Princess Jasmine is not like her stepsisters. She hates long dresses and sitting still and would much rather take part in the big cross-country race. So, when a fairy godmother appears with a new pair of speedy magic trainers, well, it looks like her dream has come true! That is, until she loses one of her trainers . . . how will she even finish the race? But when she goes on to WIN, was it the magic trainers or was it Jasmine's determination and belief in herself?
Great modern retake on a classical story. The princess doesn't want to just be a princess. She wants to run and participate in a competition. The fairy brings her magical running shoes (with a twist). She fights for what she wants and she rejects a marriage proposal from the prince ("It's to early for me.") My daughter and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm so sick of medieval fairy tales about passive characterless girls, who just wait for a prince.
We're so proud of you for reading "The Princess and the Shoe"! You learned something really important from Princess Jasmine's story - you don't need magic to do amazing things. Your own hard work and believing in yourself is what makes dreams come true! Just like Jasmine won the race even after losing her magic shoe, you can do anything when you try your best and never give up. Keep reading, sweetheart!

cute and adorable. a modern-day retelling of the glass slipper by a fairy god mother. The best part about the book was the sentences rhymed making it all the more fun to read. Overall the theme and the illustrations were cute even though I personally like the traditional princesses
You did a fantastic job reading "The Princess and the Shoe" by Caryl Hart. The book teaches us that true strength comes from within and not from what people see on the outside.
It's important to be yourself and use your unique skills to solve problems, just like the princess did with her running shoes.
