Shock Force One #1

SEALed With a Kiss

Shy librarian Beth Landon is a small-town girl who never quite fit in. After the death of the mother she cared for, she decides to take a chance and move across the country to San Diego to be closer to the last family she has left. Easygoing Zack Ross makes no bones about loving his life as a SEAL. As far as he’s concerned, women are fun in small doses, but too much of a distraction from the serious business of serving his country to consider for anything long-term. Until he meets a woman who has no idea just how tempting she is.Beth knows Zack will break her heart, and likely sooner rather than later. There’s no way a sexy serviceman like him could be seriously interested in someone who has never turned any heads. Still, she might as well make some sweet memories and enjoy his attention—while it lasts. For the first time in his life, Zack wants more. Can he convince a woman who is wary of taking chances that their love is worth any risk?

SEALED with a Kiss; Special Forces, Operation Alpha: Shock Force One, Book 1 is by Rachel McNeely.
Beth Landon is a librarian who is shy and sweet; but beautiful. When her Mother dies, she moves to California to be near her closest relative, her sister Claudia. Here she meets Zack Ross, a Navy SEAL who had been orphaned earlier in life and had no idea who his family was. He had been adopted as a child and had wonderful parents. Thus, when a lawyer called to tell him his Grandfather wanted to get to know him after being the one to chase them apart, he turned him down. He had no interest in a family that hadnt’t wanted him earlier. Now, Zack didn’t need them nor their money.
He went to the library where he caught Beth as she almost fell off a ladder. After talking a bit they each went their own way. Later, when his sister calls and looks up Beth’s information, he becomes intrigued with her.
Will Beth and Zack make a go of their relationship until she tries to get him to go meet his grandfather as she knows what it is like to have no family around at all. What will happen to them?

Zack is a Seal and has vowed to being a bachelor. That is until he meets Beth. Beth has left her small town to come to San Diego to live with her sister.
Beth works in the library and she meets Zack when she falls off the ladder and he catches her.
Zack was adopted and he loves his parents. He has just learned his biological grandfather wants to meet him. He asks Beth to go with him.
Zack has made some mistakes already with his mouth and is hoping this trip will prove to Beth how he really feels. He screws up big time and she leaves.
After convincing Beth's sister to tell him where she is, he goes to her. He comes up on something very unexpected. After this is taken care of, will she accept him back?

Zack is a SEAL who has fixed ideas about women and relationships. He never looks for anything serious while he's on active duty. When he sees a pretty woman stuck at the top of her library ladder, he helps her and flirts a little. Beth is very shy and doesn't think he could really be interested in her so she laughs about it. When her sister takes her to Aces Bar and Grill she is surprised to see Zack there and they begin a flirtation with both unsure about any future. Zack has some other issues on his mind, and so does Beth, but the romance isn't very convincing. The dialogue is also not well done so a star is deducted for that.

I am so dumb. I should've checked to see if I had read any of the writer's other stories before I started this. I am still very firmly of the opinion that the writing doesn't flow. The language is awkward. It comes across as something that a very sheltered teenager might write having read several dozen Mills & Boon romances. I said before that it felt that the words had been translated from another language. Still the case for me. Clunky is the word I used before...

And as for the story itself? Nope.

And the tie-in to Susan Stoker's 'verse? Tenuous.

Jumbled

This story had pretty juvenile language and a jumbled up, unbelievable storyline. It was all over the place and made little sense. No guy, military or not, would say the things or act the way that these guys did. I felt zero connection to any character in the story, including the main characters. There was little to no connection felt between them as well. I only finished it out of sheer stubbornness and the inability to give up. I probably should have, several times over.

Beth is shy and she has a sister who likes to order her around and Zach is a Navy Seal who was adopted. They are an unlikely pair But they compliment each other. There's plenty of heat, misunderstandings and secrets unvailed. No danger in this book and you only hear about Wolf and caroline at the end of the book. HEA

Good read

Beth met Zack on her first day at the library. She started to fall and Zack caught her before she landed on the floor. She thought he was the most handsome man she had ever seen. Later that evening she met him again and when he asked for her phone number she gave it to him.

Sealed with a kiss

I was disappointed with this book because I enjoy the genre but felt it lacked depth and true feeling. At times the story was a bit disjointed and the characters were very two dimensional. It’s as if the author’s heart wasn’t in it. There were lots of loose ends with the story tangents so it didn’t come together as a whole. Forgive me for a tough critique!

Nice story but somewhat far fetched

It was nice story but written in a way which made the cheers unlikeable and unrelatable; the story was also very jumbled, too much seemed to happen, all very unlinked.

Great quick read

Loved this book. Quick and to the point. Glad all worked out for the sisters. Family does not always have to be by blood. Can not wait to read the next book. As always keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.

DNF

It felt like I was reading instructions to put furniture together. I know it’s a short story but more information on her relationship with her mother and sister would’ve been helpful too. DNF

Lacks warmth

Usually enjoy SS world books, not this one. No depth or warmth to the characters or the “romance”. No real story or plot, mum story came out of nowhere and finished pretty much the same way. Won’t be bothering with the rest of this series.

A lovely love story

To short. I mean on content. Beth and Zack fell fast in love, a wonderful thing occurs only once in awhile. Story has real love on display, but doesn't know it yet. As you write more books , add more content. Works matter

Disappointed!

As part of Susan Stoker's World I found this book disappointing, the dialogue is lacking and unbelievable, the romance stilted and stiff and Zack and his SEAL team are arrogant, offensive and chauvinistic- as opposite of Wolf and Susan's SEAL's as you can get....there is a difference between confidence and arrogance.
There were also huge holes in the story and multiple contractions, for example 'it's early morning.... ...if we need to speed up we'll do it later this afternoon when it starts to cool' later in the same paragraph they are then' 'resting through the heat of the afternoon' everyone knows an afternoon is hotter than a morning, it makes no sense. Nor does 'They stopped to rest and eat at noon, we'll wait here until 0100' Really! If you are going to use military terms get them right! 0100 is 1am, the sentence above is referring to 1pm not 1am (I am presuming as the meeting was late afternoon, pretty sure they are not resting for 13 hours!) so should have been 1300 not 0100.
Very frustrating and disappointing. I read this on Kindle Unlimited, if I had bought it the review would have had less stars!
