Interesting but outdated. Includes prophecies such as that of the "white horse" that have been debunked by prophets. Overall, I did not feel the Spirit throughout most of this book which leads me to question its validity.

In Prophecy: Key to the Future, Crowther's goals are to:

1. Establish some sense of chronological order to future events;
2. Offer an understandable and well-documented discussion of events prophets and apostles have prophesied will occur.
3. Provide insight through previously inaccessible materials into such issues as internal conflict in the U.S., the times of the Gentiles, and plagues and pestilences to come.

The book is based on work done for the author's Master's thesis, and is limited to scripture and interpretive comments made by general authorities of the LDS Church. I found it interesting and insightful, but frankly I preferred the similar text, The Coming of the Lord, by Gerald Lund.

One of the first books on the last days I read in my youth, I still refer to it often in looking up some quote or scripture on the subject. It has been criticized as being too rigid in the placement of events. The criticism may be valid. Who can really know the exact order of the signs of the last days. The book is worth studying and adding to your library if you have any interest in the last days. I often read it along with Gerald Lund's book, The Coming of the Lord.

Very good book as far as thoroughly analyzing prophecies concerning events leading up to the second coming. There are a couple portions of the book where I feel the author departs from prophecies to insert too much of his own assumptions.

This book was first published in 1962 - 60 years ago! As such, there are certainly many obsolescent observations, particularly in the beginning chapters. Also, the author relies on a lot of journal entries written many years after the purported fact. I'm not saying that these journal entries are without value. It is fascinating to read about just how much the early church leaders thought about and spoke about the end days - I'm talking about you, Orson Pratt. What I am saying is that the author should place these statements in the proper context- they are not as reliable as scripture. That said, this is an outstanding consolidation of scripture describing future events (especially the closing chapters).

PS. I found a $4.00 used copy (already the 12th printing in 1966!) at Weller Books and could not resist.

It’s a dry read but extremely informative. This is now the sixth book I’ve read on the subject and this one provided a valuable perspective that I didn’t get from the other five. This book focused in a lot more on modern day prophets whereas the other books I read focused more on ancient scripture.

I read it as a teen and revisited this book in my forties. It is dated. Some myth mixed in. Sometimes, I just think no one should venture a guess at future events, even based on scriptures or statements made by prophets. I understand his speculation from a scholarly approach but the continued enlightenment we have received since the book was written begs for a rewrite.

The author obviously did a lot of research, both in the scriptures and in the writings of general authorities. The book told me more than I wanted to know about the future leading up to the Millennium. It sounded rather frightening. Happily, if we survive the terrible times, we can look forward to the Millennium with its peace and righteousness.

This is a collection of prophetic scriptures and quotes by Mormon leaders on latter-day signs of the times. Very interesting. There are some quotes in here that I haven't seen elsewhere. The author attempts to put them in chronological order.

This is a very interesting book. The author quotes many general authorities, scriptures, and history to back-up these prophecies and the interpretation of them. This is not a fast or easy read. It takes time and pondering. It would be one that needs to be read more than once.

Interesting LDS book on the Last Days and the prophecies. I must have read a much earlier edition.
