The first time Anna tried to read a romance novel, her hair caught on fire when she leaned over a candle to sneak a peek at her mom’s Harlequin. She thinks being hit on the head with a shirtless Fabio until the smoke cleared is what sparked the flame for her love of romance. Anna was born in Wisconsin, but currently lives in Texas with her husband and two boys. She writes sexy romance that always has a happy ending and loves bringing characters back for cameos. Less than six degrees of separation connects any of her novels. When she’s not writing or reading, she’s watching reruns of her favorite romcoms, talking to her dog and cat like they’re human, eating carbs, or practicing hand lettering. She loves to hear from readers and can be found on social media as @annabrooksauth everywhere.
I have been waiting for this book ever since that scene went down in the second book Show Me How. I’ve been stalking this author for this book and I have to say she certainly didn’t let me down.
I made the mistake of taking a shower and climbing into bed thinking I’ll just read a couple of chapters. Umm big mistake. This book had my heart racing, it gave me palpitations and it had me very, very tired the next day.
One weakness can change everything.
Meara and Liam were friends long before they fell in love, which makes for the best love stories. Their future was already planned before they graduated high school. Meara would take over her family bar and Liam, well he always dreamed that he wanted to play drums.
This couple put their faith in the love they had for each other. Meara was not going to become the clingy girlfriend that she hates. She is going to give him his dream and be there waiting for him. I mean how long can a tour last? Let’s just say she has the patience of a saint!
One tour turns into two tours which turns into years of them being apart. I have to admit I thought she would give up. I thought we would fast forward seven years with them apart, but to my surprise and joy not only were they still together they still loved each other something fierce!
I would expect someone who is so famous to have groupies hanging off of him but Liam…Well this man, he has my heart. He is ready to call this tour thing off. He has sacrificed everything for his band and for once he wants to put himself first, but most of all he wants to put Meara first.
Six more months that is all they have to make if through, but what happens when that six months become the final straw? What happens when his one weakness changes everything that he knows?
His dark secret is exposed and his entire world crumbles around him, he has no choice but to let her go.
Letting her go is not what he ever planned to do. Keeping her safe, keeping her love , keeping her his is the only thing that he ever planned to do.
But now that he’s lost her, can he get her back? Can these two finally have the ending that they dreamed of having when they were teenagers?
Will their love be able to repair the heartbreak and lies?
One night was all it took for everything to fall apart.
Can one moment be all that’s needed to repair it?
Can he actually become the man that she knows he can be? Can he prove to her that all his darkness is gone because in the end she’s his light? All he has to do is prove her right, how hard can it be!
I loved every second of this book. I loved their banter, I loved their sex, I loved their love. There was a kindness to it, there was a innocence to it, there was a forever to it.
This story was so unexpected. I have come to believe that Anna Brooks is not only an absolutely Brilliant Author but her Writing is going to 100% Take your breath away... I couldn't put this book down. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough just to see what happens next. How do they fix this and when do they find their happy...
Now I may have acted like a loon but that's because this story was filled with angst and drama.. not unnecessary drama but drama that had you addicted to the story. That has you trapped in their world and you are not willing to leave until you see this through with them. I don't like books when a main character is a celebrity but I trusted in Anna and Gosh did she deliver.
This story is about Liam and Meara... These two have been together since they were teens, but they know each other for years. Their Love is something so powerful, unselfish and that when even put into words you fear you may never do it Justice by trying to describe it.
Liam is a Rock Star and goes off to fulfill his dreams. And our Meara being the beautiful Woman she is never holds him back. She loves him, supports him and has the utmost faith in him. I swear I know I could never be half the woman she is. I admire her and Bow my head to her. She sacrifices having her love around, she misses out on things that we take for granted everyday when we are with our other half. For years they don't have a normal relationship but just a few stolen moments ever couple months and this Amazing, phenomenal woman is ok with that. Ok with waiting at home for him.... Now even though Lee is away from he is just as Miserable. His life is Meara and he wants to be home with her but him being that Kindhearted Man he is he can't also just leave his band. They have become his family as well. He knows it's time and knows he can't do this anymore he needs to he home. When he can't just up and leave he struggles and uses things that can destroy his relationship as a crutch.. Home for him is where his Heart is and his heart is Meara. She is his world so when he eventually makes his mind up that he is done with it all is should be the best news ever. It should be the happiest time ever right but No things turn so fast it leaves our heads spinning.
