born from a difficult time in my life and turned out to be such a healing adventure. I hope each of you will feel as happy and satisfied as me when you read it. xoxoxo Hugs and kisses, sweeties!! ...more

This was a light, frothy, fun read!
All the fun and games these air hostesses have! I was envious.

Harlow had a teaching degree, but decided she wanted to have fun, travel and see the world.
What better way to do this than by becoming a hostess for an airline?

Harlow meets many good-looking, decent guys on her flights, but true love is elusive.

Silas was a sweet guy but off limits because he was married (to a supermodel!).
His marriage was on the rocks, but Harlow wasn't a homewrecker so she joined t

The world was my oyster, and damn it, I would find my pearl someday.

When Wendy started giving us little snippets and teasers that she was writing a new book, my inner Sweetie was absolutely bursting with excitement. Wendy is one of the few authors that I've been following for years now (since about 2012), and this book was a great testament as to why I still love and come back to her writing. Her prose is clean and not overly fluffed out but still manages to pull you in, while Harlow was som

Sorry, I completely forgot I didn't update Goodreads but this was the review:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I loved our main character. First of all, I loved that she was both a teacher and a flight attendant, I thought that was something that gave us a super interesting perspective and I loved seeing the insight of her work and career.

She was someone extremely innocent and a bit frustrating to read, with one of the most amazing character journeys

Things that we have in this Romance —

↠ A great group of girlfriends
↠ An ass of a supposed male lead that I wish to bash.
↠ A fantastic second male lead that actually got the girl! Did I also mention that he is an absolute darling?! (Second Male Lead Syndrome for the win!)

Things that I wished we had more of —

↠ Silas
↠ Silas and Harlow's deep-seated chemistry (this came out quite later in the book)
↠ More of Silas and Harlow as a couple.

Sparks is a fun book and I didn't mind reading this. Harlow a

Fun, flirty, and full of feels!

Wendy strikes the perfect balance between sexy and sweet with this one. Harlow's journey is not only enjoyable, it's relateable too, and I would loooooove to see each of her "girls" get their own HEA.

SPARKS is one romantic flight you won't soon forget!

OMG you guys! I can’t even put into words how much I loved this book!! Thank you so much Wendy for the ARC.

Harlow Robinson abandoned her teaching degree in order to get away and became a flight attendant after breaking off her engagement with her long time boyfriend. The flight attendant life isn’t all that glamorous that everyone thinks it is. Low pay, angry passengers when something’s wrong... cleaning up puke? But she’s doing it... to try and live her best - single - life. But even in an apa

Heaven help me if anything ever happens to my husband and I have to start dating again. Honestly I think I’d just die alone. Online dating is no joke! This book goes through a lot of the funny stuff people have to deal with and how hard it can be to find someone good out there. I can’t say much without giving away the plot but I absolutely loved the way this story ended up. In the beginning I was seeing all kinds of red flags for Harlow but she ended up just where she needed to be. If you are a ...more

The first half of the book was a mess for me, although I liked that the main character dated more than one guy, I didn’t like the guys at all. I didn’t like the way in which Harlow talked about other girls, aside from her close friends.
The second half got better, mainly thanks to Silas, and Harlow getting rid of captain asshole. That man is the main reason for the two stars, I swear he made me cringe all the time.

This book had a lot of potential, Harlow was a good character, the story was inter

Sparks Review on K-Books

“You’re complete right now, as you are, boo. You need to know that. No man defines you or your worth.”

I have been such a huge Wendy Higgins fan for so long. I absolutely loved her YA Paranormal books and so when she reached out and asked if I would like to review her first Adult Contemporary novel, I jumped at the chance. Now, before I go any further I just want to clarify that I am not the biggest Contemporary lover. I don’t mind the odd one or two but I am a Paranor

I think this is one of those books where it's better you go in blind, so this review will be brief.

Our heroine, Harlow, is a flight attendant and we basically follow her journey stepping into the dating world. This was a good balance of real, sweet and sexy, and I stayed up late in the night to finish it because I just couldn't stop.

