Finally, readers of the Neighborly Affection series get the other side of the story...

Jay Kress knows his lover is into the girl next door. As a polyamorous bisexual guy, he’s cool with that. And he’s pretty sure the gal is into Henry, too, if their explosive dinner party is any clue.

But now he'll have to tackle a submissive’s toughest job: getting his lovers to make the

For fans of M.Q. Barber’s Neighborly Affection series her recent announcement that she was retaining her rights and re-releasing the series in self-publication, with a new book to follow, was a dream. That dream is now reality – Tuesdays with Jay and Other Stories: A Neighborly Affection Companion. Those familiar with Ms. Barber’s newsletter will see this as a collection of her regular musings from Jay… giving his side of the story. In M.Q.’s words, “He confided his feelings for thirty-nine stor ...more

Ah, but how I loved revisiting these Tuesday quickies with Jay, Henry, and Alice! And yes, I read Tuesdays with Jay and Other Stories in a Tuesday because reading it on any other day would have felt wrong. Originally published through M.Q. Barber's newsletter, the author has gathered together these snippets of Jay's Tuesdays to make for the perfect accompaniment to her Neighborly Affection series, which remains one of my personal favorites. I loved this book, which is a companion novel to the "Neighborly Affection" series. A third-person heroine POV, BDSM DM/sm/sf menage that is ultimately about two men who try to teach a woman what love looks like, so that she may recognize it in them for each other and for her.

It isn't meant to be read outside the series as the novella between books, but alongside it, chapter by chapter. Each chapter of Tuesdays with Jay has a sub-heading pointing the reader to the place in the series that it tak

This is a collection of short stories originally shared by M.Q. Barber with her newsletter subscribers that gives us Jay's POV and the rare glimpse of Henry's POV over the course of the first 2 books in her Neighborly Affection series which are told exclusively in Alice's POV. This series is not standalone and should be read in sequence to understand how these characters develop and grow into their triad.

Having said that, chapters 1-21 p

I love, love, LOVE this series, and the characters of Henry, Jay and Alice - so this was an eagerly awaited book for me.  This is not stand alone.  You need to have read the first Neighborly Affection book "Playing the Game" to appreciate this one, or at least have started it, as the stories in "Tuesdays with Jay" begin during the time period of that first book.  MQ Barber states at the beginning of each chapter which chapter and book that weeks time period is set in.  So without having read, or ...more

There’s nary a word published by MQ Barber that I haven’t read. Repeatedly. I’m a *huge* fan of her work, her modern twists on romance, and her ability to convey characters’ fears, passion and growth. Even though I’d already read most of the contents of Tuesdays with Jay before it was published in the collection, I am delighted to have all the stories snuggled between the covers of this book.

I have loved this series, and have been hooked from the very first book. This is an amazing addition to the series because it gives a new perspective on the building of the relationship between Henry, Jay, and Alice. In Playing the Game and Crossing the Lines you get to see the relationship from Alice's point of view, and even get a sense of Henry's motivations by his actions, but Jay appears to be following their lead. In Tuesdays With Jay you get to see the true importance of Jay's role in bui ...more

So my absolute favorite series, most re-read, have the paperbacks on my shelf is Neighborly Affections.  I adore Henry, Jay, and Alice and was sad when their journey looked like it was ending so when I heard that M.Q. Barber was putting out her "Tuesdays with Jay", a series of short Jay POVs that are included with her newsletters, monthly, I was so excited.  I hadn't gotten all of them (I came in after they started and my email sometimes sent them to spam so I missed a few) so having them all in ...more

I found this book to be positively endearing. Having previously read the Neighborly Affection series, I had already long ago fallen in love with the character of Jay. Of my long list of book boyfriends, Jay easily commands the top spot. Jay is the embodiment of goodness, purity, and love all wrapped up in a super sexy submissive package. The man is all heart. This glimpse into the inner workings of Jay’s mind only serves to underscore that fact. The reader can’t help but be completely drawn in b ...more

I am so excited to be an advance reader of the latest book in the Neighborly Affection series "Tuesdays with Jay". I fell in love with each of these characters years ago, reading, and re-reading the series, eagerly anticipating the next episode in the saga. This perspective from the most talkative but least represented Jay is like the icing on the perfect cake of their relationship...and my relationship with them!

Like the other books in the series, this one is steamy! Just the right amount thou

This is a story about 3 people that find each other, and fall in love with some masterful dominance. While the original series is told from Alice's POV, this book is told from Jays POV.

It took me a while to write this review because I ended up reading this book, then rereading the former books, then reading this book while reading books 1 and two as they happened. I am such a huge fan of this book and series.

So long story short, I LOVE

I had anticipated tearing through this collection of Barber’s newsletter short stories and interludes in one sitting but found myself taking each story in its leisurely turn and savoring them individually. I gave myself time to think back to where each short fit into the timeline of the series and even went to that point in the previous novels to reread sections to refresh my memory here and there.

I'm always curious with series to discover if the books work as stand alone pieces or not. Not that it's necessary, but it just interests me to know. This one, of course, does not. But why would it?

As a true companion to the Neighborly Affection series, it is a joy to read alongside the original books. I had already read the rest of the series, but I allotted time for a re-read with this one, and I'm so glad I did. This book just adds a tremendous amount of depth to the storyline. Jay's take on

Tuesdays with Jay and Other Stories: A Neighborly Affection Companion is book 2.5 in the series. It is a full length read and gives us Jays perspective on the events that happen in previous books in the series.

