Even though I sometimes got impatient rereading this for the umpteenth time (look, I have parts nearly memorized, okay? XD), I'm really, really proud of this book. It was sometimes difficult to write, and some scenes took a very long time for me to get them where I was happy with them. There's definitely a lot of my heart in here--but don't worry, a good bit of my humor, too.

All that's left now is the boring behind the scenes publishing stuff...and getting it to you guys! Cover reveal coming Jun

It was such a thrill to be back in the amazing world Gonzalez has created. There's something about this place and its magic that feels infinite as if a thousand tales could transpire and each one would be better than the next. But … for now we have this one, the conclusion to Regulus and Adelaide's story.

The plot picks up right where we last saw our troubled heroes and takes off from there. This story was much more fast-paced and grittier than the first but still just as mesmerizing. We travel

This is a really hard review to write so I wanted to get a couple things out of the way first:

1) I've been in a not great headspace and also am not a huge fan of high stakes "the world as we know it will be destroyed and all will be left in ruin stories" so I can't accurately review parts of this book

2) this book deals with some very heavy themes. It's darker than Prince of Shadow and Ash, so absolutely read it with caution. It's a great book, but as the author herself strongly states, your ment

Thank you to the author and Wyvern Wing Press for an eARC in exchange for an honest review! Be aware this review contains SPOILERS for book one, Prince of Shadow and Ash.

"Freedom came at a cost they never expected to pay...."

Staff of Nightfall was a fantastic conclusion to this duology! Regulus and Adelaide grow more as a couple and individually. After seeing Adelaide's tenacity and strength in book one, it was hard to see her doubting her abilities and worth. My

Wow! This book hits the ground running--starting immediately where the last one left off--and pretty much doesn't stop. Regulus might be free of the sorcerer's mark, but now he and Adelaide have to stop the sorcerer's ultimate plan before he destroys everyone they love--and all of Monparth.

As in Book 1, the relationships were, for me, the standout element in SoN. In addition to Regulus and Adelaide and Regulus and Dresden (and the rest of the mercenaries), we also get to see Adelaide's parents,

This review may contain spoilers for book 1, Prince of Shadow and Ash.

Staff of Nightfall is a deliciously satisfying conclusion to The Mercenary and the Mage duology that picks up right where Prince of Shadow and Ash left off.  The pacing of this novel is spot on.  It isn’t non-stop action, but, even at calmer moments, there is a constant thread of tension that propels the story forward.  I appreciate that the foes and the other obstacles Regulus and Adelaide face are not easily vanquished.  The

Staff of Nightfall is book two in the Mercenary and the Mage duology. I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available because I enjoyed book one so much. I was not let down. It's a solid five stars from me.

The world building is deep and interesting, leaving realistic hints at even more depth. The pacing was great at the beginning and at the end. It was a little slow in the middle, when they're traveling. Sort of felt like the characters lost their sense of urgency for the overall plot. But even tha

I love the dedication to this book! Adelaide and Regulus face overwhelmingly difficult situations and have to battle their own feelings of self-doubt as they battle the threat to the kingdom. If the sorcerer succeeds it will hurt everyone they love and care about. Together they help each other be determined to do all they can to keep fighting.

*I was given an arc copy for an honest review*

Oh my heart! I laughed and cried and cheered along with Adelaide and Regulus!
The first book was good, but this one was even better! I love the world building and would've love to have read even more about it!

Gifted Arc

After pestering my poor instagram followers with me reading the first book, I started talking with the lovely author Selina and one thing led to another and I was on the list of people for the cover reveal and got the arc. YAY ME!

First and foremost I love this world! And that one person in Prince of Shadow and Ash which I hated I now hate even more. But hey, it takes a good writer to make someone hate a character that much in my opinion! So be warned he is worse in this book. The feeli
