Sweetverse #2

Lola & the Millionaires: Part One

Rate this book
Lola Barnes only wants one thing, to get her life under control. No more chasing alphas who abuse and toss away betas like her. No more hiding in her cousin’s apartment licking wounds that won’t heal. Armed with her dream job and her less than dreamy apartment, Lola is ready to start a new chapter of her life without alphas. But that’s easier said than done when one stumbling incident after another leads Lola closer to an alluring pack of captivating men.

These alphas are everything Lola dreamed of, but they already have an omega—a playful male model who won’t stop flirting with her. And Lola is only a beta, one who comes with deep scars and an unshakeable aversion to alphas and their powerful presences. If only she could resist their perfect beta, Leo, whose patience and determination to see her heal breaks down one wall after another.

When the alpha who all but destroyed Lola tries to start a game of cat and mouse that’s all claws, the safest place for Lola may be the one she’s most terrified of, in the arms of an alpha pack.

Gah! This book is just as good as I remember! Better even! And the narrators were almost perfect. In fact the female narrator Melissa Schwairy would get a 5. I’ve been lucky lately in finding female narrators I really like. Jarman Day was good too but he’s not overtaking my current favorites.

Original Review 5/29-5/30/21

This book is my happy place.

I just want to say thanks to Phuong for telling me what a cinnamon roll is because it turns out they have always been one of my favorite things. And this fabulous book is full of them! Four delightfully delicious alphas, one sexy as sin beta and a flirty hot omega! This, ladies and gents is how you write an adorable RH!

Just my 2nd book by Kathryn Moon and she’s proving that she can suck me right in.

Lola reminds me of Anna from the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs. She’s already joined my group of favorite broken characters that I need to protect. I’m really looking forward to see who’s going to save her. Perhaps more than one.

Damn, those flashbacks are done too well, heartbreaking.

Leo’s pretty wonderful. They all are really. I imagine being surrounded by these men would be similar to a relaxing bubble bath.

Starting to think that Kathryn is my go to RH writer.

I can’t get enough of Lola and Leo’s interactions, I can’t stop giggling like a school girl. And her dance with Leo and Rake? I wanna be in that sandwich!

And Caleb is the most adorable mother hen that doesn’t know what to do with himself.

Is it the strongest alpha that could give up control?

Oooh, Kathryn Moon is a naughty bish! I thought she gave me an orgy in A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor. Nope, that couldn’t even compare to this. Holy smokes!

It was lovely of him when he gave up control but when Matthieu took it back? Everything!

This is going into my group of favorite reads.

TW for sexual assault

No one writes a reverse harem like Kathryn Moon. I really enjoyed this book and how sweet Lola's romance was with all of her men. She slowly developed a relationship with Leo and things just went from there and I was so obsessed with how obsessed all of the guys were with Lola. They were so sweet and so patient and cared so much about her wellbeing. Lola was hurt in the past and they were determined to make sure she was safe and that never happened to her again. I do, though, wish this had more of a plot. The external conflict was dragged out and only really mentioned by the end where it was left on a cliffhanger for the next book. I wanted more of that throughout the book to keep the plot more engaging beyond just Lola falling for the guys and them falling for her. The relationships in this book were so interesting and complex and I loved how the guys all had a special connection with each other and how Lola had a different connection with each of them. I'm so glad I picked this up and I can't wait to read more in this series!

4 I Definitely Wasn't Safe, I Was Ruined Stars ⭐

Stupid as it was, I had already decided to see things through with these men to the bitter brutal end, even if there would be nothing left of myself when it was over. The destruction was too sweet to resist.

I guess you immediately know that if a story is written over two books it's going to be a long winded affair or an epic love affair. Honestly I haven't decided yet with Lola and the Millionaires.

Although there was a lot of backstory, trauma, and fresh starts to wade through, the writing was solid to keep me invested. When we first meet Lola, she is barely holding it together.

Having come out of a destructive relationship, Lola is finally getting out there and starting a new job. Unfortunately it brings her in the direct line of Alphas, the kind of men she wants to be avoiding.

I loved how different paths and the men Lola meets along the way have led her here. To a diverse pack completely enthralled by her and eager to welcome Lola into the fold.

It all starts with Leo, who Lola almost hooks up with at a bar. He is a total godsend. Followed by her new bosses who happen to be Alphas. Throw in a mischievous Omega, and Lola's defences don't stand a chance since all these men belong to the same pack.

Right this is where the dynamics get a little sticky for me. When there are so many men to contend with, (Beta, Omega, Alphas) as part of a RH, its going to take a long while for Lola to trust and form relationships with each of them. And it did.

It's hard rating this, Part One, because it was slow for me but I anticipate that the next book is going to give me all the connections, sexual proclivities and affection I'm craving for. Especially bang sessions with the Alphas. Well I hope!

