And the craziness continues.....

Maze breaks the ultimate rule of psychics and tells about his vision. They do what they have to do to keep Penndolyn from being killed by the interim council, but it sets off a whole mess of events. Now, they have figured out that not only is someone impersonating Damiel, but also Logan (one of the heirs), and holding the real Logan as a prisoner. Maze is constantly getting another vision, but since his soulmate is still unconscious he can't seem to get his visions to act right. They come to the conclusion they need the Fallen to help them figure out what took Logan. They manage to find them and get some answers, but of course, they can only tell them a certain amount of information and can't do anything more. They find out a wall that was put around Earth to keep out supernaturals from other realms has been fractured. Now, not only to they have to travel to another realm, but also figure out how to fix the wall. Beck, Astrid, Ashryn, and Nova have to travel to Ashryn's homeland to find a tracker and have 3 days to get Logan from the Unseelie realm before the others resurrect the wall. Maze has to take care of Tilly, since he decided to do whatever it took to get her to wake up. She is now a demon and acting like a cat thanks to Maze and Odin's idea of how to save her from dying in the first place. So, he has his hands full with that. Ophelia and Cross stick around to help him out with Tilly, while Zinnia and the queens that are left along with the guardians and Penndolyn go to try and figure out how to put the wall back in place. While all this is going down Warwick is attacked and Corvin, Beck's dad, has convinced the warlocks the witches are who attacked and now they're heading to Evermore to attack them. Tilly runs off and Maze has to leave her in order to go help Evermore. The others find the tracker who is Ashryn's brother and get into the Unseelie realm, but it messes with Beck and taps into his dark side. He embraces it. They ultimately manage to get Logan free, but can't get out of the realm so they have to come up with another plan, and with no other options, Nova comes up with them all dying and going to Hades in order to get back to Earth. While they're doing that and Maze, Ophelia, and Cross are helping Evermore, Tilly has found herself in Salem and attacked a girl. The Fallen show up to take care of the problem only to figure out they have another.

Not sure how in the world I'm going to wait until June for the next book!!! I am so invested in this series and need to know everyone comes out on the other side okay. Gah my nerves!!!! lol

2.5 ⭐
Book #4 of 5

🆗⬇️ Warlocks (also witches, fallen angels, gods, demons,...)
⬇️ Academy: 5 houses
⬇️ Heirs of the houses
⬇️ Unknown heritage/powers
❌ Instinctively super powerful with no training nor struggle
⬇️ Introduction to new world
⬇️ Mission & prove their worth
❌ Immature characters
❌ Girl drama
❌ Unneeded drama from lack of communication and stubbornness, jealousy, plain stupidity
⬇️❌ Unrealistic behaviour
⬇️❌ Mentions a lot of characters from different series: it gets confusing at times
⬇️ Several POVs: mainly Astrid and Beckett

***

One of their own has been taken from them.

The heirs will stop at nothing until they get their family together once again.

Firstly, they have to discover what they are up against.

And when the heirs, their friends, the witch queens and their guards seem to be unable to identify the threat, they will have to ask for help.

The fallen.
The angels are forbidden from interfering.
But they can nudge. Just a little.

And the truth is scary.

The fate of the world is at risk.

And to save it and their missing member, the group will have to split.

***

Notes:

🔸 Too easy

In spite of all the dramatics, everything is too easy.
The supposed problems, the plot, are resolved very easily, with no preparation, major difficulties, almost by chance and on the first try and without mistakes.
The difficulties they mostly face are fruits of their own immaturity and lack of sight.

🔸 Immature characters & behaviour

These teenagers are supposed to be the rulers, responsible and savvy, powerful and knowledgeable, able to lead their people.

Instead they are unable of compromise, communication and empathy. They constantly choose to keep doing immature, hurtful things and act like spoiled children. They make stupid mistakes and then feel sorry for themselves instead of learning and asking for help or seeking advice.

🔸Warlocks & Academy

Basically, the academy is just the place where their home is.
No classes are seen.
Astrid doesn't seem to need them anyway, even though she is supposed to have to graduate...

