Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

Since I'm writing this over a month since I first read this book, I really don't remember it. I do recall that I liked it slightly better than the last. Wait . . . It's coming back to me . . . oh, yeah, this was the book where Brummell investigates an attempted murder of the Prince of Wales. And along the way gets involved in some underhand cult. It doesn't make that much sense. However, Rosemary Stevens held things kinda together. She is still using that cat plot device thing, and I don't like ...more

Delightful, tasteful and fun

Beau Brummell extends himself beyond his usual field of expertise to solve the mystery of poisoned snuff presented to Prinney. The case is more complicated than it first appears and there are several clever twists. What I like is the excellent attention to historical details, personalities, Recency behavior and values. Brummell is a most delightful dandy and a very loveable character. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. By the way this is Book #2,
Beau Brummell solves another crime this time the attempted poisoning of the Prince himself. Takes up right after the events of the first book as the Beau arrives in Brighton were Prinny fled after getting death threats. Beau's friends and himself are caught in the investigation as suspects and he and the darned cat are on the case. The cat is less annoying this time but equally key in murder solving. Will keep reading because they are cute and murder plots are nice motives if not totally in solv ...more

Like these books. The fashion restrictions of the time add interest as does the character of Beau Brummel.

Really slow start, but then picked up. Cat solving crimes and faster than the humans at that is ridiculous. Humorous characters and backgrounds, but gets old after a while.

This book is a murder mystery set in Regency England. It's a very amusing look at society and the customs of those times.