Probably 4 stars, but I'm bumping it up to 5 because I'm in a good mood. I wish more Omegaverse reverse harems were like this one. I'm actually open to stories with polyamorous relationships, but it has to be done in a way I like, and I liked it here. The commentary on gender & sexuality was interesting & made me happy to read. I'd go into more detail but I'm too tired atm. I'm definitely reading the next book because I soo want to see Lola get it on with Caleb & Wes. Very pleased with how things progressed with Matthieu. Loved the male Omegas portrayal too.

Full review to come. Maybe.

4.5 stars, rounded up.

Sometimes, I think making the leap into becoming a book blogger is the best thing I've ever done, because it means I get to read all these AMAZING books EARLY. Case in point: Lola and the Millionaires.

We met her in the first book to this series, where we learn that she's a deeply traumatised beta woman who's always wanted to be an omega, and ends up in the clutches of two abusive alphas. From that moment I've been dying for her story. Even then, she seemed so much more interesting than her best friend Baby, the omega who was the focus of Book One. Baby is okay but Lola is brilliant.

I've been reading omegaverse for a while, and every single book has an alpha male with an omega female. It's a fun formula, but my heart has always gone out to the betas, who seem to be overlooked in every single one of these books. Kathryn Moon has tapped into that to bring us this - the most original omegaverse story I've ever read.

It's been a year since the events of the first book, and Lola is slowly improving, but she still has deep-seated issues and very low self-worth. This is delicately unpacked throughout the book in a very moving way. When she meets a pack of men that includes an omega male, a beta male, and several alphas (the 'Millionaires') she starts learning to let other people in.

I really loved almost every single character in the book. Lola, obviously. Also Rakim, the omega male. I think his portrayal was spot on: I was worried he'd be really deferential and ultra-submissive, which is not something I enjoy, but he doesn't come across as that at all. There are five other members to the pack and we don't get to know all of them very well in this installment, but there is a second half to the book so I expect the relationships are furthered there.

Only a couple of minor points detracted from my enjoyment. The first is that one of the harem members, Mathieu, is 20 years older than Lola. Unlike most, I don't actually like the older man trope, but I understand that's just personal preference. Of more pressing concern, however, is the fact that he has a girlfriend at the beginning of the book and emotionally cheats on her with Lola for a while before the breakup.

Apart from that, I tore through this book - stayed up until 2 a.m. Cannot wait for the second part of the duet to hit my Kindle.

September 2024: 3 years later, and this is still a massive hit. The audiobook is impeccable.

-

I’m officially obsessed.

This is probably one of the best books I've read this year. The way I got invested like my life depended on it was fucking insane. Baby was great but in this book stakes were higher and the story dealt with more mature and complex content that only made me swooned like four hundred times.

The way Kathryn Moon made me learn about each memberfrom the pack and their dynamic with each other was simply sublime. I was so surprised to discover some of those dynamics, and the way Lola fitted so effortlessly with them was impecable. Moon's writing is incredible, it created the perfect atmosphere to grab me by the throat and refuse to let go.

An attempt at creating external conflict with the stalker and the poach of the magazin was made, and sure it was a nice touch, but I really didn't need anything else from Lola and the Diamonds pack to keep reading. Plus, this book has some amazing diversity. Some members of the pack were straight and some were bisexual. There was a British Alpha, a French alpha, a Hispanic beta, a POC Omega and Alpha... needless to say, I was in fucking heaven.

The focal point in this story is Lola and how she's suffering from PTSD from some past sexual abuse. It's been a year and she's spent that time hidden, suffering night terros and panic attacks. Once she meets her future pack, things don't solve magically, and I loved how real and raw her process was.

I was feeling as protective of Lola as the rest of the pack while reading. The little flashback scenes made me feel very uneasy. But her self-loathe was worse. How she blamed herself for everything and believed she didn’t deserve to be loved or to be important only because of her designation actually hit home in many ways. Who hasn't had a moment in their life where they thought they weren't relevant? It's a very human emotion and our baby girl was strong enough to realize she needed help and sought out a therapist. I was so proud of her for that.

Leo was made comfort personified. He made Lola feel safe, cherished and loved from the moment they met. The way he showed his affection unapologetically was the hottest thing for me. He was a Beta and the glue keeping together the pack and I just loved that.

Rake!!!! I swooned a million times with him. I loved the interpretation Moon made of male omegas. His relationships with everyone in his pack and with Lola were amazing. I loved the contrast between how he presented such a masculine look and the way he experienced and enjoyed sex.

Lola's relationship with Loe and Rake is the heart of this book and what a beautiful organ. The scene where they dance together left me panting. Their chemistry was amazing and the love and affection shining through their scenes was pure comfort.

Caleb was a big British marshmallow. His awkwardness around Lola at first was so cute, I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time he interacted with her. At first he seemed to be this scary mofo and then he turned out to be this adorable mother hen and I just loved that.