God I didn't see these twists and turns come about. I was left Shattered just Shattered. It was Hit after Hit. The universe was conspiring to break these two like they haven't been living half a life along and finally when they get to be with each other things happen that threatened everything. I was a Sobbing, blubbering mess. Ladies parts of this story will really just have you choking. You will wanna hug these two and sometimes throw ur kindle or slap them....
These two are like a Beautiful Puzzle when together they are astonishing and when apart it doesn't make sense. They are so inlove, so good together, so Hot together. You know to the depths of ur Soul these two shouldn't be going through this and at times just wanna bang their heads together....
That's when you see Liam fight. BOY OH BOY does he fight. He Fights Demons, he Fights his past and then fights for his girl.. You will be so proud of these two... you will be in Utter Awe of them. Their will to fight when the world keeps stacking up battles... They know what they have is something so Rare. Most people are never lucky to have what they share with each other... so they fight and come out Victorious and stronger...
I loved watching these to get their Fairytale ending if anyone deserved this they did. Anna has Wowed me yet again and also left me wondering who is our next couple. You see many potential characters but she really does leave us wondering. Grab this book ladies and be prepared to not wanna put this book down... have plenty Tissues and a huge glass of wine in hand... Enjoy Ladies!!!!!
For me this book was filled full of drama and excuses. On one hand I thought is was wonderful that Liam was true to Meara even with many years apart he never once cheated. The trouble I have with him is he used other things to get over not being with her and could lose everything. Whatever decisions we make in life we must take the blame for them right or wrong. You do not blame others or issues you are going through for what you do. Liam is not a strong character and comes off almost baby-fide. I do however found this to a believable story and feel this is the case with a few people who look to escape issues. I cannot say I like Liam at all but I do understand him which doesn't make him right.
Meara is a strong character even when times get bad she never gives up and always puts her man first. That is until he goes back to his old ways. She said what would happen if he did and she stuck by her word. I really liked her a lot she comes across as a well put together person. She focuses on her future and never waves from her goals.
This was a good read just to much drama for me about how one man falls apart when he can't be where he wants to be because of his choices. All characters can't be people we like they tell a story of how it really is. As a women I am just sure I would ever trust him again it would be to easy for him to fall back to his old ways when things didn't go the way he wanted them. The author does give you a HAE and at times a very sad touching read.
Loved it!!! Had me rooting for them from the very beginning, in tears by the second chapter, and hopeful 'till the end. I really liked the plot and how Anna worked with it to make it believable. I believe she really accomplished what I think she was looking for: a sweet love story with steamy and some dark twists that in the end delivers a beautiful HEA. I felt the complexity from both primary characters since the beginning, both knowing what they felt and wanted and working to achieve it. Meara is a loving and fun girl, doing everything she can so that the man she loves con fulfill his dream of becoming a succesful musician while she puts her needs on hold in order for him to feel happy and accomplished. Liam is your usual rocker with lots of talent, love and ghosts that come haunting him and might break everything that is beautiful and dear to him.
WOW!!!!! Once again, Anna Brooks took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride throughout PROVE ME RIGHT, and I didn't want to get off!! I loved that Liam and Meara were childhood sweethearts that were honest in their feelings for each other from a very young age, and despite the separation and demands of Liam being in a rock band, their love for each other never once faltered. I loved Meara, she was a strong heroine and her love and trust for Liam was commendable!! She was selfless as she let him pursue his dreams whilst she waited behind for him. And Liam, although a little less alpha than Ms. Brooks's usual heroes, my heart still broke for him as he battled with addiction and admired him for his perseverance to recovery. This is a emotional story that will make you feel for all the good and bad that these characters go thru.
What do you do when the one thing you told your boyfriend you wouldn't stand for happens? Do you stick to what you said or do you forgive again? Meara and Liam have lived each other since they were little. Meara helps run her family's bar, Liam is in a rock band. Meara stayed behind, being supportive while Liam was on the road knowing he would come home some day and they would start their lives together. But when being on the road turns out to be longer than he planned and old demons start to return, will the couple meant to be get their chance?
I love a good rockstar romance, and I love it when I am surprised. This one sure surprised me. Mainly because it was a difference kind of rockstar romance. It shows long distance relationships with a band member can work but can also cause some serious issues.
I loved the characters. Everyone of them was unique in their own personal way. And the story was easy to follow. Even though I haven't read the first two books in the series, I don't think I need to. This can definitely be read as a stand alone.
