Mostly it was boring.

The last half was much better than the 1st half and is what brought my star rating up.

Deb Cooke’s debut in her new Flat Iron 5 contemporary series is a delight, and a bit naughty romantic comedy. In it she gives readers a fantastic fake date trope staring a closet reading e-rom, nerd girl with some rather wicked fantasies and matches her with a hot, too sexy for his Brooks Brother’s suit wearing vanilla-nice guy. Her dialogue is catchy and fast paced its full of poetry and great quotes and is a love letter to the Manhattan setting in this sexy and

I am not a fan of erotic romances or the modern millionaire-playboy-meets-the-girl romances. I much prefer historical and paranormal romances, so this wasn't my kind of genre. Deborah Cooke asked me to read it so I thought I'd give it a shot. It had its moments. The fake date relationship between Amy and Ty was good and even her curiosity about the BDSM world added some spice, but after her two sessions at the gym, I hoped she would have leaned more towards Ty and not Matteo. I didn't particular ...more

Simply Unbelievable

Even with BDSM this book is unbelievable. This is the first in a series of The FlatIron Five - five friends owning widely successful, businesses together, with Ty being the only partner against them entering a business dealing with fulfilling people images of sex for pleasure. Their business dipped in superficial BDSM.

Ty and Amy agreed to be fake dates because of upcoming weddings in their lives. Ty knew his family would began to try to get him married next and needed Amy as a

Tyler finds himself trapped in a mess of his own making. He solves it by asking out the smart and beautiful Amy. He has wanted to talk to her for a while.

Amy always feels like she is not enough. She has trouble from her past that she hopes to never see again. Will getting involved with Tyler's plan ruin everything?

Loved this story. So excited to read the rest of the series. These characters were so meant to be. I loved the humor, the heat, and the sexy was out of this world hot! I thought is was

Sweet

I enjoyed this book...the chemistry between the main characters was hot...and when Ty became Matteo...hot hot hot! I think that is why Amy fell so hard.

Wow what a great book and start of a series! I am just delighted by Deborah reworking this opening book to her Flatiron 5 series because it's just FABULOUS! Her stories just keep getting better with each release. I can't wait to reread the series. That's saying something as I hardly ever reread anything!

Tyler McKay is in a bind. He needs a date to his sister's wedding and everyone he dates seems to be a golddigger. Then there's his mother who is determined all of her five children have to be mar

JUST ONE FAKE DATE is not the same book as SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE, with a new cover and title. It's a different book, even though the two are linked here as different editions of the same book.

What's the same? The book is still the series starter and the hero, Tyler McKay, is still the finance guy for the fitness club in New York. He's still attending his fourth sister's wedding and his partner Kyle suggests a fake date. In this version, Tyler isn't convinced of that plan—until the heroine shows up

I started skimming at 66% because I got tired of waiting for that other shoe to drop, plus there's more description than I care about. Luckily, I liked how it resolved. I particularly liked who took it the best, and why.

I liked the writer's style, but she needed to work harder to give me a believable plot. That the deception drags on with so much assumption and presumption despite growing feelings? That lessened my respect for both characters, making the whole story less appealing. People do ke

Hard limits

This may contain some spoilers. The writing is good and you're pulled into the story pretty quickly. There is a lot of inner dialogue in the beginning but it wasn't too bad. My problem is the trust that should be there when learning or when you're in a BDSM relationship. When you lie who you are to your partner that ruins everything to me. If you can't trust the person you're with to give you basic information then there's a problem. I've read up to 56% and I don't know if I'll finish

When Tyler McKay notices a woman in the food court where he eats his lunch every day he gives her the name "The Librarian". Amy Thornton had noticed him too. They both were readers, although Amy's taste in books we're hidden behind book covers. He thought it must surely be Jane Austen - so imagine his surprise when he finds out that she reads Erotica.

This story has been in my Ereader TBR pile for awhile now. I finally got around to it this week and am so very glad I didn't put it off any longer. I started it on Monday and finished it on Tuesday after midnight even though work begins at 5:00 am. Yes, you read that right, work begins at 5:00 am and even though I was no where near the end I knew that there was no way I could go to sleep without knowing how it ended.

The relationship between this couple is so lovely, funny and interesting. Though

If their was ever a more perfectly imperfect book boyfriend, Tyler McKay would be it. Looking for a fake date to his sisters upcoming wedding, Ty strikes up a conversation with Amy in the lunchroom of the building where they both work.

