"I'm not letting you go. I hope you know that."

"I throbbed for her, hurting to join the song. After all, it was a duet. A sweaty duet."Told in multiple POV, Surrender is a fun and flirty read full of witty dialogue and expert character development. The dynamics between Drew and Bronte are quite extreme and yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the way in which they fit together so perfectly. The family element is strong in this read and paired with the fast and furious rock lifestyle, you get the best of both worlds! After devouring all of Drew and Bronte, I would not hesitate to explore more of this series!
"I never imagined a single kiss could alter the way you saw the world, but somehow, she'd just done that."Overall, Rachel Van Dyken is an expert storyteller who creates exquisite text that paints a vivid picture of the setting. Additionally, the characters draw you in and don’t let you go! The band aspect in this read was well placed as the shenanigans of the band only enhanced the story more and added a nice ensemble element to the read. This book would appeal to rock romance fans! Van Dyken is one of my favorite paranormal authors and now I am excited to explore more.

Maybe it wasn’t about fixing what was broken and then handing it over; maybe it was about merging our pieces into one.
“One step at a time. The only thing that happens when you stand still is that the world keeps on spinning, sweetheart.” ~ Drew to Amelia
“I could spend the rest of my life staring at you and still see something new across your face. I will be fascinated by you until the day I die.” ~Drew to Bronte
“You’re breathtaking.” I leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her lips. “Devastatingly gorgeous.” Another kiss to the side of her mouth. “My tongue’s favorite taste.” ~Drew to Bronte
“You’re my favorite song because everything you do is like music.” ~ Drew to Bronte

"I never imagined a single kiss could alter the way you saw the world, but somehow, she'd just done that."

↠ Questionable cover:
(1) Tattooed model? yes! fitting & not bad for the cover.
(2) The model's hair? disastrous. Honestly, it looks like Jimmy Neutron.![]()
I rest my case.
↠ Faulty plot: Has a huge pitfall
↠ OTT drama: not interesting and causes headaches
↠ Childish/cringe-worthy dialogue: Soooo many in this book
↪ Drew Amhurst (H) has made it his mission to have Bronte Connors (h) live again. Unfortunately, Bronte had to grow up fast as she got pregnant in high school and the bastard of a baby daddy was a cheater and never invested. They have one week together to enjoy each other in lighthearted fun. But they end up hooking up eventually during this week and that bliss turns to eternal love of course, it does *forever eye rolling*
⇒ 36-years-old, front man for Adrenaline, in recovery from drug addiction, mentor to Braden
⇒ As a main H, he is immature and a lot of his backstory is only at surface level. It is stated repetitively he is "broken" but it never goes into his backstory on why just that he got his heartbroken by his band mate's current wife.
⇒ Skye side plot: added for force drama and I honestly forgot about it until it was brought up
⇒ 39-years-old, mother of three, divorced, shy, settled with what her life became
⇒ Her biggest character arc was to have sex after 14 years. Holy moly batman that is a long time and more power to her... The thing is she is written in a way of the "shy virgin" as she blushes at everything and cannot even say the word 'dick.' This annoyed me a lot
⤑ Celebrity crush // Bronte had a crush on Drew when she was a teenager, totally unrequited & she kinda out grew it."Drew Amhurst, the Drew Amhurst, the guy who I’d obsessed over during high school, the guy whose face had been on my teenage walls more times than I could count."
This was not developed bad as Drew always poked fun at Bronte for it, especially, when he saw her old yearbook. SO, overall I liked this development and thought it was fun
⤑ Forced proximity: Drew moves in with Bronte to help her get her groove back. It was unwanted for Bronte but over time she was okay with it because she has a strong attraction to him and he is really good with her daughter. I think this was developed OK.
⤑ Faulty Plot: Braden (Bronte's son) was made to be an only child and half the time it seems that way. In Provoke, there was no mention of siblings it can be assumed that it was just him and his mom... that and his dad walked out early on him and Bronte. Now we find out, he has two other siblings and one sibling might have cancer again.
Like thanks for the shock value? I felt the whole Amelia side plot was added for a shock value for a "tear jerking" effect.
⤑ CRINGE WORTHY MOMENTS
《1》 When changing a song:“Made a new verse in my head, artists do that. It’s a thing, promise. I also added a blow job, seven sexual positions of my choosing, ten minutes where I get to just stare at you naked, and seventeen orgasms throughout a twenty-four-hour period.”
That's rather ambitious...
《2》 Convincing Bronte to take a bath:“I’m going to march into that living room and announce to Amelia in front of all her friends that I’ve seen her mom naked, and she touched my dick.”
This was so childish that literally my head hurts thinking of this scene