I am sort of on the fence with this read. Was really into it at the beginning but then I sort of start to disconnect. I enjoyed the relationship between Liam and Meara, a teen to adult romance. His jealousy makes me laugh at times. I also likes the closeness of the characters. Would love to find out more of what happens to Nik and Lisa.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been very rare that I have been able to read a book in one day, but I was captivated by these characters instantaneously.
Let me just start off by saying that I have already set an alarm in my phone to remind me to be on the look out for the next book in this series! I absolutely LOVE these novels and the romantic atmosphere that they bring without becoming crude and overbearing. So many times, now-a-days, there are individuals out there quick to write a fast story with too much lust and not enough romance; however, you never have to worry about that when it comes to the It's Kind of Personal series!
Kick back in your chair, dim the lights, make yourself something to drink along with a snack while you join the story of a young woman discovering that maybe love is within her grasp after all. Everyone gives up too easily on relationships but no one ever looks deeper to see why they might have broken in the first place, after 17 years and more guilt placed upon their own shoulders than that of anyone else could ever place upon them; two individuals find out that forgiveness might just can heal the wounds that cannot be brought back from, if only they will allow it. Come and read about a self-reliant young lady finding that not all men are the same, and a young man find out that some women actually do things with their man's best interest in mind! There are some men out there who are just wanting to love and protect their woman and not take advantage of them; there are some women out there who do not want to leave their man when everything they could get from them is gone.
Prove Me Right It's Kind of Personal, Book 3 By: Anna Brooks Narrated by: Nelson Hobbs, Neva Navarre
Another great addition to Anna Brooks’ “It’s Kind of Personal” Series. She continues to pen these wonderful stories, they are heartfelt, realistic and engrossing from start to end. This is Liam and Meara’s story, they were childhood friends whose friendship grew to a deep love. Liam, a drummer in a band was away most of the time touring with his band. Meara, home running the family bar they were the relationship work. But Liam has some demons and hides them well from Meara. But when those demons come to surface and Meara finds out what was going on she runs and ends it with him. So much goes on, they each go though so much, she suffers a devastating loss, he has to come to terms with his demons. They both have their struggles, is their love strong enough to survive, can she find room in her heart to forgive. I like how Anna Brooks handled their challenges, especially his. Their story is a great one, it is heartfelt and emotional at times but everyone deserves their fairytale ending. Thanks for another great story! While this is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone but I highly recommend not only this book but the entire series.
I listened to the Audible edition, Nelson Hobbs and Neva Navarre are amazing narrators and storytellers. They bring the characters and their story to life from the pages to your ears. Thanks for another great and entertaining listen🎧
This is the 3rd book of the series and frankly my last. I really tried to like these stories and characters. As with the other two books, I didn’t hate it but I just didn’t love it.
I just couldn’t get over how each character that this author writes is like grown ass children throwing temper tantrums.
But I will say, this book started off for me on a bad note. If an author can’t get their timeline start then clearly this author doesn’t care about the reader. See timeline based on books.
Book 1. Charlotte has a 6 month old at the one year mark of their anniversary as per epilogue when she wasn’t even pregnant when she married. Yes folks, the math ain’t mathing. Then she tells Travis she’s pregnant again. FYI, this anniversary happened around fall.
Book 2. Incident with Meara and Liam occurs in the spring when Mary is about to turn 30 which she says is in April. Baby Caroline should be at most 14 months?
Book 3. Before said incident above occurred, baby Caroline is 2 with no future sibling in sight.
I can get behind a book that is far fetched and maybe not accurate but the flip flop of these characters got tiresome. I actually had to skip paragraphs just to get through this book.
Spoiler alert, Liam proposes and Meara’s response is “yes I do!! This is freaking awesome!!” Says no one!
I really tried but sadly these books are just not for me. Not terrible but not great either.
How appropriate that this book deals with addiction. I am so addicted to these books. The are a daytime soap opera in book form--As the Page Turns.
Liam and Meara have been together forever. They even married in a treehouse when they were 12. They are just that right together. But every relationship has its challenges. Theirs is distance He has been touring for seven years. He is lonely. He drowns his sorrows in vodka and when that doesn't work he goes deeper.
Meara is addicted to work. Every hour working is an hour of distraction. How much longer can they hang on. Will Liam keep it together and stay clean? Will they survive if he slips?
Meara's life isn't without drama. She is desperate to have Liam home for good. Six months and then they can be together forever. But sometimes six months can seem like forever, an impossible time to wait.
If the drama created by Liam and Meara wasn't enough to keep me flipping the pages, Anna Brooks gave so much more. Many of the characters from past books still pop in and out. The happiness oozes from the pages lessening the sorrow from Liam and Meara.
