Two separate, distinct, true crime stories featured on the Investigation Discovery Channel. Written in the classic Patterson short chapter, fast paced style, they're a quick read. I can't help thinking what a waste of life choices by the perpetrators. They do teach something though. Protect yourself at all times. ...more

Till Murder Do Us Part
Imagine kissing your husband goodbye as he leaves for work, only to never see him again. Hours later, detectives show up with questions. His car was found with a bullet hole in the door and animal blood smeared on the seat. In his desk drawer, there is a book detailing how to fake your death......

Eric, now Steve begins a new life in Colorado.

Steve is new to the area, living in a hotel, has no family, and is on the run from the CIA. At least that's what he told Kathi whe

I've really been enjoying these novelized true crime books from James Patterson; which feature two cases per volume. This one includes "Til Murder Do Us Part," a truly fascinating story, and "Ramp Up to Murder," a truly disturbing one. ...more

Double Life! Double Wife! Double the Fun!
Imagine if you will your husband leaves for work, never arrives, a car full of blood and bullet holes, using an alias name.
Talk about a lot to unpack in one day.
As this story heats up we uncover an entire facade that goes back to high school days in which everyone knew him by Eric Wright not Steve the mysterious con who was on the run breaking hearts and telling bs stories to any gullible lady who'd believe his sob stories.
At least he got half the story c

Another true crime collection, really enjoyed this one although in the first story I was surprised she didn't see through the lies fairly quickly and never really pushed the issue of not knowing his past/backstory before marrying him this is why you ask questions.

As for the second story I felt so sorry for Brandi she did everything right and left him the moment things turned physical and super weird but then he went full psycho.
The last page was what really got me was how can someone who did th

I wasn't expecting too much with this book and I wasn't disappointed. The book was a gift so thought I would give it a go. Two stories, both written with co-writers. Both a fair read but nothing out-standing. True crime or not the stories were not terribly gripping or even remotely shocking, but easy enough to read and filled in a few hours of down time. Probably a good Young Adult read. ...more

Two very easy to read short stories. I like that they are based on true stories. The first one appeals more to the type of books I like them the second story but I think it’s beneficial that they are each a bit different. Patterson never fails to tell a good story.

A collection of two James Patterson "True Crime" novellas...The first, involving a Colorado woman who's duped into marriage with someone who is living a double life having abandoned his family in California, and the second dealing with a young Arizona woman's tragic relationship with a professional skateboarder...Decent Patterson "True Crime!" ...more

Two short novellas from James Patterson. In the first story, we get to know Kathi Spiars, a woman who falls in love with a man who claims he has no past. He lost his parents in a fire and he used to be in the CIA and killed someone but needed to leave that life. As time goes on, Kathi sees a different side to him that is crueler, and starker than the man she thought she married. He tells her enough about his past life that she is able to find out who he really was (he left a family behind and ma ...more

Excellent book!!! These two stories remind me so much of some of the first James Patterson books I read. This book will have you devouring it and before you know it you're reaching the end. You never know what goes on behind closed doors in people's lives. People are not always as they seem and having money, luxury, and fame is not everything. Both stories will satisfy the need you may have for intrigue, gripping suspense, true crime, and bad boy romance. It will leave your heart aching for the ...more

Every man will experience the highs and lows in life along with love and hatred. Gabe was star struck by himself and felt entitled to remain on top forever...but life gets in the way. His love life was more about his position of control and the picture of perfection than any real feelings of love. The same scenario was true when he turned his love to Jesus...all about his image. He was saved but didn’t give This book was very good. As all James Patterson's books. I love them all. Some I have rea ...more

Two true-crime stories. “Till Murder Do Us Part” by JP and Andrew Bourelle is about a man who changes his identity to start a new life. His new wife believes his lies until she finds proof of his lies. The man was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, served a minimum sentence, and was paroled. He supposedly died of a heart attack but the body was cremated and the DA is skeptical. Maybe a new identity. “Ramp Up to Murder” by JP and Max DiLallo is about a champion skateboarder who had a dark ...more

This true crime story starts out at the Governor Edmund G. Brown California Aqueduct, in San Joaquin County, California. (Although the story says that east of here is the San Francisco Bay Area, it is actually to the west. )

In 1980, a young mother reports her missing husband. After their investigation, the police theorize that he disappeared and is trying a new identity.

