How do you make a lady who does not trust men, open her heart to love?
A few days before Christmas, Lady Georgiana Marsh has snuck onto the Earl of Hascombe’s estate to take back Apollo, the colt her father had no right to sell. Unfortunately, the devastatingly handsome Daniel Kerrich, Baron de Winter, would rather spend time in the stables than in his brother-in-law’s drawing room and catches her in the act.
It will take more than a sensual smile to win this lady’s heart…
Before Daniel can arrest the stunning beauty, she distracts him with a kiss under the mistletoe and… knocks him out cold. Now Daniel is determined to get his revenge. The only trouble is, the cunning vixen seems immune to his charms, that is, until Daniel takes ownership of the one thing she wants—Apollo. What is Georgiana prepared to give him for the colt? Suddenly he knows exactly what he wants in return—a beautiful hoyden with a stubborn streak to match his own. Can he convince the fiercely independent Georgiana that he is a man worthy of her love?

I read this novella in the Winter Wishes anthology.
How I love when the heroine is no-damsel-in-distress but in need of a gentle hand to prove her not every man is an abuser of the weakest. It was a sweet tale of trust to be deserved and love to be seen as not enslavement but freedom. Cute and passionate is the hero of this tale, no alpha male but a kind and compassionate one, ready to share the burden of the woman he gives his heart, to be a shoulder on which she can rest her head.

Can he convince the fiercely independent Georgiana that he is a man worthy of her love? Georgiana and Daniel make a perfect couple. With a father who is cruel and treacherous it is amazing how he kept the daughter from her life. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. Bronwen Evans writes a good book.
While this was a short read, it encompassed quite a bit in regards to Georgiana and Daniel, but also his sister, Rheda, from the previous book. Georgiana was a wonderful heroine with valid reasons for not trusting men. I liked her transformation in trusting Daniel, and watching how his love for her was a safe place for her to land after all she had been through.
A short novella, a daughter trying to protect her mother and a young man visiting his sister meet whilst she is trying to steal a spirited colt. I originally read this as part of the Winter Wishes Boxset and freely give this review.
A wonderful story and romance and I loved the instant connection between Georgiana and Daniel. Sparks fly under the mistletoe for these two and a worthy happy ending.