Meara & Liam have been THE couple throughout this series. They've been together forever - quite literally, as their moms are bffs. : ) We don't see them together a lot in the other books, but they're still very much a presence.
And their story is SUPER emotional. I wanted to give each of them sooooo many hugs! They each have struggles, but they never give up on each other - even tho it gets touchy! It ripped my heart to pieces & then put it back together beautifully. The only thing keeping this from being a 5++ star for me was the amount of time they were apart for their story. The reasons they were apart were valid, but I just wanted to see more of their together time. : )
Interesting story but too way too much profanity, down and dirty raw sex and offensive religious references . I only read this book in preparation to read Loving Liam. Liam is the reluctant drummer of Reason to Ruin band, with three of his best friends. This book explains how much he hates touring and being apart from Meara, his childhood sweetheart. To escape the pain, his addict father gives him drugs and Liam almost dies of an overdose. Meara gives him a second chance even after she sees him using. But then, she's hiding a secret also - too afraid if she tells him Liam will fall down the rabbit hole once again.
I love a good rock star romance and Liam makes me swoon. I have loved this series and in previous books we saw Liam and Meara-I wanted their story. Childhood sweethearts into a long distance relationship puts pressure on their love. Life interferes and sometimes the struggle is too much and we fall apart. When everything completely falls apart, do they love each other enough to fight not only for their love but for life? Beautiful story that had me cringing in some spots and sighing in others. Loved it!!
I enjoyed the Meara and Liam’s story, they were both very likable. And the love they had is one I envy, they were it for each other no matter what they were going through and like I said I loved that!My only complaint is that I would have loved an epilogue after she had the baby, to see them with their baby and how their life is going. I know this is a series and I am sure I will see them in other books, but they will not be the focus like they would in an epilogue in their book.
Awe Liam... Usually when authors write about a couple thats already been together before their book I find I get bored with their story. Prove Me Right was the opposite. I was so excited to get to Liams and Meeras book. Supporting your spouse so they can fulfill their dreams is so hard to do especially when they are left behind. While I don't agree with some of the things she does, I can sympathize about the way she acted being in that situation. I love Liam and wish he would of seen his self worth a lot earlier .
Meara and Liam were friends long before they fell in love. Liam was a drummer in a band so he was on the road a long time. Meara went to see his band play and found out something that broke her heart. She also told Liam she would never forgive him if it happened again. Liam had a hard time but was finally able to fix things with Meara. Heartbreak and a lot of tears later, they found everything they were looking for.
This is Liam’s story, member and founder of the band Ruins to Reason. Liam been playing music since he’s 13 years old and grew up with Meara his best friend and love of his life. This is their love story and journey to their HEA…a story you don’t want to miss! Their love and commitment to each other is rare, unbelievably strong and unbreakable no matter what life throws at them. And they go through a lot! A must read for those who believe in true unconditional love ❤️!
Sad to read as he goes through his addiction. I was hoping he could still play but it seems people have the attitude that you can't remain in the industry with drugs. This is what I get from reading these books. I loved how its resolved in the romance part. They sure go through the ringer but she was wrong on her response but glad friends helped her through her mistake. Liam needed support.
This series is beautiful. You seriously get addicted to the charchters. They are all woven together to tell a beautiful journey amongst friends and families.
This was a sweet love story! I liked the way author did not dwell on the past (i.e. quick reflection on Lee’s overdose) and kept moving the story line forward. This was a quick and easy read :)
Recovery therapist here and the discussion of addiction and subsequent recovery work just threw me out of the book. That being said the characters seemed intense and the sex was pretty ok.
So this is book three in the series. This started out good for me but just got a little bit boring. The storyline as I kept reading got a lot more interesting. The characters where good but just felt like so much was going on with them. Thanks
So many tears were shed with this one. Childhood friends and so many ups and downs. They went through so much to be together and live a life they dreamed of growing up.
This may be my favorite book of the series. I love second chances and sometimes even third chances if they are warranted and these two deserve it all. A lot of emotions in Liam and Maera story that you feel as you are reading. This series is a great binge read and I look forward to the next one.
Third book in the series and I'm still loving! This story is about Meira, the feisty cousin we've been waiting to hear about and her rockstar drummer boyfriend Liam. This book still had all of the original items I love from this author, great character development, character interaction, dialogue, angst, supporting characters, and steam! This book had a little more heartbreak but it was done so well and I really felt like it added to my experience while reading it. There storyline seemed almost far-fetched because it was so perfect but I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Book 4 next!