🔸Lack of foundations and proper explanations

- is the whole Warlock society based at the Academy? The seat of power? Their source of power? Their laws and rulings?
Where are all the adults? Do they have jobs? Or are they all hiding amongst humans?
Are the heirs always without protection, no guards? Shouldn't that put them at risk? Easy to eliminate then?

- difference between species and their powers

- limits of their powers: it does seem like they can do the same things sometimes

- inconsistent behaviour: sometimes they can do some things other times they can't, sometimes they are the one more powerful but then they are not.

- everyone keeps saying Astrid has to learn and train but they constantly keep her from going to class and never teach/help her

- lot of characters, some from different series: gets confusing

- Maze going to his family for nothing & for someone who knows how powerful his magic is and works, seems to forget it

- Penny: isn't she supposed to be all that powerful? So why doesn't she help the heirs? If she wants her place as ruler, why not take charge or a more active participation?

Overall, a bunch of immature reactions to things and a lot of lack of communication.
Some things are not properly explained which leads to confusion and a messy story.

I lost the will to continue reading this series.
It doesn't seem to improve.
Instead it appears to become more erratic.
It is not that it is a horrible story or incredibly badly written.
It is just average and immature.
It is an easy read without angst and soul wrecking drama.
Not my favourite writing style and the plot and character development seem to be lacking depth for me.
I need something else to read, at least for the moment.

As always my complete respect for the author and their work.

When it comes to the Wicked Royals series, I have always had a love for the various worlds within the universe. This book has expanded on it to a point that it is truly a tale that surrounds you and you can find an element of it wherever you are in the real world. I honestly believe this is my favorite book in Megan Monteros entire series.
I am rather new to Megan Monteros books, having read them for the first time only a few months ago, but in that time I have grown close to these characters and seen their progression. The characters are all individually unique and that is something that to me speaks volumes on an authors talent. Megan Montero has a way with words that brings you into the story in a way that you don’t even realize you have been sucked in until the unfortunate ending and you wake up, realizing it was all just a movie in your head. This book takes it to a new level. The reader is immediately hit with the action that we left off with the last book, and from then on something is always happening. There are no “filler” chapters I would say, which personally I find a wonderful thing as the consistent movement of the story keeps the reader engaged and in the moment, never wanting to leave.
There are very few series out there I consistently keep up with, and this is one of them. A story full of originality, character, and adventures, you will never want to leave.

Wicked Curse (The Royals: Warlock Court Book 4)

Wicked Curse (The Royals: Warlock Court Book 4) ~~ This book was pure fire. Astrid is rising like the queen she was meant to be, and her magic? Insanely powerful—but also dangerously unstable. The curse looming over her and Beckett is finally explained, and it adds so much emotional weight to their bond. Every moment between them felt urgent and desperate—and I loved every second of it.

Maze’s storyline took me by surprise in this one, and I adored his growth. The loyalty among the heirs is tested like never before, and the power plays inside the Court are downright brutal.

This is the book where Astrid becomes something more than just a chosen heir—she becomes a leader.  I absolutely loved this book and this series!! ❤️🔥🖤

The story picks up right after the last. They have to figure out what has Logan, how to get him back. They believe it is a demon. They will need help from others. Maze is not himself due to the situation with Tilly. The Heirs and the Queens learned some hard truths of why they have to work together. They will divide into teams to go get Logan.

