This will be my essential oil go-to from now on! There is a plethora of information in this book, all of it extremely helpful and informative. It breaks down how to use essential oils, the top used oils and their benefits/uses, plus TONS of recipes. If you are new to essential oils or looking to learn more, this should be in your toolbox! My thanks to the publisher for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.
This book begins with information about aromatherapy and common essential oils and how to use them safely. The remedies and recipes are divided into sections for Emotional Healing, Physical Healing, and Beauty and Wellness.
I like how it goes in-depth about how essential oils work and how they can promote healing in various areas if used properly. There is also a lot of good advice about how to choose a reliable brand of essential oils, and what different terminology means, and how to properly dilute the oils to be safe for use. There are lists of common essential oils, carrier oils, and hydrosols, and suggested substitutions and uses for each one. There is a wealth of information about each essential oil, including their healing properties, and precautions for safe use.
Each recipe gives a description of the main scent you can expect, either floral, fruit, herbaceous, citrus, wood, spice, or earthy. There are tips for storing the oil blends, and instructions for the safe application for children or if you are pregnant. Some essential oils would be too strong for babies or young children, and there are safer substitutions you can use.
There are recipes for anxiety and depression, for staying focused and alert, for curing allergies, cough, acne, PMS, and headache. There are recipes to boost the immune system, and fight the flu. And there are beauty recipes for homemade shampoos, body lotion, and facials.
This book has so much great information, and is perfect for beginners wanting to learn about essential oils!

I try to stay natural as much as I can and I appreciate a good aromatherapy and Essential Oils book that is concise and comprehensive.
The book starts out giving you some history about aromatherapy and essential oils. There is a good amount of information on the science of it from extraction, how they work, grade, purity, today’s oils, reading labels and what it all means. If your new at this there is information on the terminology and techniques.
There is a whole chapter on safety and improper use. This area has information on pregnancy, seniors, children, babies, and pets. This chapter has information on diluting that includes a dilution chart. There is a comprehensive list of the carrier oils and with suggested substitutes. The recipes are divided into sections: Emotional Healing, Physical Healing, and Beauty and Wellness.

There are tips like storage, what you can swap it with, and other helpful information.
This is an impressive aromatherapy and essential oil book. This would be great for beginners and I think those familiar with oils will learn a thing or two.

I have always been interested in essential oils and holistic healing. I saw this book offered on Netgalley and had to give it a try. I enjoyed the information provided on many essential oils, their uses, the three means of deploying them and the history behind them. This book does not just skim, it provides useful information. I learned so much more than the cursory knowledge I have picked up from other books.
I liked the arrangement of the book, the recipes provided, substitutions incase an oil is not suited to an individual. I also liked how the author pointed out not all essential oils are safe for everyone or your pets. I also found it enlightening to learn there isn’t a certified approver except the USDA for organic oils. I will be looking more deeply at the ingredient labels before my next purchase of essential oils.
I received an advance copy of this e-book and plan on using it as a reference book. Thank-you to the author and Netgalley for offering this book for review. I am not required to leave a positive review.
Firstly, I love the smell of (most) essential oils. Lavender smells heavenly and is so relaxing. Lemon and grapefruit carries fresh aromas that are cleansing and bright.
Secondly, I love history. And this book explains the history of aromatherapy and the science behind it. Fascinating stuff.
And thirdly, learning the holistic healing approaches of aromatherapy is icing on the cake. It isn't just for treating specific problems, but also works as preventatives, maintaining your health, and as a stress reliever, and more.
A valuable tool in healing oils, Aromatherapy and Essential Oils for Healing is organized in an easy to follow way, with wonderful recipes, explanations, and inspirations.

What an awesome essential oil reference! I am "relatively new" to essential oils, having started actively using them over the last 8 months. I found this book so helpful and learned a ton! The bath soak, rollerball, and diffuser recipes will also come in handy for me. I liked how the 15 oils highlighted in this book were detailed and their properties explained. I would highly recommend this book for essential oil users and those interested in aromatherapy. It is well organized, easy to follow, and easy to read... and most importantly- packed full of great information! I will keep this book on hand and be referencing it for sure!
A great reference book for your journey into healing using essential oils. The book is divided into two parts. The first part discusses the basics of using aromatherapy and essential oils. It explains how aromatherapy works and safety when using essential oils. It also lists 20 most versatile oils complete with healing properties, what it can treat, uses, precautions and substitutes. The second part has the 120 remedies (blends) divided into sections for Emotional Healing, Physical Healing and Beauty & Wellness. I particularly liked the page on safe substitutions in the first part. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a very informative book with great chapters. All of the information was divided up in an organized manner. If I had one criticism it would be the need for more pictures.
