I read this novella in the Winter Wishes anthology.
How I love when the heroine is no-damsel-in-distress but in need of a gentle hand to prove her not every man is an abuser of the weakest.
It was a sweet tale of trust to be deserved and love to be seen as not enslavement but freedom.
Cute and passionate is the hero of this tale, no alpha male but a kind and compassionate one, ready to share the burden of the woman he gives his heart, to be a shoulder on which she can rest her head.

A few days before Christmas, Lady Georgiana Marsh has snuck onto the Earl of Hascombe’s estate to take back her colt Apollo, that her greedy, selfish father sold. He had no right to sell Georgiana's colt since her grandfather bought her as a young girl.
Unfortunately, the devastatingly handsome Daniel Kerrich, Baron de Winter, would rather spend time in the stables. Then in a drawing room, as gentlemen are suppose to do.
Which is why which is why Daniel catches the lovely beauty attempting to take her colt. When Ms. Marsh sees the mistletoe on the rafter. That is when she decides to take advantage of the Baron. By pretending she wants a kiss. The Baron de Winter was interested in this fisty beauty the moment they started sparing a discussion. So he definitely wanted to kiss Georgiana. But that pretend kiss got him a knockout so she could take her Colt.
Daniel will get his revenge. Or is he more willing to get the Lady Georgiana Marsh heart instead.
Georgiana has to deal with her greedy father, trying to get her married, destroying her mother's life & now he is trying to get her trust that her grandfather gave her. She needs to find a way to get her mom away from this selfish man. Still find a way to keep her inheritance.
When Daniel finds out more about Lady Georgiana Marsh family saga. He wants to help. But based on her childhood, & her mother torment from her father. She doesn't trust any men.
But Baron De Winter might be the man to turn her beliefs around. Can he save her, win her heart & convince the woman he loves that marriage can be a loving relationship.

While this was a short read, it encompassed quite a bit in regards to Georgiana and Daniel, but also his sister, Rheda, from the previous book. Georgiana was a wonderful heroine with valid reasons for not trusting men. I liked her transformation in trusting Daniel, and watching how his love for her was a safe place for her to land after all she had been through.

Novella, but very very nice
A short read, but good for writing for the public transportation. Not sure if 'the cancer ' was a known thing in the time period though.

Great short read
I enjoyed this short story set in the days just prior to Christmas. This is a great read if you only have an hour or two to read.

A wonderful story and romance and I loved the instant connection between Georgiana and Daniel. Sparks fly under the mistletoe for these two and a worthy happy ending.

Love Bronwen Evans writings. Sad this was such a quick read but good story. Can't wait for new books to come out.