So, why not five stars then? A few of the choices Harlow made I just couldn't understand. She's a very strong, independent character - she's also very kind, and ju

This book was very disappointing, as I've come to enjoy Wendy Higgins and to expect relatively clean romances from her. While she does sometimes go into what I thought of as gratuitous sex scenes, they have always been in the context of marriage, at least. I only knew her to use cussing in one of her books, and it was from the point of view of a foul-mouthed character; after reading the clean version of the series, I felt that it was justified, and would have actually been strange if that charac ...more

What a roller coaster ride. While this book is a romance, it is so much more. The main character Harlow is on a journey of self discovery. The book details her foray into the dating world after breaking a long term engagement and starting a new job as a flight attendant. I found her such a sympathetic character. I suffered along with her when things went horribly wrong. I don't want to say too much about the romance element of the story because I think experiencing it as Harlow does is important ...more

Sometimes I struggle with the star rating. Don’t misinterpret my 5 stars, this is not a well written novel. It doesn’t have twists and turns and surprises. It is chick-lit for sure, but I liked it and read it in one day. So go figure.

I’m not really a romance gal. Sometimes I’ll get my fix on it or satisfy an itch by reading something quick, something subpar.

This book was not subpar. It was incredible start to finish. The characters had so much life and the development they go through was inspiring.

Wendy gifted me this copy early and I devoured it in just a few hours. Everything about it had me thinking and reeling with emotions I didn’t know it would make me feel.

Harlow is so relatable and everything she goes through is i

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I am so so so glad I got a chance to read this book early! Ever since it was first announced, I've been waiting very impatiently for its release, and let me tell you, it would have been worth the wait.

This is a very real, very powerful book. Harlow is like every normal woman in the world. She is trying to figure out her life; stuck in a time in her life when she is not sure of anything. She knows she wants the end goal o

UGH what the heck did I just read?!

Harlow is an amazingly done character and I loved every minute of her. But right now, she has a little crisis. Graduated school to be a teacher, broke up with her boyfriend and then up and left to become a flight attendant. Yup, perfectly normal...but it works out. She's having a good time, has great friends/roommates.

So far, life is good. Yes, she would love to actually teach at some point, but right now, flying ain't all that bad. On one trip, everyone is d

Sparks by Wendy Higgins had me laughing out loud, screaming at my phone, and in tears as we ride her rollercoaster of a book! To say it is amazing is an understatement.

Wow ♥️

This was my first WH novel and now I’m trying to figure out where she’s been all of my life?!

This was a super sweet, sexy and satisfying RomCom that I never knew I needed! I’ll be honest when I say that this is not generally my preferred genre and picked up whilst going through a fantasy hangover but I will forever be glad I did!

Harlow is a completely relatable character going through the rough sea of finding not only herself but not losing herself within a relationship she so desp

I'm so glad I picked this one up. I've started about 6 books over the course of the last week, get between 75 and 100 pages, and my attention is still waiting to be captured. On a whim, I started Sparks because I'd been meaning to check it out. Wendy is a friend and when I found out she was writing a contemporary romance (series, I think?) that feature a flight attendant and her (mis)adventures in the dating scene, I was excited. I got the itch for travel starting last year and it has only gotte ...more

This was my first Wendy Higgins book and, if the rest of her books are like this, I’m gonna be kicking myself for not reading her sooner.

Romance with just the right amount of heartache and angst. I’ll admit my stomach was in knots at quite a few parts. I had no idea how this was going to proceed. I was getting nervous that this was going to end up a chick lit and Harlow would end up learning how to alone and happy with just herself, which was not how I pictured a romance! ;) But I held on and t

Intense Romantic Drama

For a Rom-Com this book had a lot of drama. It actually had me tied up in knots over who Harlow would end up with. Especially since the two main men were married. Due to the nature of these relationships it was extremely stressful for me, but in the end things worked out in a good way.

This book has tons of the feels. Not all of them are happy. But they are definitely felt. The narrator did a wonderful job representing all the various character, especially Harlow's roommate

4.5☆ I honestly didn't really know what to expect from Sparks, but I knew I was excited for it because it's Wendy Higgins. It was packed with lots of emotion, humor, and plot twists. It was actually a little refreshing to not know who Harlow was going to end up with, it kept it very interesting, and therefore, kept me sucked in. I felt like I went with Harlow on her journey to find love and through all her ups and downs. She was easy to like and root for; I really wanted her to find her happily ...more

Hmm I liked it but I guess I had too high expectations and I prefer it when the heroines aren't so... Nice? I like when they are more vindictive I guess, but I understand that the heroine was just a better person than me. In all honesty I didn't connect with her. The whole deal with Shawn never sat right with me, and I was a little frustrated with her for not being more firm with him. And another thing, why was every (alright, not every, but every potential romance candidate) male character in t ...more
