True Mates Generations #9

Heart of the Wolf

Rate this book
Spoiled, rich, and vain Isabelle Anderson has grown up. After being left pregnant and alone by her True Mate, she’s finally standing on her own two feet and built a life for herself and her son. But, when Ransom turns up unexpectedly, the foundations of her life are threatened and she knows she must do everything she can to prevent him from finding out that he is her son’s father. But more than that, she must also protect her own heart, which yearns for him despite his betrayal.

The moment he saw her, Lone Wolf Ransom knew he had to have Isabelle. The vapid and selfish princess was hiding a heart of gold, and one smile from her melted his resistance. But, circumstances forced him to push her away, for her own good. There was a plan that was set in motion long ago, and she was a complication he couldn’t afford, not when he was so close to what he wanted: revenge on those who wronged him in the past. He managed to stay away from her, but when her life is threatened, it was seemingly impossible for him to ignore it and he seeks her out to protect her.

When they cross paths, that old attraction sparks again—but was it really ever extinguished? Will Isabelle be able to keep the existence of their son from him? Can Ransom put revenge aside for good in order to win her back and prove to her they were meant to be together?

But their enemies have ramped up in full force and their threat is much bigger than both of them. As the fight heats up, can they focus on defeating the mages, while ignoring the call of True Mates? Or will the mages finally get what they want—the destruction of the Lycans and rule over of the entire world and humankind?

Find out by downloading the exciting conclusion to the True Mates Generations series!

Oh ,I’m destroyed that this is the last of the series.
Damn this is such a good book, outstanding chemistry with these two ,puts it into a league all its own .

Ransom is a brooding, MC leader with a dark background and a secret longing for a certain Alphas youngest daughter .

That daughter ,Isabelle , is a spoiled daddy’s girl , one who’s determined to get what she wants.
When push comes to shove can she keep the man she believes is her true mate, or will his past tear him from her side forever.

A brilliant book that’s got as many tearful scenes as happy ones, it’s written so well you can’t wait to read it, cover to cover.
As always the worst part about Alicia’s books are the end knowing you have months to wait for the next one .

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

OMG I loved this whole series!! I'll admit, I hadn't read shifter books in a LONG time and suddenly up pops this Facebook ad and I think... meh, I probably won't like it but the cover looks great (Fated Mates, book 1 in the series). I download... eight days later I emerge from my kindle and I've read about 15 books and have demolished the first original series and then this spin off (and all the little stand alones inbetween). I stopped writing and housework so I could just read LOL. I have no regrets. I loved this whole True Mates series and this book finished it off perfectly. I am officially a fan of Alicia's. WOW. If you're into hot steamy shifter books (and even if you're not) give this series a try!

Manipulation and abuse

This book could be used in social science lectures as a discussion for why people stay with abusive spouses. The “romance” is that it’s Isabelle’s fault that Ransom was emotionally and verbally abusive to her before he abandoned her and that it’s her responsibility to take him back because it’s what he wants. What Isabelle wants is irrelevant. At the start of the book, Isabelle is basically a vapid Kardashian (or standard 21 year old at a club) and the author takes great pleasure in having the male character, Ransom, treat her like dog poop on the bottom of his shoe. Once he’s done having sex with her, Ransom calls her names, attacks her character, and ditches her for 2 years. Ransom eventually shows back up in Isabelle’s life, literally every single other character takes Ransom’s side in everything, going out of their way to make sure that Isabelle knows that they prefer Ransom to her - her brother, SIL, parents, the other women she mistakenly believed were her friends and their spouses all blame Isabelle and make excuses for Ransom. Not one single person gaf about Isabelle and/or her son except to pat Ransom on the back. Gosh the “true mate”-thing seems so romantic when Isabelle is coerced, manipulated, and eventually forced to be with Ransom by her everyone in her life. She begs Tansom to leave her alone at work - her mother steps in to tell her off. She begs for sanctuary in her own home and the doorman delights in telling her “no”. Is there really a true love story in a book where the female protagonist has no agency?