Matthieu won me over so fast I got whiplash. At first I was hesitant because I’m not into age gaps in my romance and he was definitely a silver fox but then he turned out to be a very sexy, protective silver fox, strong enough to willingly give his power away and I gave in. So there is that.

Wes is the kind of character I usually gravitate towards. He was the silent type who’s secretly a softy and I. Am. Here. For. It. I can’t wait to get more of him in the next book.

I loved the dynamic already in place within the pack. The idea of a bonded pack of 4 alphas, 1 beta and 1 omega who had an open relationship and different types of relationships among them was kinda mind blowing in the best way. It was such a nice surprise to learn Leo and Rake were together, since they were beta and omega. Or that Rake and Matthieu had a platonic relationship. Or how Rake and Wes were like brothers. And Caleb with Leo and Rake… hot damn.

The scene during Rake’s heat and that amazing foursome kind of changed my life for the better. And then Caleb and Cyrus getting it on together while watching Rake, Lola and Leo… 🔥🔥🔥

I’m telling you, this book has the best established relationships. And the way Lola fits with them and changes their dynamics for the better, phew 😮‍ atta girl.

Spoilers ahead, 2 very sad *

I read this immediately after Baby's book and forgot to write a review which means I can't remember everything I'd have liked to say. What stuck with me however was how many times I cringed during this

So we know that Lola has always wanted to be an Omega, there's a sense of desperation in her actions that made me sad. When Baby went into her heat Lola "borrowed" a bit of her scent and attracted the attentions of 2 truly horrific Alphas....well 1 more than the other. She tried so hard to be an Omega she suffered humiliation repeatedly at the hands of these men...until one night things got way out of hand and she finally left.
Now she's still regularly hooking up with guys (lordt)but is off her Alpha fix, she meets a Beta that eventually leads her to his group of Alphas. This is a 2 book series so we get lots of time as Lola recovers from her trauma and eventually falls in love with the guys.

My problems
I think like Baby, Lola did not need to be with every member of her pack. It was clear she had a connection to 2 maybe 3 of the guys why'd the author push for bonds with the entire pack. It wasn't smooth and sexy as with Baby, it felt gross and desperate and made me equal parts sad and mad
We are told an Omega's body is made to take an Alpha's knot, everytime Lola tried to take one I imagined her privates stretching as during childbirth and that wasn't sexy and AGAIN made me see her as desperate
In Baby's book when the pack found their Omega everyone settled their ass down, even those that she wasn't with sexually. Here? The men have a male Omega who they've bonded and some of them sleep with...but they still each sleep with whomever they want! Ummmmm no dammit that's not how this shit works (according to me lol)
The writing isn't bad and I'd try this author again but these 2 books just left me with a really bad taste in my mouth and an urgent need to shower

This review covers both books concerning Lola and of course contains massive spoilers. I'm bummed because I really loved Baby's book

h was in a really bad relationship previously
The H's are sorta together but still sleep with others. When they get with Lola I think they kept it in the family after that
Lola was attacked by her ex
We get bits of flashbacks to her traumatic past

woo my first omegaverse book

and i did some research and few of the results were dope af

’Female Alphas are often described as having both a penis and a vagina or having a clitoris that extends into one when they are aroused so they can impregnate people’

“Mpreg" male pregnancy, the only males that can pregnant in omegaverse though are Omegas

(etc etc source : ur mom)

but im still confused. in this book these alpha / beta / omegas arent wolves? so what are they? (and fyi those research results werent on the books so im not sure they applied on this world)

feelings

rake (coz of that one pov of his when lola first visited their house was funny, ive declared hes my fav outta all of em)

”I have a crush on you,” I blurted out.
Lola’s smile bloomed, and a soapy hand reached up from the water to cover her face for a brief second before lowering again.
“I know. I have a crush on you too,” she said.”

caleb whenever lola had a panick attack :

”Is it me?” Caleb asked. “I can’t tell if I should go or shepherd you somewhere to sit down or—”

still caleb :

’I pushed up off the couch and headed for the kitchen before I accidentally planted myself in her lap.’

mother hen 😆

wes was the often overlooked alpha and most (u can say insecure but not really) unassuming bout lola but i liked him :

’Wes looked over his shoulder at me and we blushed at the exact same moment.’

there are the others (leo, matt, cyrus) but they were meh for me

the smut was mediore and no one was that hot (wouldnt mind, had we get more sweet moments instead of sex scenes). i liked the harems, sure, no one was an asshole but thats whats missing. not all assholes are hot but most of them are (especially the hate to love goodness dynamic). so what im trying to say is that this was fine bcs the smut werent that hot and there werent enough sweet moments to balance it all (bcs srsly i could live without that good of a smut but no swoony scenes? whats even the point). im being repetitive BUT AT LEAST NOT ANOTHER DNF. so a succes

moi fav is : rake
least : the silver fox one (matt). he’s like in his late 40s and i dont find him hot. just an old man

It feels mean to give three stars to this book because I actually really liked it but the cringyness of some of this dialogue and also the random skips in each chapter really brought it down for me. At the beginning I thought I would LOVE this because I appreciated the plot of Lola's healing and a slow development of romance, but that quickly was thrown out the window lol. It still finished up nicely and it felt realistic (as much as a story like this could feel realistic..) and in the same night I finished it, I already got 40% into part two.

