Their dark secret could destroy her family

When Abbie Rambally meets the couple next door for the first time, she’s convinced something isn’t right. Why are the Paynes so fascinated with her oldest son and why do they ask so many probing questions about him? Then Abbie’s loyal and dependable nanny quits without giving notice, and Jenna Payne is only too happy to step in and help out. But Abbie begins to suspect that the Paynes' choice of neighborhood was no accident.
Though Abbie wants to believe she can trust her neighbors, too many things about the couple don’t add up. So when a stranger in a café calls Jenna by a different name and insists they've met before, one thing becomes clear. If Abbie doesn’t uncover what the Paynes are hiding, her family will be in terrible danger.
From an award-winning author comes the latest installment in the "gripping and powerful" Fearless Series. This nail-biting psychological thriller can be read as a stand-alone, and will leave you breathless until the final, jaw-dropping twist.

The well to-do couple Abby Rambally and her husband Ty are the proud parents of a ten year old boy and also 9 year old twins. Abby has been working on getting her doctorate for years and Ty is a thoracic surgeon whose medical skills are in great demand so they have a full time nanny (Olivia) who has taken care of the children for several years and is loved by the whole family. New neighbors have moved in across the street and the wife seems to have an unusual curiosity about Abby's oldest child. Why the special interest? From the first time Abby meets the couple she feels an immediate dislike for the wife (Jenna), she appears overly friendly and asks way too many questions and some of the questions are rude and intrusive for a complete stranger to ask. So Abby's instincts are raising a lot of red flags but she needs to know more about the people because she has many, many secrets of her own and she will do anything and everything to keep her and her family's secrets safe.
Who are these people? Just nosy new neighbors? Why is Abby so defensive about her past life? Soon after there will be a murder involving a loved one. Is there a connection to the neighbors or will it be connected to Abby's past history? All these questions and so much more will be answered but you will have to start reading this book.

This book was the third in a series and was a well-written and a very fast paced story. I found it interesting and entertaining but it was too implausible and far fetched for me. To be fair, it could have been because I should have read the first two books first to get more background on Abby even though this was a stand-alone story. I really enjoyed the children's characters. They were smart, saavy, fun and just adorable. The nanny, Olivia was a wonderful character as well but I didn't care for Abby's character. I found her selfish, annoying, whiney, arrogant, argumentative, condescending, unappreciative and I could keep going on and for someone who had everything good in her life she seemed to have endless complaints (imo). It just boils down to a matter of reading taste, because this just left me tasting sour notes instead of sweet ones. Keep in mind that these are my personal opinions because I noticed that I am in the minority and there are so many readers who loved this book and have given five stars.

I want to thank the publisher "Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op" and Netgalley for allowing the opportunity to read this story and any thoughts and opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!

It’s hard to pin down my reaction to this book. OK - what I liked - the main female character, Abbie Rambally, was smart, strong, kind, driven but had a traumatic moment in her past and now has a fierce determination to prevail. Her husband Ty is hot, smart, kind, loving and all the good things. They get set up by a pair of con artists who have different motivations but the same aim of kidnapping the Rambally’s eldest child, 10 year old Lucas.

What I didn’t love - I just thought it was all a bit black and white with little in the way of nuancing in the characters. The evil mastermind was SO bad and the nice family was SO good. This is nit picking but it kind of bothered me a little. Otherwise it was a cracking story. As Yoda says: “there is no try, just do” and the Ramballys do very well in fighting the evil that has entered their lives. It was certainly a page turner with an uncertain ending until the very end.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Winds of Fear, the third book in the Fearless series, continues the story of Abbie Cooper. This installment takes place ten years after the events of book two.