I've been dying to read this book since I read Julliana's story. But I couldn't find Isabelle's book on goodreads because it doesn't say what series it's part of. After searching the book series up on Google, I found out that her book is the 9th (and I believe last) book to the series.

This was a good story. It concluded everyone else's story in the series. I think it did, there were so many characters and I haven't read the entire series, only 3 books, but all their stories were concluded and all the characters made an appearance.

I would have expected a bit more from Isabelle's story. I wanted more groveling from Ransom first of all, and there was like a page maybe. Not any more, really. And since Ransom, her true mate was part of an MC, I expected more biker stuff. Again, hardly anything.

Their story was okay. It might have even been really good, but I was expecting something different to what I got, and I'm slightly disappointed. I also wanted more of a family concept, I wanted more of Isabelle's family. I mean her family is in this book A LOT, but I wanted more Grant and Isebelle scenes.

The epic battle that's been building this whole series has come to a conclusion, so expect lots of actions and surprises! But also, we get to see Isabelle and Ransom's story. Such opposite people, and for a few books, it was this big secret who her baby daddy was. And why couldn't they be together? That whole situation was crazy.

I'm glad they were able to work it out though because not only was their chemistry crazy hot and strong, but Ransom is so sincere and loving to her and their son. The end is awesome. Seeing all the families in the series come together for (hopefully) the big showdown, using all their skills and abilities. And the epilogue surprised me, very unexpected, at least parts of it. I've really enjoyed this series and everyone in it. PS Don't read this on it's own, go back and read the rest first, that's my suggestion at least.

I am really sad that this is the last book in the series and at the same time i am happy that this book is about Isabella and Ransome.
It was fast paced and finally we saw the conclusion of the fight with the mages.
It was a really emotional book . Lots of action and lots of twists and turns.
An amazing story and a great ending to the series.

That was the most amazing story, it was a grand ending to the series, or at least to the big deal with the mages and the impending war. The story was between Isabelle and Ransom. A year and so after those two hooked up little Evan is in the picture and ten months old. After their passionate acquaintance and disastrous breakup Isabelle managed to be raising Evan on her own and she's told no one who is the father. Ransom was brought in by Cross to help fight the mages, and instead of leaving back to Kentucky receives a anonymous phone call encouraging him to stay and gather more information about Grant the ex alpha and the man who supposedly ruined Ransom and his mother's life. After finding out who Isabelle was he wanted to forget about revenge however the phone call threatened his sister's life. Cross and Ransom went to meet the alpha for dinner and showed up at the family restaurant where Isabelle worked. The whole time those two were trying to get together, and amongst all the troubles you could really feel for Ransom he wanted to do the right thing, he wanted his little family, he wanted to come clean however was thwarted each time. Finally just as everything is going well for the two in steps the evil mom. That was the beginning of the end. And what an ending it was a global family reunion, including appearances of the king and queen. I so enjoyed reading about all the people we knew and just what part they played in the endgame. This book is so good I'm going to have to re-read it to make sure I got it all. I do hope there's a little something about Wyatt and Lizzie those two deserve it. I voluntarily received an advanced reader copy of this book.

Isabelle’s story was everything I could hope for!

As the youngest of the Anderson siblings, Isabelle’s been a side character in most of the previous books in this series, and I was thrilled to find out that the conclusion would give us her entire story. We knew she’d had a child, but only in the most recent book did we get a hint as to the father’s identity. Here, in Heart of the Wolf, we get the WHOLE story of how she and Ransom met, what tore them apart, and how they find their way back to each other. And WOW! What a story it is!

Isabelle and Ransom’s love story is complicated by both hers and his family connections, but the author’s amazing writing always kept the focus on the simplicity of their love. The action and suspense was exquisitely balanced between intense and triumphant. The stunning conclusion to the overarching story line was nothing short of brilliant.