Tbh this book is much more heavy on plot than smut, but coming from book one where it was all smut all the time, maybe I just feel that way in comparison hahaha. It helped that I enjoyed the main character's career and her recovery and the love interests enough to enjoy the plot as much as the sexiness.

Oh my, that was hot and smutty! 🥵🥵

✅ Reverse-harem
✅ Omegaverse
VERY EXPLICIT Smut (MF, MMF, MMMMF)
✅ Pace
✅ Characters and relationships
✅🆗 Plot
❗️❗️ Trigger warning: Mentions of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse. A big part of this book focuses on Lola living with her PTSD, having nightmares, and panic attacks.

We can understand this story without having read the first book of the series, but I would still recommend reading Baby’s book first to be able to fully appreciate Lola’s story.

I glared at my reflection again. Limp blonde hair. Hollow cheeks. Lips chapped from nervous biting and picking. I couldn’t decide if I was the before picture in a self-improvement ad, or the after image from a serious wreckage.

I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. This time we follow Baby’s friend, Lola, as she is trying to get a grip on her life, and deal with her traumatizing experience with the Alphas in Baby & the Late Night Howlers. This one also deals with darker and more mature subjects, and overall the stakes are higher, and I think that’s why I liked it more.

After having been physically, psychologically, and sexually abused by Buzz and Indie, Lola swore to never get involved with alphas ever again. She does not mind betas, as long as it’s nothing serious and there is no alpha involved. Everything changes though when she meets Leo, the hot and sweet beta that is already bonded to an alpha. Lola can’t seem to resist Leo’s pull, nor can she resist his sweet and sunny omega, and before she knows it, she gets pulled into their pack’s dynamic. Things seem to be going well for Lola, until Indie reappears, intent on getting his revenge on Lola.

One look at me, and Leo would know. Maybe not all the details, but he’d know I’d fallen apart again. How many times could I reasonably expect a guy to put up with my bullshit before he packed it in and gave up the pretense?

Poor Lola thinks she is not worthy of love and that whatever relationship she has with Leo, Rake or even their alphas will only last for a while until they get tired of her and leave her. I like the more complex dynamic of this pack. It’s not the same as in the other omegaverse stories where all the alphas are devoted to their omegas and in a relationship with pack members only. Not every alpha of this pack is romantically involved with Rake (their omega), and overall, they are more open to having relationships with persons that are not part of their pack.

Lola is a strong and resilient character, and I loved her. She is likable and generous, and she is trying her best to get back on track and go on with her life. She does not want to be defined by her trauma, and she tries her best to find strategies that help her feel better with herself and better with other people. She does not hesitate to set her boundaries, but she also knows that she needs sometimes to take a leap of fate and trust other people in order for her to be able to heal.

“I was safe here, and in spite of the weakness they’d seen from me last night, I was accepted.”

I also liked the fact that the relationships are slowly built, especially since Lola has severe PTSD, and there is no “fated mate” or “heat hormones” to blame for insta-lust or insta-love. The physical attraction is there from the start, but things move slowly until Lola is 100% sure that she is ready to get more involved with the pack. They are all kind and caring, and they let her take control and set her own pace. It was adorable to see how they were all trying to help her feel at home with them, whether they were sexually attracted to her or not, they just wanted to help her and show her that she deserved to be loved, no matter what she thought.

Rakim Oren had charm down to a science.

This is a smutty book, and while things between Lola and the alphas are moving at a slower pace, the same cannot be said for her relationship with Leo and Rake. There are many very explicit spicy scenes that involve Lola and one or a few men. There is also some sexual tension as the alphas are trying to give Lola breathing room but are obviously attracted to her.

Leo is the beta of his pack, and he is SO sweet and caring! I fell in love with him. He took care of Lola, made her feel safe, and was willing to do anything to help her from the very start. Rake has a sunny and bubbly personality, and it complemented Leo and Lola perfectly. The interactions between the three of them were so cute (and sexy)!

Matthieu is the older alpha of the pack, and he has this mature and calm aura. I am not attracted to older men, but I don’t mind age gaps in fictional romances, and Matt definitely is a silver fox. The fact that he is in his mid-forties while Lola is in her mid-twenties was not awkward at all, because he gave her this secure and grounding feeling that comes with age and experience.

