This is a very fun cookbook for kids. I enjoyed reading through it.
I appreciate that the author first gives the reader (child) some basic cooking instructions, and the need for adult help and supervision for some things. The recipes are also in three groups - easiest, medium, and hardest. Children are also encouraged to clean as they go and when they finish.
The recipes have "Dr. Seuss-type" names, and each recipe has a "Dr. Seuss-type" poem; there are also illustrations from various Dr. Seuss books.
As far as the recipes, there are a wide variety. A handful did not appeal to me, but might to someone else. This was either because of the food itself, or the amount of work to create that recipe.
My grandsons and I have already had fun trying a couple of the recipes in this book, and I'm looking forward to trying some more.

Loved it! The book is brimming with Seussian style rhyme in introductions and all the recipes hearken back to classic Seuss books. It's a kids cookbook written to kids, so it's got a great opening chapter that explains kitchen tools, cooking terms, difficulty levels, and kitchen maintenance. Every recipe has a full color photograph of the finished dish. The book is separated into loose chapters based on difficulty rather than type of food, which is great. I can tell my kindergartner that he needs to pick recipes from the first chapter, for instance, for trying. Of course there are escalating green eggs and ham recipes, one in each chapter! All of the recipes looked kid-friendly to me. I could see my kids trying any of the finished products. But I think my oldest, at six, is mostly ready to try making the first chapter worth of recipes.
And I loved at the end there's a little rhyme praising the kids' kitchen handiwork. :)

I'm not 100% sure abt the date read but w/in a day or 2 of Sunday 10/13. I checked this book out b/c it's written by Melissa Clark's husband! So I was curious to see what his work is like. It's pretty meh. The concept is clever and fun, I suppose, but the recipes seemed overly complex for kids. Which means they're more projects for adults. Which... is that how all "children's" cookbooks are? IDK - this is the first children's cookbook I've read. Additionally, some of the foods included seemed unnecessary and rather lackluster. E.g., why make homemade corn chips when those are easy to buy from the store? And you could spend your kitchen / cooking time making something flashier? I don't know much about either kids or cooking tho so *shrug.*

Afte a brief introduction to hygiene and safety tips, this Dr. Seuss themed cookbook presents 50 recipes starting with beginner snacks to more complicated recipes, each recipe is comprised of an ingredient list and step by step directions illustrated with photographs of finished dishes sprinkled with Seuss illustrations and quotations. It ends with some tips on the importance of cleaning up afterwards. It would be a perfect book to put in the hands of a reader to cultivate or capitalize on their culinary interests.

This is a really neat cookbook and about what you would expect from the likes of Dr. Seuss - advice, advisories, and tips, tons of easy-to-read & easy-to-follow recipes, and big, bold, and beautiful illustrations of many of your all-time favorite Dr. Seuss characters!