This is my favorite book of the entire series, though I’ve loved each and every one. Perhaps my favorite part is that, for the first time, we get a surprise double helping of the True Mate pregnancy phenomenon. It was beautifully done, and fit the characters perfectly. Getting to know Ransom’s “family” in Kentucky gives me hope that the author will eventually do a spin-off series for the Savage Wolves. This series is the very best in shifter romances, and if that’s your jam you don’t want to miss out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Pleasantly surprised.
I wasn’t keen on reading this book as it is about Isabelle, a very spoilt, privileged and self-absorbed shallow heroine. It was also going to have to jump back in time which is my least favourite plot type.
But I really was intrigued about Ransom and wanted to know his story.
Isabelle’s shallow attitude starts off this book but it was good to see her grow into maturity and to acknowledge how bad she had been. Motherhood had made her grow up. This didn’t make me like her at the end though.
Ransom has one hell of an ulterior motive for being in New York.
Now this played out well with a final battle with the mages taking place, causing one huge surprise in relation to the shifters which I did not see coming.
The whole situation with Ransom and his mother was not dealt with in a way I can accept.
Joanie feels like the proverbial bad penny that will come back.
Unfortunately, Isabelle forgives Ransom, the second time, way too easily after his mother discloses the terrible truth about what he was doing. I just found that part all to easily glossed over.
Hope the MC group and Silke, will get their stories too.
This is my honest review of this book.

OMG!!!!!! What an epic ending. Not that I wanted the series to end, all good things do. But what a way to go out. Ransom and Isabelle had such a difficult journey. There were times that I thought they were never going to work things out. While their chemistry just about sizzled off the pages, the secrets and misunderstandings were overwhelming. So much happened in this book. The surprises were non-stop. The action reached unseen levels. The suspense will keep you on the very edge throughout the entire read. We have watched these characters grow into all that they are now. It will take everyone coming together to finally put an end to the mages. And a battle it will be. Larger and more important than they have ever dealt with. This was long awaited, but oh so worth it. I'm sure at some point we will visit the Lycans again. For now, I will say goodbye to one of the most amazing worlds I have ever had the pleasure being a part of. Thank you Ms. Montgomery for so many wonderful stories. I'll see you back in Blackstone. This is my honest opinion of an advanced copy I received.

I wasn't sure how well Alicia (can I call someone I've never met by her first name? TOO LATE) was going to be able to wrap up this wild, crazy, and cool overarching story... But she nailed it! All that magic, mahem and intrigue is tied up nicely here, though the characters do have to work hard to get their happy ending. And that felt real. 💜

I have to admit that I was on the Isabelle Is Trifling bandwagon for the longest time during this series. But then when she came home from overseas, I was hooked on her, and wanted to get more info on her character arc. And I'm so happy to see that she got a fantastic HEA after all she'd been through. Now? I'm hoping Alicia will head over to MC, and get some lone wolfs some love. But honestly, I'll go wherever she leads.

PS - I received an ARC from the author, in exchange for absolutely nothing. I decided to write this review because I'm absolutely addicted to these characters and wanted to spread the love.

I really enjoyed this story. It was a great read. I loved finally getting Isabelle's story. We have met her in previous books in the series and we knew there was more to the story as she was pregnant with her True Mate's baby but there was no True Mate around and she would give up his name. I was so excited to finally get the story and see everything come together. We have seen more of the true Isabelle is the last story or two and it was great getting to see her heart of gold even more. I loved getting to see who she truly was and how she has matured with her son. I liked Ransom as well. There is a lot going on this story besides just the two of them. Everything is ramping up with the mages and they have to figure things out quickly in order to save everyone. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and this series! I am not ready for it to be over.

