When they meet their mysterious neighbor, Mrs. Kantor, after school to hear her tell a ghost story, she will hurtle them through a dreamscape of unpredictable trials that will test their friendship and courage.
Soon, they will use their magic against an evil wizard, Malik, to stop him from destroying their town and the world.
To defeat Malik, will the girls have what it takes? Will they stop Malik before he destroys everything they know?
The acknowledgements in this book explain everything that went and stayed wrong with this book. Uneven tone and disjointed/scattered storytelling are very present throughout the book. When the author mentioned in her acknowledgements that it started as a series of short stories, why everything felt so wrong while reading started to make sense. This probably would have been a much better book if the author hadn’t second-guessed herself and tried connecting the stories into a novel as a result of that uncertainty. Don’t get me wrong. The story is cohesive enough to understand but the struggle the author had connecting these stories was obvious while reading. The writing itself isn’t bad but I can’t recommend it.