In this installment Abbie is a happily married and a mother of three beautiful children. She is preparing for her PhD, while her husband is a successful cardiothoracic surgeon, a job which kept him form home for long periods of time. However, thanks to their Nanny, Olivia, things were not as stressful. All appeared to be going well, until the Paynes moved in next door. Abbie’s instincts went on alert on meeting them. She sensed they couldn’t be trusted, especially with their unhealthy show on interest in her first-born son, Lucas. Then Olivia quits without notice, which sends up an immediate red flag. Will Abbie be able to find out what the Paynes are up to before it’s too late? Abbie can never seem to get a break. Someone was always trying to hurt her, and this time around her family was the target.

Winds of Fear took me on thrilling and emotional ride. The author weaved a suspenseful tale which kept me up reading into the wee hours. Knowing who wanted to hurt Abbie was easy to figure out, but what kept me flipping the pages was my need to learn of the perpetrators’ nefarious plans and the steps Abbie would take to save her family.

The story was well-paced with several twists. The most shocking of which took place near to the end. It is for this reason it’s best to read the previous book prior to reading Winds of Fear, that way one will appreciate the jaw dropping twist.

The secondary characters added depth and excitement to the story. Once again Abbie had the unwavering support of her friends and relatives. I loved Abbie’s children. I found them to be smart and resilient, just like their mom.

Although I enjoyed the story, I had an issue which concerned Olivia’s sudden departure. I can’t go into much details without giving away the story. What I will say though, based on what the author revealed near the end, the events leading up to her sudden departure appeared implausible given her actions earlier in the story.

It amazed me to discover that Abbie’s troubles were not over and that book 4 will release soon. I can’t wait to see what next is in store for her.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Winds of Fear is a great addition to the series. I recommend it to fans of suspense and thrillers.

I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, just that it had sounded like an interesting read as I do love my mysteries but haven't read anything by this author in the past. As I started it, I was immediately hooked by the strange woman in the park and then the book jumps to one year later where we meet the Rambally family Abbie, Ty, and their three children Lucas, Blake, and Alexis. We also meet their nanny Olivia/Liv. The parents are both Doctors in training so are busy but you can tell this family loves one another. Down the road from the Ramballys, a couple known as the Paynes have just moved in and seem a bit too odd for Abbie. Jenna brings back some horrible memories for Abbie as she starts asking questions about Lucas. We then learn a bit more about Abbie and Lucas's past and the plans that Jenna and Charlie Payne have up their sleeve. What follows next is an action-packed novel filled with murder, mystery, and secrets that unfold as the story goes along. Winds of Fear is a mystery that holds the readers’ attention as you want to discover what is going to happen next and eventually, you wish the best for the Rambally family, especially for Lucas as you can't help but fall in love with his sweet childlike nature. Even though this is Book #3 in the Fearless Series, it can be read as a stand-alone as the story was easy to pick up and follow. I am now looking forward to discovering and reading more reads by Glede Browne Kabongo. Winds of Fear, a good mystery/thriller to add to your reading lists as it doesn't disappoint.

This is one of the finest books that I have read this year. Read the blurb on Amazon, that tells you enough of the story to get pulled in. The book is so well written and the exposition is so well laid out, that little effort has to be spent in following the story of Abbie and the Paynes. There are plenty of twists and turns that can keep you guessing (I was surprised by some of the familial relationships that emerged, and, oh, the nannies!).

I could not put this book down. Even reading at a reasonable speed, I finished the book in two days. Glede Browne-Kabongo knows her craft and knows it well. I have rarely been so entertained this year.

Yes, I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review, but this is the real thing.

Quite an interesting read, I was captured by the premise of it. When new neighbors took an extra interest in the eldest son of Abby and Ty, it raised my heckles too. When the nanny quit and the neighbor took over, I was sure something creepy would happen. It did. A murder.

My first book by this author, certain sections were fantastical. The characters made their mark on me as there were too many secrets. I liked how the story came together at the end.
Overall a fun read.