This a just a brief summary of what happens in the book. The book in non stop with everything that goes on for these characters. You will start reading this book and will not be able to stop. This author knows how to draw you in and not release you until you get to the end. You will want more as soon as your done. You will really enjoy reading this book

This book is so nice, and I am so excited for The Wicked Warlock to come out, because I am dying to know what will happen next, @meganmontero thank you so much for the effort you put in these books, I am forever grateful for everything, I read every single one of your books, (including your co-write with Chandelle LaVoun) and they are all awesome, amazing, wonderful! The Wicked Curse has too much twists and turns, and the book made me confused, so I am impatiently waiting, but there is still about one month to go for Wicked Warlock to come out, but I know it will be absolutely worth the wait. 💗

So much action, excitement, suspense, magic and lastly dred. This book was packed full of action. The Council makes its move on the warlock heirs, I'll just say Ophelia is pissed about it. You know the council is going to get it now. You don't mess with Ophelia! Tilly is still a puzzle their trying to solve and fix. Logan is trapped somewhere and the only people who know where won't say. You get to meet some new fallen angels in this one. I really love Collias. He's all for breaking the rules & helping the warlocks out. There are a few other

This one is literally one "hell" of a ride.

Beckett and Astrid have finally reached a good place until they have to rescue Logan from demons. Maze can't do anything well due to distraction from his bond with Tilly. The heirs have one chance to save the world along with the witch queens. Astrid has her powers mostly under control and recovering from being dead. I love that we get to see Medusa and there may be love in her future. This is an outstanding series and every book is outstanding!

I've read every book by Megan Montero and she never disappoints. I'll try not to give too much away but OMG! 😲
What a cliffhanger! Astrid & Beck are one of my favourite book couples. I managed to finish the book in one day it's that amazing. I was gutted that certain characters died (not saying any names. Don't want to spoil it.) and I hope that they come back in some way. Can't wait to read book 5. Counting down the days until it comes out, think I'll be spending another all nighter to read it.

Holy Cliffhangers! (Yes, more than 1)

When the action picks up in this book it will have you on the edge of your seat! So many storylines set up for an epic conclusion in book 5. Will Maze get Tilly back? What the hell is up with Beckett? Witches and Warlocks oh my!

Astrid is badass as ever. O is her great stabby self. The Heirs, Queens, and Guardians have a lot to handle in dealing with the coming threat.

I can't wait to see how things progress in the next book.

The story that unfolded in this book was crazy!
First, I loved seeing Beckett & Astrid being knowingly in love with one another! The way they had each other’s back & share private moments was great! Second, Maze might be my new favorite character! His equal amounts of faith & doubt in his decisions with Tilly tore my heart. The things we’ve learned about Evermore, the Fallen, & what might be coming was absolutely amazing! I cannot wait until the next book

More please

Wicked Curse picks up without missing a beat, and hold on to your hats boys and girls because once you start reading this you are in for a ride.
Megan has a way of making you forget that you are reading a story, and makes you feel like you are right there with them. And this one has so much going on that you feel like if you put it down they are going to do something without you.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this book

I have loved reading this series, Astrid is a real spit fire, she has really come along way. I do have to say this was the slowest book of the series and there are two grammar errors, there are literally two wrong words in a published book I am amazed those errors made it to print. I had to re-read both sections a couple of times to make sense of what I was reading because of the words were wrong. Someone should’ve caught those errors!

WTF?!?!

I really thought this was the finale! I was just reading along so into the story la-di-da and BOOM! It’s over! It was soooo good! I cannot wait for the next installment! Megan has a way of sucking you into her stories and keeping you on your toes! This story was incredible and fast-paced! But as noted it definitely ends in a cliffhanger!

Somehow I missed out on my ARC for this book, so when I saw the next book was ready for release I bought this one, over my budget for books, but I couldn’t miss out reading it and I wasn’t disappointed. The characters are developing so much and we learn more about their fates. This book is very fast paced I was at the end before I knew it, and what an ending left me up in the air.

Meh

Didn't enjoy this book as much as earlier books in the series. It's been long enough between books for me to forget why I liked the characters. It was all very angsty, but I guess it is a fourth book in the series. Read them closer together would be my advice.

Astrid has really grown since her first book. She has gone from an immature sort of whiny person to a true queen and someone who thinks of others before herself. This book also has plenty of action and the two courts finally coming together.

I am totally loving this series. Astrid is totally badass but I’m not sure Beckett needs to be in hell we need them all home and hun back to normal. I gave my fingers crossed that they win this fight.