From the outside, Amy is described as a librarian. And Ty thinks this will be perfect for him to not fall in love. Who has time for love and commitment? But at the end of lunch Ty learns that Amy’s not reading Austen behind her book covers, she’s read erotic ficti

Still Digesting the Storyline!

I had a hard time rating this book. I grew to love the characters, Amy, the woman who neglects her desires while she is busy helping deal with her parent’s terminal illnesses and ultimate deaths and Ty, the oldest of four siblings and the only brother, who is the protector. It was the storyline that I had trouble. These two pursue honesty in a relationship yet Amy could desire Matteo and pursue him with calls just after been intimate with Ty. Then there is Ty, who h

Simply Irresistible was a truly fun book to read. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Deborah Cooke created characters that you couldn't help but adore. From the moment the two main characters, Tyler and Amy, sat at the lunch table together, the chemistry between them soared. When Amy dropped the book she had been reading, which had been covered to hide the title, and Tyler noticed it was erotica, a huge smile spread across my face.

Yes, there is some BDSM in this book, but it reads very wel

Riddles, Rhymes & Roundabouts

Contemporary Romance that describes a lot of angst, sexual tension, characters lacking confidence and miscommunications for roughly 70% of the book. It was frustrating and I wanted the author to get to the point of the story. Forget about writing in riddles, roundabouts and characters making stupid judgements. Finally, the book comes together, gets interesting and I am getting into the story, but it’s short lived.

The blurb is excellent and hooked me into this book.

Do you know if you like bondage?

Tylor looks like he just walked off the set of a GQ magazine cover photo. It's hard to believe that he is interested in a girl who looks like a librarian. When Ty goes to the cafeteria for lunch he always sees her reading a book. He was going to ask her to be his fake date for the last of his four younger sister's wedding when she gets up to leave and drops her book and he sees that her book is about sex and bondage. This leads to them finding out more about each

There were never two such perfect individuals for each other! They complimented and brought out the differences in such a way that you felt you were in the story.

The best I can say is , THIS IS A MUST READ!
I look forward to the next in the F5 series, but in all honesty, the hero was amazing in the first! After getting a ,just a small one, glimmer of Kyle and Lauren's personalities in the first book, how can Kyle compa

I was already struggling with reading this book, but when it came to hitting the bottoms of her feet, while she is tied up and suspended, her first time doing BDSM with a man whose never done it...

Nope. You don't learn Shibari in one hour and think you can teach what you've never done it. She has some idea what she'd like...he thinks BDSM is some horrible abuse trip.

Not letting any man "dom" me who thinks that way. Know something about the thing you're pretending you're an expert in.

Wonderful story!!

I can't say that I'm surprised by the way the story flowed and followed each character. After all, I have so many novels by Deborah Cooke, just not this genre. I don't normally read contemporary romance; PNR being my drug of choice. But I'm very happy I chose Flatiron Five to be my next series read. The introduction of the other members of F5 was also a nice way of letting readers know what is to come. You can never have too much backstory. From the door, Tyler and Amy just clic

This was a really good book to read, Amy trying to approach what she feels is not acceptable in sexual fantasies pushes herself as research for a book she decides to do. The tension that’s often on between her and Ty is sweet, but once he decides to give her her lesson you know of course things are going to change. And when Amy decide she has to save Mateo things are fixing to get complicated. I liked the book but it was predictable you know that they were both deceiving each other, worried the ...more

Loved Ty!

WOW, Ty is a sweetheart. Certainly not a play boy but definitely not wanting to commit to marriage yet. Amy is adorable, I absolutely loved how they met and I enjoyed reading about their meetings at lunchtime. I did feel like someone needed to shake Amy at times and if a guy was having sex and kissing one woman and phoning to meet another the same night, we'd peg him as a two timer right? We'd hate on him. So I felt Amy's friend needed to shake her a little and point this out to her.

I can't believe how much I liked this book. I'm not normally a BDSM person but this book had a great way of explaining it to the non-BDSM person and it wasn't over the top like some. The reason I couldn't give it 5 because there were situations in the book I struggled with like the cousin and her wedding. I admit there are selfish people in the world but that conflict just seemed forced to me. I really liked both of the main characters and would look into reading the next book in the series. ...more