Caleb and Cyrus are sweet alphas too. Caleb is trying his best to make Lola feel comfortable and it was adorable to see him be so awkward around her at first. Cyrus also has a sunny personality, and while he is Lola’s boss and is not romantically involved with her so far, I can see that happening in the next book.

Wes is the quietest and most mysterious member of the pack. He is the tall silent guy who’s always there to have your back and obviously has a not-so-secret soft side. I have no idea what his relationship with Lola will look like, but I definitely want to see more of him in the next book.

There is also a lot of variety in this pack, which I adored. The pack has straight and bisexual members, as well as French, British, and Hispanic members. It was nice to see all this diversity!

There is a sub-plot or corporative conflict and maybe espionage, but I am not sure where this will lead in the next book. I think the main issue will be to track down Indie, and I think the whole job drama was pointless maybe? I guess I’ll see…

On a side note, as is often the case with French characters written by English authors, there are a few French mistakes. Not enough to prevent me from understanding or appreciating the book, but enough to annoy me, because how hard can it be to have a "real" francophone proofread a few sentences before publishing the book? 🙄

This is my first Omegaverse book and the concept is so interesting but I think it didn’t reach the potential it had, so it fell a bit flat to me.
Even the smut left much to be desired 🥴

The majority of the plot was spent with the h forming a relationship with three men of the pack, the rest felt like standbys; Wes was one of them and it was the one I was most interested in, since he was so mysterious and broody but he talked 2 times 😭

4 ⭐️ Even if you're not into omegaverse, this is your sign to read this book

We revolved around Rake the way a pack did around their omega; he was our sun to orbit. But Lola was like a magnetic force, drawing us in and holding us together, creating one planet out of many.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ omegaverse (not shifters)
✨ reverse-harem
✨ she's a beta with a traumatic past
✨ they want her in their pack
✨ billionaire romance
✨ boss x employee
✨ age-gap
✨ slow burn
✨ 4/5 spice
✨ mm / mf / mmf / mmmm / mmfmm
✨ mating instincts, pheromones, biting, knotting, bonding marks, anal
✨ emotional healing journey
✨ found family
✨ angst
✨ HEA
✨ TW: physical, psychological, and sexual abuse (flashbacks), emotional trauma

My Thoughts:

I've only read a few omegaverse stories, but all of them have been so smut focused with little regard to plot or emotional impact. But that is definitely not the case here. Yes, this story does involve one woman finding romance between six incredibly sexy men, but it's so much more than that.

Lola & the Millionaires: Part 1 is a meaningful story with a perfect combination of smut and substance. Lola, a beta, suffers from past abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional), and while she's learned to managed it in order to get through the day, she hasn't really worked through the trauma. That all changes when she meets a gorgeous beta at a club. Throughout this story, Lola embarks on a beautiful healing journey with the love and support of a pack of six incredible men. PS: This is only part one to the story, so not every relationship is fully explored. Each man offers something different to Lola, and they all are incredibly patient and understanding of what she needs.

For anyone with trauma, I think they'll find ways to relate to Lola and what she has gone through. It was moving how this group came together to support Lola and provide her with reassurances when the world hasn't been so kind to her. And by the end of Part 1, while she isn't completely healed, she has her spark back and a confidence in herself that's been missing since before the abuse. The men help empower Lola till she realizes she has enough strength to empower herself - all because they want to see her shine.

This story does an amazing job navigating the effects of abuse and provides hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Now, the smut. Damn this book is filled with pages and pages of thrilling sexual encounters. These men are hot and are so eager to please Lola. 🥵 While there is one scene where there are five people, she really only has sex with three of the guys: Leo, Rake, and Matthieu. My personal favorites are Leo, because he's just so damn sweet, and Matthieu because HELLO DADDY. I can't wait to see her relationship with the rest of the guys evolve, especially Wes.

While I'm giving this 4-stars, there really isn't anything I dislike about the story. I'm just not huge into reverse-harem, and while this story does it well, it's just not a trope I love. I reserve 5-stars for stories I'd want to re-read, and I can't say I would re-read this, hence, the 4-stars.

I've seen so many amazing reviews about this duet on TikTok, but I have to say, it was not really for me. My main problem with this book was Lola herself. I was really irritated with Lola for the entire book. She is extremely whiney, and she spends both books basically complaining about her life as a beta and being very "woe is me." She felt so sorry for herself, even when these men are repeatedly showing her love and appreciation. I couldn't stand her. She was desperate to be the main character and always the victim in her endless internal monologue.

Anyways, clearly I'm not really a fan of this omegaverse. My favorite omegaverse continues to be Pack Darling by Lola Rock, which I re-read alll the time, and I'd recommend reading that before this one.

Man, I just loved this. Lola was wonderful, and everything about this book was just sweet, sweet, sweet.