Winds of Fear is the third thrilling instalment in the Fearless series by Gledè Browne Kabongo. This is my first read by Ms. Browne Kabongo, and so I was excited to see what she could do. The blurb certainly promised a thrilling and suspenseful read- so I was sold- happily one-clicking a copy for myself and diving in- and I am happy to say it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be.
Even though this is the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone, which is exactly what I did. Anyway, this story has made me want to explore the other two books to see what they hold. It looks like they may be about Abbie, our main character in this book- so I am intrigued by the ‘backstory’ that may be contained there.
This book is an intriguing, suspenseful, chilling, and ‘edge of your seat’ thriller. It grabbed me from the get-go and had me avidly reading to discover just how everything would play out.
We follow Abbie Rambally who is working on getting her PhD. With her husband and three young children, they have a busy, but loving household. When new neighbours move in, strange things begin happening and Abbie’s motherly instincts are triggered when the neighbour shows a little too much interest in her oldest child. Things take on a more sinister edge when their nanny quits out of the blue, and later found murdered. What is going on? With danger close at hand and suspicions all round- you’ll need to hang on for this thrilling ride.
I am definitely looking forward to exploring the rest of this series, and anything else Ms. Browne Kabongo has/or does release.

Thank you, Ms. Browne Kabongo!

A fantastically written psychological thriller that draws you in and takes you on a roller-coaster ride and doesn't let go until the end! Although this book is the 3rd in the series, you can still read it as a standalone, but you will want to read the first two as it is now the backstory, but are as well written as this one. We are drawn into Abby Rambally's family life with her 3 children, their protective nanny and her doctor husband while Abby is trying to get her Phd in Neuropsychology. When new neighbors live down the street and introduce themselves, Abby gets a little suspicious when the wife, Jenna Payne meets Abby's children and she shows unusual attention to Abby's oldest child. Things start going downhill when their nanny sends Abby a letter quitting out of the blue and then turns up murdered in the local park. In steps the neighbor to help Abby out and tells her about another young girl who was looking for a nanny job. The author shows the closeness of the family and the young children's intuitive instincts. This book takes you on a thrill ride with murder, kidnapping and secrets that could affect the Rambally's family. I will continue to follow this author and read more of her books as I absolutely love her style. I received and ARC from the author, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

This mystery had me on the edge of my seat. Abby believes her family is in danger from the new neighbors, but it is just a gut feeling. Or is it? The mysteries that surround the characters lead us up to the crime and then the suspense continues through the climax. I loved the writing and drawing out of the suspense that always revealed just enough so that I didn’t get too frustrated waiting for clues. This is the third book in the series but my first book from the series. It works as a stand alone. I found that not having read the first two books wasn’t a detriment. There were very few instances where having read the previous books may have helped my understanding. I enjoyed this book very much and recommend it for anyone who loves a good, suspenseful mystery. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

In this book, Abbie and Ty have been married for 10 years and have three children. Abbie is close to earning her doctorate degree and things are working out for the whole family. Then weird things start to happen. Once again Abbie's family is threatened. I love Abbie. Her character is strong and engaging. This is the third in the series and reading the others in the series is helpful to understanding the backstory. They wouldn't be necessary, but it is more enjoyable to have the history. The author has a gift for writing suspense with a lot of twists and turns. The book brings out all the emotions and has a satisfying ending. I received an advance copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a stunning story. Abbie and Ty are busy with their lives and children when evil enters the picture. Abbie has her suspicions and not acting on them leads to devastating consequences. The story is gripping as it unravels. It is an emotionally filled narrative that will draw you in and have you turn the pages. The author keeps the suspense heightened as each predator goes off to travel their own selfish path. The topics of child kidnapping and sexual assault is discussed in a realistic and intense dialogue. The characters are full bodied and gets the reader to be personally involved in the story. This is just an absolute great book.

I was a little intrigued from start to finish as there were plenty of little twists and turns. This being the third in a series I was able to follow along even without having read the first two and don’t feel like I was missing anything by starting here. But it does make me want to go back and read the first two now as I would love to see how the other characters came into play from the beginning. I’ll also be anxiously awaiting the next!

