Alexis Bright lived a life without regret or shame. Since her husband had left her when her kids were young, it had been just her and them. It was her job to shape them into women who wouldn’t accept less than absolute respect and what they deserved. A chance meeting, a one-night-stand, and she found something she hadn’t known she was looking for. Could freedom be found in being owned and claimed? Alexis was all for finding out.

What an effing awesome book! Having adored this author's book "Little Love," I was excited to see she'd released another. This book did not disappoint. I LOVED the couple: Wall and Alexis are flawed, stubborn, cynical, and unapologetic about the way they live their lives. Their chemistry is off the charts. They are far from perfect-body twenty-somethings and it was so refreshing to have this author celebrate their mature physiques. They give each other hope, and this book gave me hope at a very anxious time. I loved the secondary characters as well and as this is the first book in a series, I'm very much looking forward to the next ones, hoping they follow the extended Family Bright. Highly recommended.
Loved that there was a smexy book where the fmc was older than 20s/30s. Its great to find a book where I can more easiliy relate to the characters and their place in life. And this was a double wow with an older female/ younger male Daddy dynamic. Sooo good. Strong main characters with great friends and family, this book was sooo good! Hopefully, there are more coming!!!
No matter which name they're writing under, I always enjoy this author's stories.
This one had a lot to love about it:
+ A 10 year age gap: she's 50; he's 40. + An over 40 woman whose personality isn't obsessing over carbs or being Sad About Getting Old. Lex is completely comfortable with who she is and owns it. Refreshing. + Likewise, Wall is an asshole and knows it. He doesn't magically change or get fixed by a relationship. Take that, amatanormativity. + Characters with plausible and relatable backgrounds that do not come off as sounding like after school special cautionary tales. + Mother-daughter relationships that are healthy, non-competitive, humorous, and supportive. More of this, please. The romance genres are especially starved for positive and supportive femme relationships of all kinds. + Lots of sex positivity. The only slut-shaming is kink play. + A romance whose end game is not marriage and all the babies. (Subversion of genre tropes in general.)
+/- The sex in this one is pretty brutal and rough—100% consensual and a lot of it. That can go either way depending on your personal preferences.
Oh, he looked like the type to fuck me like he hated me.
Though technically a romance I’d probably classify this as erotica. However, it’s very well done and it’s nice to find this sort of book aimed at a slightly more mature audience. There’s really very little plot and there’s a tonne of hot and steamy times, however, it felt utterly real.
The book is about Alexis who is about to turn 50 years old. She’s hard-working and a successful business owner. She has three fantastic daughters and she likes herself and her life, though she wouldn’t say no to some action in the bedroom. Alexis meets Wall at a nightclub her daughters drag her to. They are instantly attracted to each other but don’t act on it.
Wall owns the nightclub he met Alexis in. He’s 40 years old and is pretty grumpy, but he loves the way Alexis stands up to him and challenges him without complaint.
One of the things I loved about this book was that the characters were flawed and interesting. Wall is huge and hairy and Alexis is overweight, but they like themselves. They don’t worry about the way they appear except to think they like the way the other looks.
These characters are grown-ups. They know what they want in life and are willing to work for it. It’s so nice to see characters who don’t worry about how damaged they are or are trying to figure themselves out. They also have uninhibited and filthy sex. It’s nice to see books that have grown-ups having relationships or just having fun. This book celebrates that life doesn’t end at 35, and I enjoyed reading it.
Its refreshing to read a body positive and sex positive romance. This is an angst free read. Its a romance without the sappy stuff. I loved it. The characters are well developed. The chemistry is through the roof with plenty of snark to fill in the spaces. There is a bit of Daddy kink, but it just makes it better. The wonderful thing is that there is no miscommunication. Both MC's are straight shooters from start to finish.
Very refreshing, body positivity, no shaming, I couldn't put it down... Independent, strong woman who knows what she wants and not afraid or ashamed.... Strong dominant characters, humor, love conquers and all that.... 100% loved it....
As a writer, I firmly believe that reviews are just opinions and those are like (you know whats). There is someone for every book. It is just a matter offending them, which isn't always easy. So I don't want what I might think or say about a book to keep someone from finding their soulbook.
But this one makes me break my rules. Refreshing. Unusual. Fantastic character development. Good pacing. And sex positive. Yes, a mature heroine that is not broken or missing something is unbelievably engaging.
I must be super shallow, but it kinda bothered me that these were ordinary people. I mean, they could have been people I know or, dare I say it, even me! They sounded normal looking. No 6-packs. No beautiful curves. No chiseled bodies. *Sigh* It's almost like normal people exist and we can relate to them.
Gonna go find a shifter romance with hot guys who can carry logs and wake up without bedhead and morning breath.
It’s gonna melt your panties off!!! Siobhan has done it once again...given us a steaming hot couple. I love that Lex is older and is living her life the way she wants. I love that Wall is a Daddy who gives zero f*cks. They come together in a clash of lightning and it just gets stronger through the rest of the book.
The author has created a story worth reading once or twice.
This is Alexis' story how she finds the love she wants after a divorce, and raising her three children and she finds that love with Wall. Wall is an and unexpected surprise to her children and to her.
Enjoy this great story of how to people find love that works for them!
Loved this book. It was such a refreshing read to have a couple that were so unromantically romantic. Probably one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It gets boring reading about all the traditional happy happy relationships. These MCs were down to earth, real with their emotions and attitudes. Couldn’t have asked for a better read.
Just a story about a hardworking chick and the guy that makes her happy
At its most basic this is really just a story about a 50 year old restaurant owner that meets a guy, goes after what she wants, and unexpectedly finds her version of her happily ever after. Great story. Likeable, but crusty characters.
Wall is perfect and mine i licked him he is mine lolol but Wall and Alexis are perfection and its so fun when Wall breaks her in the most delicious ways. Their chemistry is smoking hot between the sheets and the pages wink wink. Siobhan has done it again you will not be disappointed!!!
Rough, tough and bloody he's exactly what flips her trigger even if he is a younger man. He has never wanted a steady relationship so why doesn't he want her to just go?