I'm sure I will re-read this again and again.

Re-read March 2023
I do love the first book in this series, but I have to say the Lola duology is my favorite. Partially, I think, because the ratio of sex to plot is much better (this one is like 65% plot, 35% sex, whereas Baby's book is probably 50% plot, 50% sex ... just a bit too much imo). I really like the story in this one, and all the characters. I love watching Lola find her strength and self-worth under the care of this amazing pack.

This is my favourite comfort read/story to get me out of a slump. I read this duology at least twice a year so I think it’s time to bump this up to five stars for me!

I didn't expect to cry in the first 20 pages of an omegaverse book, but here we are.

Note: I highly recommend you read Baby's book before delving into Lola's story. It will be so much more meaningful.

Lola's story hit me deeply because of personal reasons what I related to. I really appreciate the careful way Kathryn dealt with Lola's trauma and the delicacy she used, it meant the world to me and actually really helped me, too. Lola is a character I related to on so many levels and it heightened my experience reading this duet. Please be aware this story has a massive TW for SA.

Lola's omegaverse journey is a slowburn and her relationships with the men build up over the course of this story. You see how she slowly lets each of them into her life and forms a connection with them indivdually before allowing herself to be fully consumed by their love--that being said, these men were suckers for Lola the second they saw her and were able to respect that she needed space and time and waited for her to be ready for their affection, even if it meant she never would be.

While I love all the men, Leo has a soft spot in my heart and I have no shame picking favourites.

This is my new favourite scene of all time btw:
Leo had his back to me as I entered the kitchen, his white shirtsleeves rolled up tan arms as he poured batter into a waffle iron. Which was weird because… “I don’t own a waffle maker.”
“You…didn’t,” Leo said slowly, glancing over his shoulder with innocent, wide eyes.

This story is also a lot more plot heavy than Baby's, but this is also a duet and lends itself to that development, too. I thought the progression of the plot was well built, but I was surprised that part one didn't end on a massive cliffhanger (I think Tate James just has me terrified any time I read anything that is a continuous romance plot).

Sigh. I want to re-read all these books asap. Kathryn Moon has easily become a new fave author and auto-buy author for me! Her omegaverse books are a true masterpiece.

Oh Moon you absolute beautiful author you. You’ve outdone yourself.
My best read this year no doubt about it.

Baby was excellent but I guess my taste must run more to the finer things in life because Millionaires beat Bikers everyday of the week.

The absolute best thing about this week was the choice to revolve it around a beta. In the Omegaverse it’s all about the Alphas and Omegas. Betas are always overlooked, and it’s given Lola a bit of a complex. She has problems and they stem from a society that overlooks her designation, aswel as the abuse at the hands of Alphas who took advantage of her. It was so well handled and I totally bought into this world and the issues Betas have, I’ll never read another OV without thinking “how does the beta feel”....
Lolas journey of finding her self worth and overcoming her abuse and fear of Alphas was a perfectly paced, perfectly romantic, perfectly written... masterpiece.

To have part 2 released on the same day
... Bless you Kathryn ... bless you .

I need more from of this kind of OV. I’m over the dominant Alphas with dubcon, this is the way forward! It’s got all the good stuff and none of the bad. It was choc full of sex scenes, as is usually for a Moon book, but wow she knows how to keep it fresh. Every guy had his own “thing” and I find it hard to pick a favourite.

I rarely reread a book but I know this will be one I need to read again.

Review for both parts.
I honestly might love this one more than Baby???
Kathryn Moon has done it again: another series I'm addicted to.

Look, I have a difficult time liking Omegaverse outside of this series. These books are sweet and loving and in this book in particular, the relationships build slow as Lola is built back up to overcome her trauma. Tear-jerker for sure! So soft though and the writing -- I couldn't stop reading. There is definitely sizzle though and tons of laughter to be had.

Read this a year or so ago, but I’m ashamed I hadn’t reviewed it. It’s one of my favs and it’s time for a reread!

So…it’s just as great as I remembered. Even better actually. This is such a great portrayal of supportive, healthy, communicative relationships. It left me feeling warm and safe and happy, despite the horrible trauma that happened to Lola a year ago.

Each MMC in the pack has their own personality and characteristics that differentiate them from one another. They definitely don’t blend together. If anyone wants book boyfriends, here you go. Then aspire to find yourself a partner that’s like Leo, Rake, Matthieu, Wes, Caleb or Cyrus. Fr.

Lola is such a wonderful FMC to read about. She’s actively trying to branch out more to overcome her fears and she’s not afraid to ask for help. These guys have been kind, patient and respectful and you can see how much that nurturing has helped Lola. From beginning to end you can see glaring changes- of course she’s not “cured” or no longer traumatized- how she’s no longer letting it control her life. She’s being taught to ask for what she wants, to speak her mind, to take time to think on what she needs. And it makes me so happy.