Great book, its the 3rd book in the series, but I just read this first, but I will go read the 2 first books.
Abbie Rambally has 3 beautiful children and a loving husband, but her world turns up side down when one of her children goes missing. Abbie is psychologically a mess. There are many twists to the story and you keep wondering who did it and who is playing with Abbie's and Ty's life.

Thank you Glede Browne kabongo for writting such a great book.

This is everything you could ask for in a thriller novel, suspense and mystery. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to see more from her. The twists and turns had me turning pages as well as sitting on the edge of my seat. How well do you know your neighbors? Abbie is about to find out but she doesn’t trust something about her nieghbors especailly when they just show up to help her out with her son. What could they be hiding? I highly recommend this must read story.

I have a thing about thrillers involving neighbors and false identities, so when I got the opportunity to read Winds of Fear by Glede Browne Kabongo, I jumped at the chance!

When Jenna and Charlie Payne move into the house next door, things start going bad for Abbie Rambally, especially after Jenna takes a special interest in Abbie's 10 year old son Lucas. Before long, Abbie starts suspecting that her neighbors aren't who they say they are and that their intentions could put her family in mortal danger.

The synopsis really sucked me in. I had to know what was up with Abbie's neighbors, so I dove into Winds of Fear right away. The pacing is fairly slow for the first half of the book as Kabongo sets up the backstory for each character. However, once I got to the second half of the novel, the pacing sped up, and I was hooked! I could not stop reading even though it was way past time for me to go to sleep. I felt like this was where the most action really happened and where the actually plot and the meat of the story was. Kabongo is heavily into describing each and every thing which was a bit tedious, but in the second half of the story, I was hooked on every word, so I didn't really mind. There were quite a few plot twists in Winds of Fear. In fact, every time I thought I had something figured out and felt smug about it, a plot twist would smack me right in the face! Though this book the third in the Fearless Series, I felt like it stands alone quite well without reading the first two books. Kabongo does a fantastic job of explaining what happened to Abbie (and her family) previously quite well. There is a fourth book that will be released in the series, but I found that all my questions were answered in Winds of Fear. However, I will be reading the next installment in the series because I want to know more about Abbie's life!

The characters in Winds of Fear were very fleshed out and well written thanks to all of Kabongo's backstory she added throughout the book. I enjoyed the character of Abbie although sometimes I felt like she was being a little too suspicious too early on after just meeting the Paynes...her paranoia just felt too rushed. However, Abbie was a very well written character besides that. I could feel how much she loved her kids, her husband, and her life. My heart went out to her when she was torn between her duties as a mother and advancing her career. I was beside myself when everything went down involving Lucas. Her pain and worry felt very realistic. I would have liked to see more of Ty, Abbie's husband. Ty came across as such a fantastic man. I couldn't help but love him myself after reading about him. His love for wife and children were obvious from the get-go. The Rambally children (Alexis, Blake, and Lucas) were all so smart and adorable. I just wanted to hug them all! I loved their close relationship and how they all wanted to help each other out. Blake and Lucas were fantastic with how inquisitive they were. I also loved Olivia (Liv). She seemed like such a sweet girl. I won't go into much more detail about her, but I was saddened that I didn't get to read more about her. Jenna and Charlie were also fantastic characters. I kept trying to figure out what they brought to the table and why they were so wrapped up with the Ramballys. Also, with the Iceman, I felt he really did live up to his nickname!

Trigger warnings for Winds of Fear include mentions of sexual assault (not graphic), drinking alcohol (although not to excess), violence, murder (not very graphic), kidnapping, and blackmail.

All in all, Winds of Fear is quite the psychological thriller. It's got relatable characters, an interesting plot, and it makes you try to guess just to be wrong. I would recommend Winds of Fear by Glede Browne Kabongo to those ages 18+ to those who love to be sucked into a good book!