Fishermen find a submerged chained body.

A waitress is Colorado meets the love of her life, who says he is a former hit man for

As she investigates her suspicions, she becomes more and more convinced he is more evil than she suspected and learning more will have her looking over her shoulder for the rest of her life. I received this book as in a giveaway on Goodreads. I am posting this review of by choice. I am a long time James Patterson fan. I a however not a serious fan of reading non fiction. That being said this was a wonderful book that I read in a little over 24 hours. It was engaging and moved at a pace that made it a page turner, which mirrors his fiction style. I was especially impressed with the inclusion of two novels in one book. When I indulge in streaming television it is generally documentari ...more

This is the sixth book in the Discovery’s Murder is Forever series. This book consists of two short stories. The first is the true story of Kathi. A woman who thinks she has finally found her true love even if he does have some quirks. He says he was in the military, worked for the CIA, is a wanted man. Is he all he claims? In the second novel, Gator, an up and coming skate boarder who is hanging out with Tony Hawk falls in love. They are the hit of the scene until he has accident that changes h ...more

Wow! I don't want to experience anything any of the women did in these two stories. But in Till Murder Do Us Part Kathi had a strength about her that couldn't be denied. And Brandi in Ramp Up To Murder knew when to get out and saved her life. She should be proud of herself for seeing the signs and being strong enough to leave when she did. Both stories were about relationships gone wrong and its up to each of us to decide the right or wrong moves to make when the time comes. Hopefully the right ...more

Disturbing books on murder and relationships from Patterson in this round. This is a two for one book where there are two shorter stories in the book that reflect the same relationship murder scheme. First is about a husband who is not really who she thought he was. The second is a boyfriend who is successful and driven by a car crash to find his religion although he still has evil thoughts to the girlfriend until the worst happens. Quick read.

I still believe Patterson lends his name to these projects too cheaply, but I do appreciate that the stories are being told. This slim work contains two crime stories that go back years, and both eventually ended in the perpetrators being caught and convicted. I almost suppose that if Patterson did not lend his name to them they would disappear into history without mention other than showing up in a "Google" search connected to a local newspaper article or court document. ...more

Believe it or not this book was amongst some I got given for Mothers day this year. I usually listen to true crime podcasts, I don't tend to read books about real life crimes but thought this was a good read. I've read some of Patterson's fictional work so I liked that his fast paced chapter style continued in this book. It made for a quick read once I got settled into it. Overall a ⭐⭐⭐.5 for me as I think I prefer my true crime in podcast form. ...more

A quick read and based on 2 real life crimes. I didn't focus on chapter lengths or writing style, because I was really so intrigued by the crimes. I'm on a bit of a true crime binge at the moment, so this book came a good time. I usually watch documentaries, so I was keen to see what the reading experience would be like.

The second crime really shocked me. What a waste....why are women constantly subjected to such horrific crimes :(

This book covers two true crime cases and is written in such a way it feels like the story is playing out right in front of you. It captures the most human elements of the cases with emotions no longer being secondary to the facts. I blazed through the book in a couple of nights. This is part of James Patterson true crime series. I didn't realize before I started that's what it was. I haven't always liked his true crime series, but these 2 stories were better than the other one I read.
Kathy, married for 12 years, stumbles on some evidence her husband isn't who she thinks.
And pro- skater, Gators, fall into bi-polar murder.

There are two true stories that are described by Patterson and his co-authors. My wife watches the ID channel so I think that is how I decided to read these books. Sometimes true stories are harder to believe than fiction. Quick and easy reads and of course free from the local public library and the curbside pickup

I enjoyed this one. I didn't realize the book was 2 stories and would change half way through, so that was a nice surprise as well.

I was familiar with both stories from several True Crime podcasts I listen to, but this was still a unique enough blend of information that it kept me interested.

Feels good to be back in my standard genre after so much experimentation.