This book is also sexy af. Like omg 🥵 Idk why I forgot, but I’m here for it lol.
I know some might be upset that it is a cliffhanger, however, it would’ve been a very long book otherwise. There was so much development in the story, characters, and world that it needed a part 2.

This was my first omegaverse and it’s no wonder why I’m obsessed with this world after reading this book. I’m so glad I was rec’d this and so glad I discovered Kathryn Moons other wonderful books because of it. Already on part 2 and it’s perfect.

I think I am in love with every single main character & that is kinda unusual for me lol but I do have my favs *cough* leo & matthieu *cough*

lola

I have seen in a few reviews that people dislike my baby and im not accepting any slander please and thank you <3

my witty & dominant queen.

leo

There’s a reason why we met this man first because he’s just perfect throughout and his sex scene with lola in the bathroom, against the door, the couch and then the floor? ahahahhahaa so hot. one of my favourites.

Leo hummed, tongue lapping up my quickly accumulating arousal, shoulders wedging my thighs open and helping to keep me upright. “How much time do we have, gorgeous?”

“Wha-? Um…thirty to forty-five-oh, fuck, Leo”

ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD, DADDYYYY

matthieu

This sexy french man was feeding my age gap needs <3
he’s kind of shy but soooooo good at reading Lola’s body language, and his clinical side really just disintegrates for her. Again, so hot.

“I want you dripping down my wrist,” Matthieu said, gazing down at me, hair mussed from my hands [….] I want to fuck you with my fingers- hm, and maybe my mouth too, I think- until we get to the house.”

I DONT CARE IF THESE QUOTES CRINGE YOU OUT BECAUSE NOT MEEE

rakim

This girl. This fucking girl needed to be mine, one way or another.

I was wary at first, I thought maybe rakim just wanted to have sex with her and leave but NOPE. he was the first one of the pack to acknowledge his feelings about asking her to join <3

and his desperation for her during the heat? ah something about a man panting, whimpering and on his knees just does something to me ok

wes

I think Wes might get into my top 3 because I love love love me the gentle bodyguard trope.

“I'm on my way, sweetheart.”

“Good girl. Is your door locked?”

cyrus

His eyes were slanted, almost catlike, eternally teasing, and the table was quiet before I realized our stares were locked together, the pair of us smiling.

I THOUGHT CYRUS was going to be ON LOLA because he was so flirty at the start but then his interest kinda decreased. Book two *fingers crossed* he comes back with ENERGY but still, we love a respectful man.

in short:
this book was not perfect but idk i read through this so quickly. some of the relationships need a bit more depth but that's ok because book 2 can fix that.

FIRST READ: AUG 2021
REREAD: MAY 2022, SEPT 2023, DEC 2023, FEB 2024

This is my ultimate comfort book. The one I'll always reach for when I’m feeling just down on life. I love Lola and all her sweet guys; Leo, Rake, Matt, Caleb, Cyrus and Wes - they are perfection.

Lola is just beginning her journey in this book. Even though she's living her best life with a new job in the beauty department of her favourite magazine, she's still recovering from the traumatic events covered in Baby and the Late Night Howlers (Sweet Omegaverse #1). Her inner saboteur, that negative Nancy at the back of her mind, is putting her through it, and it’s very relatable. I feel like I've had a voice in my head at different points in my life that told me I don't deserve good things. It's heartwarming to see Lola flourish with the pack around her and start to process her feelings.

The spice is 10/10, and the story and pacing are excellent. Overall just a fantastic book from Kathryn Moon that I'm sure I'll reread again again.

FIRST READ: AUGUST 2021
I thought I loved Baby & the Late Night Howlers, but somehow this was even better! Ugh. This book might be my favourite read so far this year. Five stars are not enough. I love Lola as an FMC, and all her men were so captivating and distinct. Where can I find myself a Leo?! And a Rake?! I couldn’t put this book down. The story was just perfect!

The formula I followed:
1. Secure a copy of Lola and the Millionaires: pt 1
2. Gush the appropriate amount to author friend while still maintaining a sense of dignity (semi-successful)
3. Obsessively complete editing and teacher work so that I can binge read without guilt
4. Tell myself that I'll just read one more page a million times then say f*ck it because it's already 4:45 AM, and you're in this to win it now
5. Realize at the tender age of 29 that your educational system has failed you for your entire life because it turns out that perfection is not spelled P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N; it's actually L-O-L-A

Lola and the Millionaires: pt 1 was really all the things that I both wanted and needed, and, all jokes aside, I'm starting to wonder if Kathryn Moon has spent time in a circus because she's a masterful juggler.

There are so many arcs that we're following in LATM, yet the ball doesn't drop once. We're being taken on a journey of romantic love, self-love, partnership, recovery, identity, and reclaiming one's brightness after someone has tried to snuff out your light. And really, thus far, it's being quite beautifully done.