Although this says it’s the third in the Fearless Series I haven’t read the first two, although I suspect Abbie is the recurring figure yet it works perfectly as a stand alone psychological thriller/domestic noir. A new family moves in next door and Abby immediately dislikes the questioning wife and her interest in her family. Abby seems very reticent about giving out even the tiniest innocuous info and as the story progresses we realize she is holding so many secrets to keep her family safe. Suddenly a murder hits close to home and everything spins out of control. Abbie needs to know if the murder is connected to her neighbors, the Payne’s, before Abbies own life is in danger. Fast read, good pacing, a couple of heart pounding twists and thoroughly enjoyable. Now I’m searching out the first two in the series. I received a review copy and am leaving this voluntary review.

First, I want to thank Glede Browne Kabongo and Xpresso Tours for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

WOW! Glede Browne Kabongo sure knows how to write an intense edge of your seat thriller in Winds of Fear! Her book is incredibly fast paced that will have you hooked instantly.

Kudos to the graphic designer who designed this book cover. The cover stood out and made me interested to see what the book was about.

Winds of Fear had a little bit of everything for everyone. It had missing persons, tragic death, stalkers, creepy neighbors, secrets revolving paternity, etc.

Right from the prologue Glede sweeps you in with a creepy storyline. It was intensely fast paced that kept you on your toes.

There were some great messages in this book like don’t talk to strangers.

The story goes from modern day to back in the past.

Abbie Rambally is married to Ty, a surgeon, and is a doctoral candidate getting ready to defend her thesis. They have 3 children and live in a good neighbourhood. New neighbours move in and come over the Abbie's house to introduce themselves - Jenna and Charlie Payne. Jenna seems to take an unusual interest in Abbie's eldest child Lucas which Abbie finds rather odd. Even more disturbing, Jenna asks all sorts of intrusive questions about Lucas's biological father as Lucas has lighter skin than his twin siblings. Although Abbie doesn't feel comfortable with Jenna, she is soon put in a position where Jenna has to help her out with the children as their nanny doesn't turn up for work.

This is a book in a series but stands alone. Kabongo writes well and hooks the reader from the beginning. We are quickly drawn into the story which becomes much more complex as it goes on. There is adequate character development for a story which relies so heavily on plot. Definitely a page turner and difficult to stop reading once you've started. Nicely written and well developed, with a satisfying conclusion.

This was my first book by this author and I immediately downloaded the others in the series when finishing it.
The story is Abby and Ty Rambally are happy with their three children until new neighbours appear. Is Abby right to be suspicious or is there nothing to worry about. I liked how the story unfolded and the chapters alternated between the viewpoints of Abby and the new neighbours.
It was an easy read but kept me enthralled. I read it now realising it was part of a series but don’t feel I missed any major story points having not read the previous. I do think reading the previous I will probably link more with points in this story.

This book had me on the edge of my seat from
The beginning. It held my attention and had me screaming at the book, “what’s that mean!” “What happened?!” I didn’t realize this was the third installment of the book. It was a roller coaster ride that left me breathless! It was the best thriller I’ve ever read and I’ve read a lot of books! Now I’ll go back and read the first two! I couldn’t put it down and read it in one day! I highly recommend this book.

I love a good gripping and suspenseful thriller novel, so when I saw Winds of Fear and the thriller experience is screamed with the cover I knew I had to find out what the book was all about for myself. I have never read Glede Browne Kabongo before Winds of Fear, so naturally I was unaware until I started this book that it was actually book three in a series, The Fearless Series. I did not struggle reading this book or have issues with it as a stand alone read but, having read this one and enjoying it as much as I did, I am anxious to discover what those other two books hold as well. I am definitely going to check out all that Ms. Kabongo has penned as well.

