This book made me smile. I was especially intrigued when I read at the end that there was a valley fever, a lung infection that was impossible to cure, but that if went away just as mysteriously as it occurred, and that there was a nuclear reactor that was shut down for unusual wear on the tubes inside. Great job building such an awesome story around these facts.

Now, to the story. There were four main characters, and they all had their unique character arc. To keep each character unique is hard

Such a fabulous, whirlwind journey! The author perfectly captured what it would feel like to experience an earthquake, and I actually felt I was there. The characters were so real, I felt like I knew them. I loved everything about this book.the fantastical world, the setting, the romance. And, most definitely the satisfying conclusion. I’ve read a few of CJ Bahr’s books, and she never disappoints.

Amazing!

Bahr is definitely one to watch. I fell instantly in love with Jill and read this tale in two sittings. Bahr has an excellent command of the English Language and plays her words like a fine instrument. I'd recommend this title to anyone!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only in exchange for a review.

This book is well written and hard to put down, with plenty of plot turns, great characters, a dash of romance, a bit of magic, lots of "on the edge of your seat" action and what could quite possibly be the scariest monster I've ever encountered in a book.

I loved everything about this book, I have a new favourite author to add to my list.

A gripping tale of human and fae fighting evil. I couldn't put it down. I loved the unique mix of characters and the amazing story itself. The monsters are fear of the dark itself. I was given this book by the author via Voracious Readers Only. ...more

Valley Fever is a carefully laid out story with sub plots, more and more intrigue, and then when you are caught up in it, the author stirs it up briskly. For those that have been in earthquakes you can imagine and feel the fear and uncertainty in the opening scene as a tremor hits Los Angeles.

The thing about earthquakes, you don't know when they will hit and can't exactly prepare for them. A tornado or hurricane? They forecast the path and you can act on the warning. From that moment of vulnera

Gripping from the first chapter! I wish I could give this book ten stars! As a geology and earthquake nut, Valley Fever hooked me from the beginning and never let go. I am an avid reader of Fantasy and Paranormal genres, so I was pleasantly surprised by its original and a totally new take on the Fey. I recently read this book while on a trip to SoCal, so the theme and timing were appropriate. Sprinkle in some well-developed characters ( Jill, Alden, Thomas, and Kyran), the Fey, the Kolgardi, sus ...more

Good Read

Valley Fever was a real trip. Jill is a strong character. I caught myself holding my breath, reading with 1 eye closed, yelling at her and really pulling for her. Sometimes I felt like I was reading a movie script and could visualize seeing this book as a movie. If you are looking for a book that takes you on a roller coaster ride, this book is for you

Great book! If you’re looking for a well-written, hard-to-put-down fantasy action drama, this books for you! The characters are well done and easy to relate to and feel for, without being over-explained or analyzed. No sex or dirty language either so anybody can enjoy this entertaining book that delves into the fae world!
Great job!

Enjoyed this story!

What a great story in Valley Fever by CJ Bahr. I've read work from Bahr before, and loved the writing and plots. This is a different type of story, but it still enters the realms of the author's imagination, and something happens that brings Jill into a world she never knew existed. Danger, monsters, elves, and a fae-Prince. It's a very interesting journey, and how the regular world of California after an earthquake of horrifying magnitudes, something deep happens. Jill is an

Although it might seem like a little too close to home at the moment in these dark days of 2020 to read a book about a fatal lung infection spreading across LA, in fact, this light fantasy is the perfect antidote to the Quarantine Blues! :D

Anyone who has ever been through an earthquake knows how terrifying they are and yet C.J. Bahr has made it sound so awesome as it sets the book’s heroine off on the adventure of a lifetime. Heck yeah, I’d go through having every glass in my house break all ove

I thought this book was interesting and had some good parts. It was pretty well written and the premise instantly appealed to me. The relationships between characters struck me as a little odd, however, and the plot seemed to veer off on a tangent in parts. Despite this, it was still a perfectly good read and I would not hesitate to read other books from this author again. I found their ideas held merit and will seek out some of their other novels. I received a complimentary copy of the book fro ...more

I was given a free copy of this book and I decided to give it an honest review.
I enjoyed the characters; their use of pop culture references give them more of a sense of being in the real world. The story was well paced, while there was plenty of description it didn't bog down the action. Some things that happened I found somewhat predictable. But there were a few surprises I didn't see coming. My biggest complaint is that the Fae seemed to human. I like the Fae to be more inexplicable and magic

What a amazing book! It's a page turner, Fantastically written blending suspense, fantasy, touches of angst relieving humor, Valley Fever is one book you don't want to miss or put down. The characters were so rich and rounded, easy to relate to and I found myself anxious to find out what would happen. The setting was well described, the science background added a nice touch and the cultural references made it seem so real and make it easy to wrap yourself into the story. With a compassionate sto ...more