Lola is captivating as a leading lady because she's a contradiction- she's this vibrant woman whose soul shines as fiercely as her hair once did, but at the same time, she's a lonely, hurting human who's having trouble reconciling how to live the life she wants- or even what kind of life she wants- after experiencing something that made her question everything that she'd once wanted. In short, she's so many of us at the same time, and Moon does an excellent job of making Lola into someone that has setbacks, triumphs, giggles, and everything else that she needs to become this fleshed out person who we want to root for (despite being totally jealous of her so many times) because we genuinely LIKE her and want her to find that happiness again.

In book one, some of the men stand out more strongly than others, but for me, this was a success in storytelling because although there are dips into the mens' perspectives, we're following Lola's lead. Therefore, the men claim more of the spotlight in the story as Lola is ready for them to take up a greater presence in her life. Despite this, I never felt like any of the men were ignored. We get perspectives from men that Lola's not romantically involved with yet, the chance to see their view of the world, their pack, and her, so they all felt real and heard to me, without anyone fading into the background so that I had to ask- wait, who's that dude again?

Leo, Rake (Rakim), Caleb, Cyrus, Matthieu, and Wes are a blend of the human "types" that we find in omegaverse novels- beta, omega, and alpha. The pack is a blend of different relationships- romantic/sexual, platonic/brotherly, platonic/friendly, and this is one of my favorite things are reading Moon's books- I adore and root for and squeal about the relationships between the men just as much as Lola's connections with each of them. She just writes these beautiful MM relationships (sexual or not) that are free of toxicity, where there's just honest affection, realistic banter, and chemistry that even makes the reader feel like this group men are truly a home.

Lola's millionaires are flirty, shy, awkward, decadent, bossy (yeah, I know some of you are waiting for that one, you thirsty b*tches), thoughtful, and so much more. I honestly like all of them, and Moon does such a good job with them that although I love them all, two of my favorites are ones that start off in the background- Caleb & Wes. I just consider that the epitome of writing a story well. When your characters can captivate your audience even when they've yet to have the chance to steal the show, you're doing something right.

Overall, I am just so superbly happy (albeit tired), and despite the serious themes that this book has, I just don't feel weighed down. The writing is well done, the pacing is impeccably loyal to the journey that Lola is on, and my heart has so many feelings for this crew. Those who loved Baby and her Howlers (and I truly did) are going to fall just as in love with Lola and her millionaires. Book one ends in what some might consider a little bit of a cliffhanger situation, but there should be no hate, lovely readers, because part two comes out the same darn day.

Be still my heart because there's more of this rollercoaster to come.

This is very different than I expected! Lola has very bad PTSD, so trigger warnings for a character with past sexual assault and abuse. It’s a huge part of the story that Lola is working on getting past her debilitating PTSD and panic as a result of their trauma. This story is much more complex and slower going than omegaverse books I’ve read before. Lola isn’t an omega, but she starts to become apart of a pack with 4 alphas, 1 beta, and 1 omega all of them being male. Although this was slow it allowed for a lot of development and individual characterization of all 7 of these characters. I really adored every character and I’m intrigued to see how their story ends i need to read part two next month !!

Reread 1/25 - look, in these trying times I just want to get lost in my comfort books so that’s what I’m doing. Lola will always be that for me ❤️

Reread 1/23: this continues to be my favorite series to come back to. These books feel like a warm hug. It seemed fitting to start the year with a reread 🥰

Loveddddd!

I love reverse harem romance but this book was so different. The world this series is based on focuses on Alpha and Omega relationship, they are valued more which we see in the first book of this series that is about Lola’s friend, however, this book is about Lola who is a beta wanting to be an omega. She is traumatised because finally when she thought an alpha wanted her, he turned out to be a bad guy and hurt her. She swore never to want an Alpha again or go near them until she gets a job in “designate”. There she meets her alpha boss and their beta, omega who show her that she belongs to their pack.

I literally did not like Lola in Baby’s book, we get glimpses of her life in there where she desperately wanted to be an omega since Beta’s are really not valued in their world but in this book she was amazing. I read other Kathryn Moon books and those were all about sex but in this one the relationship between Lola and her harem development, they got to know each other, bond and then sex. Rake was amazing, him being an omega i thought he wont like Lola with his Alpha’s but he was the first one who wanted her in their pack asap 🥺. There is also an age gap between Lola and one of the guys, Matthieu who is so sweet😭. Leo was amazing too, he loved Lola so much and wanted to protect her. The other guys were also so sweet, this book was not dark and all rather the guys were amazing and protective of Lola. They wanted her in their pack and showed her that she can be loved, Lola has a lot of insecurities but throughout the book she learned to value herself as well. There was also a threat going around in her book where one of her tormentors, Indy is alive and wants her back but the guys protect her at all cost.
