I'm trying to make it a goal to read some work from the people in my anthologies. Since Kayla is in The Depths We'll Go To, I decided to give Metamorphosis a go. I'm glad I did. This is a very sweet, real look at faith and Christianity. I thought that the poetry, while all over the place in form, was pulled together by the theme. Probably not for people who criticize poetry harshly, since it is very free with its expression, but I have always liked that kind of poetry better anyways.

I'm so glad I finally read this collection of poetry. It's clearly a very personal collection to Kayla, and I'm so happy that she was able to share her faith with the world. My favourite poems were Overcomer and You Rescue Me. There was a strong, beautiful theme that ran through this collection and I am looking forward to reading more from Kayla E. Green.

I love how the author points us to God with a verse at the start of each poem. Then she takes us through very raw emotions. I think this compilation of poems will help others working through despair and it will give them hope. Highly recommended.

This is a heartfelt, and vulnerable, collection of poetry. Green shares her struggles, as well as her faith. Each poem points the reader to God, and this book could help those struggling to find hope as they battle their own daily struggles.

The poems are written in a variety of forms, which may appeal to some readers but not others. Each poem also focuses on a Scripture verse. Overall, this book is a reminder that God loves you and is there for you through the good and bad days.

I have felt the weight of crashing waves as I struggled to keep treading water. Though we all are unique people with our own experiences, we are all drowning on our own; yet, we don't have to succumb to the ever rising tide. We each have been offered life-saving renewal and healing through Christ's salvation, and it is this saving and transformative grace that is the cornerstone of this collection.

Metamorphosis was written through my own personal journey as writing helps me through much of my processing, especially with both my emotions and my emotional responses. I have a passion for erasing stigma surrounding mental health as I have struggled with depression and anxiety much of my life. I hope that anyone who can relate to having mental health struggles will see the light God offers to illuminate the darkness in this often overwhelming world.

I recognize that poetry, like any written form, is subjective. The entries in this book experiment with several different styles and include both rhyming and free-verse poems. Some of you may appreciate the variety while others of you prefer more consistency in structure. Regardless, my prayer is that you, if you choose to pick up Metamorphosis, will walk away with the understanding, or at least a seed for understanding, that you matter, God's love for you is unconditional, and there are brighter days ahead-Not perfect days, but much brighter days.

Metamorphosis is a book of inspirational poetry by Kayla E. Green. With God and his purpose in mind, the author delivers fifty poems that describe her battle with depression and anxiety and her transformation as she focuses on positive biblical scripture. Scriptures from the Bible are present throughout her work, and they point to the theme of the poem that follows them. The ending piece is symbolic of a baptism as Green refocuses her energy and sheds negative feelings.
Kayla E. Green finds a beautiful way of linking her poems with the verses from the Bible, and her passion for poetry and Christianity is refreshing. The poems magnify the pain she feels and her continued faith in God. Green embraces Christianity and gives the credit for her renewed strength and confidence to God. Most of the poems are written in free verse, but she experiments with a wide range of deliveries. Still, the author’s tone is clear, and her message is profound. Readers will be familiar with the scripture used in the book, but the works are original and inspirational, citing feelings of temptation, sadness, and self-doubt, but also showcasing love, acceptance, and renewal. Readers will move through the pieces, some of which read like stories, finding relatable gems in Green’s words. Her poems could be viewed as a testimony, and they may help others who are dealing with similar issues as the ones described in her book. Metamorphosis is a great selection for readers who enjoy poetry about personal transformations told from a Christian perspective.

Metamorphosis is a wonderful collection of poetry that highlights the transformation that comes with the Christian journey. I absolutely love how each poem is accompanied by a Bible verse, and how Kayla shares her heart for the Lord in the verses. These poems are personal and beautiful! Some of my favorites were Don’t Worry, In The Desert, Evelynn, and I’m a Butterfly! I can’t wait to read more from her!

If you are looking for a short, faith-filled poetry collection, you should definitely check it!