Amazing, must read 5 stars and more

If I could give 10 stars or more I would. I absolutely loved this series and the first ones. I actually didn't know after finishing the first true mates series you had carried on, that was over a year ago and made true mates generations. I had restarted reading the first series again a few weeks ago and noticed in your comments at the end that it wasn't all over and I was like OMG I have got to carry on. I have continually been reading them between shifts and days off constantly wondering what would happen next. I don't know who my favourite caricature could be but some of Merediths hilarious words have stuck with me. For any one who reads these amazing books be ready to laugh, cry and be angry believe me I went through a cluster of emotions reading true mates. Alice Montgomery you have a truly fabulous and amazing imagination and I really can't wait to read your next true mates series.

I really enjoyed this book. We had met both Ransom and Isabelle in previous books so I was really excited for them to get their story. Isabelle used to be a spoiled princess but I enjoyed her journey to growing up and becoming more responsible. Just because she had grown up doesn’t mean that she would just give in to Ransom. She made him work for her love, which just shows how strong she had become. Ransom has secrets, secrets that nearly pull them apart. It’s a little sad how clueless ransom was and I really enjoyed him becoming his own person not someone who Is easily manipulated as he was before. Also the ending seriously leaves me intrigued for more. It opens up a whole new world for the shifters and I’m excited to see what Alicia does with it.

***I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review***

The true mates series is a continuation of intrigue, danger, betrayal, revenge, witches, warlocks, mages, dragons, lycans and the loves of their lives. Conflicts and alliances are made between species and individuals who are struggling to find the right path.

The story centers on the true mates Ransom and Isabelle and their inner struggles coupled with outside forces. Long laid plans complicated their path to love and now with a child in the mix this mother isn’t looking for a second chance love story.

Ms. Montgomery never fails to entertain and wrap you up in her stories. She brings me back again and again and I don’t mind one bit. Get a copy of this book and you’ll see the struggles and inner workings of true mates.

Yay!!! We FINALLY get to learn who is isabelle's true mate, and father of her child! I loved every moment of their backstory, and then the complicated reunion. Loved seeing characters from many of the previous books, and reading the twists and turns of this newest battle. This family by blood, heart, and friendship just makes me smile every single time. Each and every member would willingly lie down for anyone in their circle. I'm also thrilled to see this series will indeed continue on in the True Mate world via future spinoff.... I for one am already looking forward to those future books! Each and every book in this series has been awesome! Chock full of adventure, suspense, excitement, romance, humor, friendships, family and oh so much more! Enjoy!

Just amazing. I loved this book and series but I’m so sad that it is the conclusion to the True Mates Generations series. We have watched so many characters grow up and find their True Mate. They may be fated for each other but that doesn’t mean it is instant love. Lust sometimes but not always love. And Ransom is definitely not on Isabella’s love list. He has secrets and lies that will destroy his chances. And the Mages are out to destroy them all. There is some amazing fighting scenes, some very tension filled ones and definitely some hot ones. I just hope to see them all back again in another series. There will never be enough stories of True Mates. Ms. Montgomery makes each story so amazing and unique. You just never know what to expect.

This is the book we have all been waiting for. We finally get to find out who is the mate of the spoilt youngest daughter of Frankie and Grant, the New York. Isabella has always got what she wanted and is used to the fine things. She meets a rugged, pierced, very sexy biker and they have a week of passion and then he leaves her with harsh words and a feeling of worthlessness. Despite the fact that we know it was to protect her. Fast forward almost two years and we meet up with Ransom and after helping in the recent alpha attack as a favour to his friend Cross he is back in New York. Isabella is scared that Ransom will find out that Evan is his son which of course he does. It takes time for Isabella to trust and for Ransom to acknowledge what he should have all along that Isabella is his true mate. He does some idiot moves but which true mate male doesnt 😂
This is the last in the series and it doesn’t disappoint. This story brings it to an end, answering many questions and the mages finally being defeated. They get their HEA but not before lots of twists and turns. I loved this book and it was a real page turner.

I read an advanced copy of this book.

This has been a long awaited book. It is nothing strange for this author to make us wait for the book we want the most. It's not a bad thing as I have loved every second of guessing who and what and where.... And oh boy, did I swallow the pages as if I hadn't read anything in the series so far.