This book was a crazy thrilling and mysterious read. I loved how I was constantly on the edge of my seat and waiting for that next spin in the plot. This book kept me guessing longer than most thrillers and had a few surprise twists that I never saw coming. That's something I love in a good thriller as I tend to get them figured out fairly early on and it ruins the suspense build up for myself. This was so not the case with Winds of Fear.

Abbie Rambally is the main character, and we follow her as she is juggling her life precariously. She is busy raising youngins while also working hard to get her PhD. Everything seems to be mischief managed until a new set of neighbors move in and in turn turns Abbie’s world upside down. She is forced to listen to that inner mom voice and fight to keep her family safe. Things get crazier when the families nanny shows up dead and the neighbor has a hankering for her oldest child. As you can imagine just from these tidbits this book builds the suspense and takes you on a thrilling ride. As for more details you will have to devour this gem for yourself to get them. I can’t wait to see what will come next and read the other books which I am off to do right now… one-click syndrome lol.

In this suspenseful, scary yet terribly entertaining psychological thriller, you’re thrust into the world of Abbie, a driven, determined, strong-willed, dedicated mother, and wife. She’s dedicated a good chunk of her life to making the best life for her family. One that includes furthering her education, a goal she’s held strong with for a long time. Now, with things on a good track she feels like she can breathe again. But all does not stay on that track when her past threatens to overtake her current reality and her future. It started out with small things like new neighbors, questions being thrown out to them, moments of unease as well as incidents that shake the foundation they’ve built. Then it all hits the fan and suddenly Abbie is fighting for the one thing she holds closest to her heart, her family.

An unexpected threat is trying to tear her world apart. The question is, can she defeat it and get her life back? For a woman who has survived the unthinkable, this is the biggest crisis of her life.

This book was so amazing! There were so many times that I racked my brain, questioning everything and everyone as I read. I’ve become a suspicious reader that makes me think about things on a whole other level with each story I read. For me, this was an exceptional winner! I was thrown around with each twist, various POV’s and the sheer determination of Abbie. It has been quite some time since I’ve read a thriller that was able to grab me from the beginning and hold my attention. With this book, not only was my attention caught but held steady! I found myself reading half the book in one sitting, not wanting to miss a thing! I loved every bit of this book. Even though it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading the other books leading up to this one for more history on the characters and their stories. I will be going back to read them myself very soon.

Winds of Fear (Fearless Series Book 3)
By: Gledé Browne Kabongo
5 out of 5 stars

The story Winds of Fear (Fearless Series Book 3) by Gledé Browne Kabongo is a mystery/psychological book. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The book will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. When reading I found myself so engulfed in the plot and the characters that I felt like I was right there with them. I enjoyed reading about Abbie. She is an intelligent woman who is a mother and a great cook. When she first meets the neighbors next door she can’t help but feel that something is not right. When other situations occur that feeling becomes stronger. Is Abbie right about her new neighbors? Are they not who they say they are? Is her family in danger? Read this book to find out. The story brings out the emotions in the characters and mine went up and down with theirs. There are heartbreaking and heartwarming moments in this book. Don’t miss out on a thrilling ride that you will not be able to put down until the final page. I highly recommend it.

Winds of Fear was a thrilling and suspenseful 5 star read and book three in the Fearless Series.
I was pulled in right from the beginning.

Abbie is a busy mom who is working to get her PhD. She gets an opportunity to meet her new neighbors Jenna and Charlie when they stop by for a quick hello. Jenna shows a little too much interest in Lucas, Abbie’s oldest son. Which causes Abbie to get uneasy feelings.

When her kids nanny ends up quitting and is found dead, Jenna offers to take care of the kids until Abbie can find a new nanny. Things start to get even weirder and even the kids are starting to sense that some things are not right.

Overall this was a great read that kept me on the edge of my seat. There are several twists and turns, we get murder, mystery, suspense and so much more. This is my first read from this author and she pulled me right in with her writing. This book can be read as a stand alone, however I wouldn’t mind reading the first two books so I can connect better with the series. 1-click and get started today.