I am absolutely obsessed with this series and was not disappointed with this new addition! I have always loved Jay's character but I love him even more now after getting a glimpse into his mind. The author allows us to see his vulnerability, fears, and hopes. It was great to see a differe
In a world amidst darkness, Tuesdays with Jay is the light we need!

Where to even begin with our dear boy? I've long since been at the top end of the list of the biggest fans of the Neighbourly Affection series and this companion novel to the first two books, as well as a sneak peek into the trio's future, only adds to the brilliance of the series.

Jay is that perfect combination of sweet, protective, submissive and sexy. Having his POV of the lovers' journey added a whole new dimension to the ori

MQ Barber's Tuesdays with Jay and Other Stories. A must read.
I have read all of the Neighborly Affection books. This is a collection of lunch dates between Jay and Alice and relayed in detail to Henry via Jay. This collection gives more insight into the hearts and minds of the trio from Jay's perspective. The trio a beautifully brought to life by Ms. Barber. Theirs is a love story of soulmates. Henry, Jay and Alice are entertaining and fierce in their unconditional love for each other. Ms. Barbe

I have been a fan of the trio since the very beginning! I was thrilled when MQ Barber started adding the shorts of Tuesdays with Jay to her newsletter. It was wonderful to see the trio's relationship from Jay's POV. It was so fun to really see what Jay wanted and felt through the first two books of the series. His growth in these stories is so thoughtful.
These stories follow along with books 1 & 2. It is highly recommended to read these stories along as you read the books; they give so much more

This book is a wonderful addition to the Neighborly series. It is best read either as an add-on after reading the other books in the Neighborly series, or consumed as a "side-dish" to the series. Either way, it reels you in, into the world of Jay, Henry and Alice, and all of their awkwardness, angst, lack of confidence, second guessing themselves and each other, and of course their love, desire, and support for each other. They slowly, too slowly if you ask Jay, arrive in their respective roles ...more

A wonderful and welcome addition to the Neighborly Affection series. This is one of my favorite series and the awesome little bites contained within this book add to the richness of the BDSM MMF love story told in the books. I keep up to date via M.Q. Barber's Tuesdays with Jay newsletters because I am always thirsty for another look into the lives of Jay, Henry, and Alice, but it's so great to have them collected here, clearly marked with which book and chapter they belong. I'm so glad they're back!

These characters are like family to myself, and several others I know. It's an absolute thrill to have the back again! Henry, Jay, and Alice have been sorely missed. This series is one of my all time favorites. I read the paperbacks until they fell apart, and now have them on every device I own. Just in case I feel like I need to spend an healing afternoon visiting with beloved friends. If you haven't treated yourself to the magic that is the Neighborly Affection series

Fantastic book! If you have read M.Q. Barber’s Neighborly Affection stories then you’re probably as in love with Jay as I am. He and his fellow submissive/part time dominate Alice are in a relationship with Henry, (who I’m really in love with!), meet every Tuesday for lunch. These are from his point of view & give us insight to the relationship. It was great seeing a peak behind the curtain of what Jay was thinking & how he strengthened them all.
Wonderful as usual!

Fabulous!!! Once again M.Q. Barber gives us another side to look at this trio. I have all the books in this collection and enjoyed having all of the side stories in one place. With a description at the beginning of each chapter it was easy to fit them into the story and flip between 2 books reading the continuous story. Loved it although I have read all of this before and will read again, it is nice to have all of the side books in one place as I mentioned before. Thank You soooo much M.Q.

I originally read the series without the companion novel. After the Tuesdays with Jay book came out, I read books 1 & 2 again. It is really nice to have Jays perspective, along with more understanding of what's going on with Henry. It gives the whole story more depth and really had me rooting for Jay & Henry to get their third. I didn't see how difficult it was for Jay to be patient and follow Henry's lead until reading this book. Thankfully Jay finally took matters into his own hands! ...more

I loved reading this we got inside of Jays mind and learned how much he really wanted Alice to be with him and Henry .... He loved their Friday nights but he wanted to have Alice with them all the time..... We also see a different side of Henry which I loved ..... I am so happy that the author is continuing the Henry,Jay and Alice story and cant wait to read more

This was a great peak inside Jay's head, to get to see his point of view during the first 3 books of the series. M. Q. Barber's writing is as always, poignant, emotional and sensual. Her healthy portrayal of characters growing through trial, trauma, and love is delightful.

Great Read

This book is a great companion to M.Q Barber’s Neighborly Affection series. I highly recommend you read those books as well. The characters are well written and real and the sex scenes are erotic without being overly graphic and raunchy. I have read the series multiple times and love this newest addition to Henry, Jay and Alice’s story.

I am a big fan of the Neighborly Affection series and have read the series many times. This book takes the action one step further by getting insight to Jays thoughts in the weeks in between the contract Friday's. It lets us see more interaction between Jay and Henry too. Highly recommend.

How fun to read this companion along with books 1-almost3, which I’d read before. It explained so much. I had to put it down halfway through because it was going too fast. Now that I’m done my only complaint is that it’s over.

Can’t wait until the next book!