There are no words to describe this sensation, this complete calm I have now that everything is said and done. I know we are not done with this world but at the same time we have so many new things we expect and want from this author.

A perfect book and a perfect story. It was just the right end of the series. Loved this couple.

He may be her true mate and the father of her child but Ransom broke Isabelle’s heart when he left her once before. At the time he didn’t know about true mates. He had a mission, which was compromised when he found out Isabelle’s real identity. Now Ransom is drawn into her clan’s battle with the mages. He’s in for the biggest fight of his life, but when his past is exposed will it be the end of them all? Not only is this story about trust and second chances its got everything I love about the true mates series, with family and allies all working together to defeat the mages, this is another explosive, heart stopping read from the True mates series.

Another True Mate story! This time it's Isabella the daughter of the New York Alpha, I mean the ex Alpha. He retired and his son is now the Alpha! Isabella meets a Lone wolf outside the nightclub her father owns and something sparks between them. Random is in New York spying for the mages but he doesn't know who they really are. His mother tricks him! When he get Isabelle alone well they get REAL close! She ends up pregnant and figures out he's her True Mate but he disappears! He doesn't know about true mates. He leaves to protect her so he thinks. Awesome storyline with great characters, most from other stories. Love this one!

This book made me laugh, cry, angry and anxious- lol - the story was amazing, I was worried the young and spoiled Isabelle would not be interesting but wow was I wrong! I loved this book and finding out what happened with Ransom and Isabelle. Alicia Montgomery writing is amazing- as she writes one story she incorporates the other characters along the way and by the end of the book your left with “wait- I HAVE TO KNOW MORE!” - As she delivers each story- you feel like your actually there and feeling the character’s emotions. Love this author’s writing- I love being lost in a book. Thank you Alicia- you are an amazing writer!

Wrapped up

Was happy with most of the story. Except for the battle scene.
I also disagreed with Isa. easily forgiving him at the beginning. No woman would so quickly wo making male suffer some more days.
Loved the ending chapter.

What do I want to see? Some of the odd characters deal with what happens now that secrets are out there. I do not want any more Mages. Would be great if they paired up with humans to fix human caused problems.
By the way author might want to ask others how they interpreted Lucas statement. I felt it had a different interpretation then author meant. Realized when they were at party the difference.

Did not disappoint from start to finish

I am ordinarily not one to leave reviews but after reading the whole true mates series and the generations. I felt like this totally deserved a review. I'm a avid reader but I get bored easily. I'm happy to say this series had me invested from start to finish. Thank you so much and you did an amazing job intertwining old and new characters and not forgetting about characters and that didn't have big roles! This series is definitely deserving of more than five stars. I wish they were done Audible because I would definitely purchase them and go back to re listen to different volumes.

Hearts struggle and overcome in this latest chapter of Ms. Montgomery's True Mates series. The reader is drawn into the exciting ride and resolution of the series. Her characters draw in the reader in such a way that it's impossible to stop until all too soon you reach the end. Although this book is part of a wonderful series, the recurring characters are introduced with explanations so that it can be read alone. But, once you have a sample of these characters you'll need to read all the books in the series.

We had been waiting so long for this book boy let me tell you it was so worth the wait!!! I absolutely loved Random and Isabelle's plus I'm a total sucker for second chance at love story they get me every time. Also plenty of action, suspense, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end, but also opens the doors for a new series which I can't wait to see what going to be in store. Overall a fantastic read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Wow just wow. Ransom is totally perfect for Isabella.

My heart is broken that this is the last book in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series.

Ransom and Isabella are two dynamic characters that will make you fall in love with them from the first couple of chapters. And if you happen to be reading it at night well don’t plan on going to sleep till you finish it.

While this is the last of this series I am hoping that Ms. Montgomery will continue on with the MC series. And some of our favorites will make guest appearances.
