Why would a woman, at the height of her career— leave?
The workplace can serve as both a buffer zone and field of landmines for someone in a family caregiver’s state of mind. In Run, Walk, Crawl- A Caregiver Caught Between Generations, Sarahbeth Persiani provides a deeply personal account of what it’s like to live the pressure-cooker lifestyle of working full-time while caring for her family, an elderly parent, and least of all, herself.

Readers trek alongside Sarahbeth during her caregiving years, catching a glimpse into modern day issues of hoarding, opioid addiction, dementia, women’s health, and sibling differences, all while navigating the healthcare system and today’s multi-generational workforce.

By no means prescriptive, but with honesty, humility and a smattering of 1970’s throwback references, this story offers relatable insights into one woman’s transformation with lessons for us all.

A well written account of her experience as a woman with a full-time job trying to care for her husband and elementary age daughter and her aging father. Even if all of these situations don't apply, I recommend this book to anyone who is a caregiver for an aging parent. This is not a how-to manual but I found reading about the shared caregiving experience to be comforting and encouraging.

I enjoyed the authors writing style and found myself unable to put the book down from the preface on. The authors honesty and insights make this a very relatable book. There are so many funny moments and touching memories that I found myself laughing out loud and sometimes crying too. Through this memoir, the author leaves us a lovely tribute to her father as well. A very personal, revealing and sweet testimony to the love of a daughter as she struggles and juggles family, career, and caregiving duties. An excellent read.
