I loved this volume! I was very curious about the mysterious fourth member of the “little shits”. I’m glad we got to meet him and experience his mysterious power which I’m preeetty sure I understand? I need to see more to confirm.

I love this world so much already. Although everything Q hayashisa does is perfect. This world is very reminiscent of Dorohedoro while also being something entirely different and unique!

I can’t wait for volume 3

Content warnings: Gore, non-consensual medical experimentation, skeletons

The weirdness here takes an existential turn as our protagonists visit the equivalent of an IKEA in space. I won’t give too much away, but the staff at this mysterious space store made my stomach churn both in design and origin.

What particularly delighted me were the continuity interaction with Shimada Death, my new big tiddy goth girlfriend. We see her in dangerous action both in and out of her design and it’s worthy of a chef’s kiss.

This volume gets gruesome with the introduction of Hajime Damemaru, a self-proclaimed human who cannot die. He is found in pieces and is considered one of the “Four Little Shits,” which includes our three heroes. I have very nervous feelings about their sense of teamwork. I’m looking forward to seeing that plot development.

More of the same from the first volume: A goofy, clueless protagonist bopping pointlessly between strange locales and brief battles while meeting colorful characters who either like him for no reason or want to kill him for a reward.

I'm boring of the pointlessness of it, but the closing chapters promise that something is going one here, so I'll try another sometime.

FOR REFERENCE:

Contents: Bone 7. Marutech Kaimono Kikou -- Bone 8. Bathroom Conference of Little Shits --Bone 9. The Failson Show -- Bone 10. Treepod Adventure -- Bone 11. Meat Meet -- Bone 12. Bloody Blossom Boy -- Bonus Bone: It's so exciting to start a new life in your new home with new furniture.

Ahhh finally mushrooms again!

It's settled, hayashida is my favorite mangaka.
I just love her artstyle, her Humor, the grimdark, the characters, everything is on point and never too much.
On top comes that you can't find anything about her persona, even her wikipedia photo is fake.
This all fits so well in her art!

The sustained insanity is impressive, and this is all great fun of course. But I have to ask how much more of this I really need.

the goodly-ness continues

Disappointed in myself for sleeping on Q Hayashida’s works for so long. I love what I’ve read so far; they are so unpredictable and unique. It really feels like she’s creating her comics purely for the fun of it and to adventure along w her characters. I’m so curious to know how she does it and more about her.

Vol. 1 ★★★☆☆

More space shenanigans! The story doesn't move forward much, but I do love that cooking sequence. At first, you think you're back on familiar terrain; instead, it just gets more and more bizarre.

August 2023. I posted some photos of this manga recently! Cursed teen in some sort of space mad max necromancy universe with a robot skeleton friend. Gory and silly and an absolute blast!

I borrowed it from the library, after seeing the cover and being intrigued, when I was perusing for mystery manga series last weekend (I have a few on hold that aren’t in yet from other libraries). I could tell it wasn’t mystery but I flipped to a page near the start, saw the skeleton “Say okie dokie,” with a big happy smile and was immediately sold on getting both volumes.

I was absolutely cracking up reading this and requested volumes 3-4. It’s very silly and often gory and messy. Our teen lead is some sort of dark being and there’s a rumor that if you kill him and take his bones they will grant any wish, so he’s constantly on the run with randos out to get him and demand to have his bones.

He has a robot skeleton friend caretaker and he befriends death at one point. It’s absurd and a fun romp while being full of some horrifying moments and visuals. I suspect this one would’ve been too gory for me in anime with color and sound effects, but with black and white panels it avoids being too much.

Cannot recommend highly enough for people who think that sounds fun and not too disgusting to check out. An absolute treat. My first series by the author and definitely interested in checking out their other stuff.

Fun!

One could say there's not much of a big plot going on, beyond the fact that big corporation, Photoleon, is set into their intent to kill the so called "Four Little Shits"; but the little adventures of these characters, including a shopping trip to Space Ikea, are greatly entertaining, and a smart way to go about character building.

Looking forward to getting to know more about Hajime Damemaru, an enjoy all the fun banter.

This is a ton of fun, great characters, imaginative setting, and fantastically grim art. There's lots to love, but the story isn't much yet. Kinda just dark comedy shenanigans. I smiled and laughed a lot. I think the premise is great and could be a really engaging story. Right now though we're kinda just bouncing between settings and non threatening enemies.

Dai Dark 2 is a very well written sequel that continues to make me laugh through the gore and violence. We finally get to see the main character, Zaha Sanko, with his friends through a whole book alongside some flashbacks. I realy enjoyed the flashback of how he met Death and why they are still friends. My favorite quote was, "After I graduate, I'll collect their bones first!" This made me laugh out loud because it shows how Zaha just does what he wants and how he is insane. It is super funny how lovable a mass murderer is.

