LAKE EFFECT (A Jordan Reed Mystery Book #2) by K.C. Gillis is a mystery/thriller mash-up featuring journalist Jordan Reed. I have been looking forward to this addition to the series and I was not disappointed. This is the second book in the series, but it is easily read as a standalone.

Jordan Reed is tired of her celebrity status since her last adventure. All she wants is her much needed week of vacation, but her best-friend Travis

Book 2 and Jordan was back sharpening her claws and using all her skills to expose the people, out to make a quick buck. Author K. C. Gillis had written a solid mystery with extensive detailing of characters and plot lines.

The story was fast paced in most parts with Jordan the famed reporter now moving to Copper Lake to investigate misshapen fish, dumped in the lake. Was it the Lake Effect?

Investigative skills along with great friends made Jordan the ideal reporter. There were times where discre

I thought that this book was excellent!

The plot was excellent, well-paced and full of action. There were unexpected twists and turns to keep me on my toes and I loved guessing where the story was going and how it would end!

The characters were excellent, well developed and I really liked getting to know them too as the book progressed.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, it was well written and a real page turner – very highly

What a fun, mystery filled with a plethora of corruption and underhanded dealings!

Jordan Reed, a Boston Courant reporter, just coming off of a national acclaimed story is looking to relax on her week's vacation...too bad for her another potential story just landed on her lap. Against her need for time off, she heads to Copper Lake, a small western Massachusetts town where hundreds of fish turned up dead, with no immediate cause and no one showing much concern, including the chief of police.

I absolutely loved the first book in the Jordan Reed series, so when asked if I wanted to read the next book I jumped at the chance. Boy am I glad I did. If you haven’t read the first in the series, I highly recommend you do, however it’s not essential, as this book reads as a stand-alone, with a new storyline and plot. I just love seeing the characters develop.

Jordan Read is a reporter for the Boston Courant, since her last big adventure she has spent time giving interviews, although this is no

It was great to be back with Jordan! She’s still living in the fallout from her last big investigation and is looking to have a well earned break…..but things never seem to work out for her! Travis tips her off on something, and despite the fact that she tries to resist….she just can’t! She ends up heading down to Copper Lake to look into the hundreds of dead fish that have turned up, but she gets more than she bargained for. More than just a case of ‘something in the water’ Jordan sets out to u ...more

Will Jordan ever learn to just say no to a potential story? Of course not!
It’s good to be back with our stubborn and determined reporter, however at the beginning I will admit I wasn’t completely sold on the plot. Thankfully after the 25% ish mark I was fully invested.

K.C. Gillis weaves a web of complex story-lines which involve a shady group of characters who are all willing to go to great lengths to achieve their end goal. I always enjoy the political elements at the core of these stories, th

This is the second book in the Jordan Reed Mystery series and follows reporter Jordan as she tries to ignore all the attention her last big story raised. Yet another radio interview has been arranged, due to her article leading to a massive pharmaceutical company being taken down and many of the people involved being brought to task and arrested. Now she is burnt out and looking forward to a short holiday and looking forward to just some down time and no interruptions. Her former boyfriend Travi ...more

I absolutely love gripping mystery novels and 'Lake Effect' is certainly gripping stuff. I read and loved the first book in the Jordan Reed series and when I heard that the author was due to release the next book, I just knew that I had to read the book as soon as I could. I absolutely loved reading 'Lake Effect' but more about that in a bit.
I liked the character of Jordan Reed and I took to her from the start. She is a feisty, strong, determined, no nonsense, inquisitive and kick ass woman. She

This one fit right into what I preferred to read lately so I gobbled it up. Needed also for the time this author transport you into a murder mystery that will keep you on the trail. Go with Jordan as she hunts for the answers. She also will have hurdles to jump and blocks to knock down in this if she is to be successful. With the way it is written you are intertwined from the beginning with needing the answers yourself too. It also fills the need to be spellbound by intrigue as the pages are tur ...more

K.C. (Kevin) Gillis is the author of the Jordan Reed mystery series. Despite being a lifelong lover of stories and books, writing took a distant back seat as his professional career travelled through the Canadian Air Force, a decade as a chemist, followed by a long and continuing run in corporate America. With writing no longer in the back seat (but not quite yet in the front seat), Kevin has the ...more