Hahaha, I love it. The humor is so dry and everyone is just so used to death that no one is even slightly bothered by the gruesome things happening around them.

Zaha Sanko is just the damned cutest. He's been hunted for his bones his whole life, he know he could die any day so he lives life to the fullest without regrets.

Since their new ship feels a little empty, Sanko and Avakian decide to go to Marutech, a big box store chain that floats throughout space. They have everything you could ever dream of, but since their stores are unmanned, each store is rigged to explode if a customer stays in for more than twelve hours to deter space pirates. During their shopping spree, Sanko learns that flesh-bots work at Marutech to carry all your stuff. Just as they're checking out, something is still bugging Sanko about those flesh-bots. Sanko wants to use the remaining four hours that they have left in Marutech to track down the flesh-bots and take their bones, which is when Shimada appears and tells Sanko that he can help find them. Side note, apparently Shimada and Avakian have a tumultuous relationship. Shimada can only make living beings invisible, everyone heads to the bathroom and Avakian takes Sanko's dark flesh in order to trick the security measures. Avakian is worried, though, about Sanko going into what Shimada describes as hell completely unarmed and we learn that if Sanko dies, so does Avakian. Shimada and Sanko make it to the flesh-bot hell and Shimada tells Sanko that he knows so much because these flesh-bots are still alive and suffering at the hands of Marutech, instead of using the dead bodies of criminals like Sanko initially thought. Apparently, these flesh-bots were the creation of the Photosfere, the same people that are after Shimada, Sanko, and Avakian. Sanko starts putting these poor flesh-bots out of their misery and Shimada starts eating. Sanko rounds up all the bones and tells Shimada that it's time for him to leave, but Shimada tells him that he intends to dine until the last minute, which freaks Sanko out. Sanko can't get out of this maze of a store by himself and he only has fourteen minutes until the ship explodes! He starts to break down the walls to get back to his ship, but this is seen as an attack by the store and the countdown starts early. Sanko gets out with just a second to spare and Moja tells him that he he was just going to blow up Marutech, then they shouldn't have paid! We meet a mysterious man near death, with multiple gunshot wounds and ruptured organs, and he goes to a small doctor's office, but in order to get treatment, he has to use his real name. This man is Hajime Damemaru, the fourth member of the Four Little Shits that Photosfere is after. When he finally talks to the doctor and reveals the extent of his injuries, the doctor gives him something called a Photonic Tonic that supposedly cures all ailments. Just as he takes the medicine, he realizes that the doctor is nervous. After he leaves, Photosfere soldiers ambush him and reveal that the Photonic Tonic is actually a bomb and Hajime explodes. Meanwhile on the Moja, Sanko makes meapswiches, which are meatball spaghetti sandwiches. Once again, we go back six years to Treegun Elementary where Sanko is getting beat up by some bullies. They break his gift for Shimada and leave him, but when he gets back up, Sanko tells Avakian that it was just like they were petting him. That night a junk ship passes the Treegun, which sends all the kids into a tizzy. Everyone wants to explore it, but it's too dangerous for them. That doesn't bother Sanko, though. He wants to see if there are any bones on there that he can collect. The bullies start to bully him again, but Shimada appears and beats up the kids. Apparently, he's posing as a student and he gives Sanko a skull he found on the junker ship. Suddenly, a group of space pirates gas the ship, causing everyone to pass out, besides Sanko, Shimada and Avakian. Sanko massacres the space pirates. Apparently, Shimada messed with the Treegun's security measures to get the space pirates on here, so he could have a fresh meal, but Sanko only cares that he got some new bones. In the present, Sanko and friends return to the Darknest at Moja's request. Sanko goes to buy a new Dark Hide and Misetani gives him a bell that will summon her whenever he wants to buy something. He chooses the bell, which Avakian protests. The ship's not ready yet, so Shimada takes Sanko to explore a nearby ship that smells of death. It's a Photosfere ship and Shimada's sense of smell leads them to a room containing the remainder of Hajime and he's still kicking. Sanko thinks his bones will sell for a lot, so he goes to unhook Hajime and gets possessed by him. This alerts the ship's crew and Sanko rips Avakian from his back and attacks the soldiers head on. He gets pretty beat up along the way, but he's able to kill most of the soldiers with his bare hands. Avakian tries to reason with him, but it's no use. Sanko is ravaged. Apparently, the Photosfere were injecting Hajime with a poison to stop him from coming back to life, so when Sanko ripped it away, it allowed Hajime to take over his mind. Shimada kills Hajime and Sanko is brought back to normal, but with him injured and a back-up squad on it's way, what will happen to Sanko and Avakian?
