Madeleine Hayes was dragged away from her quiet British life when she was just a teenager. As much as she loved Sunnyville, California, something stopped her from ever feeling at home there and twelve years later, following her father's death, she has questions. With nothing left to lose, Maddie returns to her home town to dig into the events that sent her family fleeing for their lives all those years ago.

Kaden Kemp's life was torn apart the night he witnessed his father's murder. A corrupt police force ensured no one paid for the crime but he always knew exactly who was responsible. With no choice but to get on with his life, he thinks the events of that night are behind him, until the killer's daughter returns to Frost Ford. Kaden is determined to finally get justice. If he can keep his hands off her, that is.

The spark between them is undeniable as sworn enemies are forced to work together to uncover a deadly secret.

Will they survive?

Emma had a dream. It took a long time to realise that dream.

When it finally happened, it came via a career as a pre-school teacher, becoming a Mum of three, and 15 years as an army wife, following her husband from posting to posting across the UK and Europe while he served his country. She and her family have now left the army bubble and split their time between the UK and Spain.

In between masquerading as a domestic goddess and drinking gallons of sangria in the name of staying cool she has, at last, sat down and listened to the voices in her head.

Emma writes strong female leads who enjoy running in circles around the men who turn to mush for them. Her books can be dark and twisty, with bloodshed before the happy ever after, but she’ll get you there. Eventually.

Another amazing book by this author. The writing is so fluid, the story so perfect. Emma Jayne Mills is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Maddie and Kaden’s story just grabbed me from the very first sentence. And it made me keep on reading even though it was late into the night. I just can not wait to see what comes next. Strongly recommend this book to everyone who likes a good murder mystery, an enemy to lovers story, very likeable characters (except for the baddies) and perfect telling of a tale. I honestly love Emma Jayne Mills writing style.

This book is amazing, I couldn’t put it down and it occupied most of my day but in the best way. I was lucky to be chosen to read this as an ARC. There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming and the heat between the main characters was more than what I expected. Kaden and Maddie are amazing together and I loved their ‘you’re my nothing’ relationship. This is a standalone book, but it was nice to get glimpses of previous book characters from Frost Ford. This is definitely worth the time and you won’t be disappointed.

Shadow provides everything and more that you would expect from a story written by Emma Jayne Mills and set in Frost Ford.

Intrigue, dark storyline, and not knowing what is coming next, or who to trust. In other words its an amazing story and so worth the read.

The connection between Kaden and Maddie is deep and dark.

Who needs sleep when you have a fantastic read that you can’t put down? I knew going on I would be up all night reading and it was so worth it. Shadow is perfect for this series and I loved the trip to Frost Ford. It’s a wonderful blend of two worlds mixed with romantic suspense and mystery. Just when you think you have it figured out, there’s a curve and you get even more involved. One of my favorites of the series and by this author so make sure you grab it!!!

Thriller with a side of love

Kaden couldn’t believe she was back, Madeleine Hayes lied to protect her father years ago, when he killed Kaden’s dad. Now, she was back in town like if it didn’t happen and she didn’t know who he was. He would make her pay, but first he would make her fall for him. Madeleine had the same plan, but who would fall first and with a killer on the loose, who would live to finish their plan?

Wow! This was my first read by this author and I was blown away. This has mystery, suspense, some angst, and some really amazing chemistry. The story grabbed me from the beginning and hooked me because I also needed to know the secrets. The back and forth and anticipation had me unable to blink.

I loved everything about this book; The mystery to solve, the relationship between the main characters, the writing style, the beginning, the middle and the end!! All of it. I read the majority in one day, blitzing through in my own reading bubble.

I love this authors style and this one was no different. So relatable but also really hooky and exciting to read.

I would 100% recommend, you don’t need to have read the previous books in this series to read this, it works perfectly well as a standalone.

Emma Jayne Mills the author, is a talented witch who will cast a spell on you; which will make you pick up her books to begin to read them and not be able to put them down.

Maddie & Kaden are chips off of exceptionally similar blocks, both detesting each other because of a misconception.

Maddie returns to Frost Ford to tidy up her Father’s estate, her return reunites her with memories she had suppressed. Her return also reignites a spark in Kaden, who epitomises the thin line between love & hate for Maddie. When more murders are committed, linking the two even more, Maddie goes into full blown Miss Marple mode in the hope of getting answers.

My favourite line: His arms were my security, his smiles my light and his darkness mine to share.

Read it and see for yourself

If you have read any of Emma’s other books, you understand the magic that is Frost Ford. Shadow brings us back home with Kaden and Maddie and I could not be more excited! Emma does a masterful job of suspense and keeping you guessing while creating another beautiful love story. She writes female characters you want as your best friend and men you want to fight a battle for you and with you. You do not need to read the other books by her, or the other books in the KB world, first to enjoy Shadow. I know that you will be hooked and need more though!

Bloody loved this!
It was nice to see some familiar characters, in a familiar town with a completely new set of characters and a new twist to boot. Even if I’d not heard of Frost Ford; Shadow made it all new anyway. Struggled so much to put this down every free second I had I was reading. I’m only sorry I’ve finished it now.

Welllllll what can I say! It’s 2:12 am and I’m still up because someone had to go and write a book that I could NOT put down!

I’m lucky enough to have been chosen to read an ARC copy of Shadow and all I can say is OMG captivating! Once again it was the end of the book before I figured the villain out actually just right before it was revealed! I love love love Kaden snd Maddie! I love Frost Ford and the characters who live there but I’d be scared to go there lol. There are some evil folks lurking!!!!!!

This is a must read book! Grab your copy! You will be glad you did! I’m off to grab a few hours sleep now!

Another great addition to the KB World. Maddie returns back home to Ford Frost after the death of her father to settle his estate and to investigate because she believes he was murdered. Kaden and Maddie are enemies because when they were young Kaden accused Maddie's father of killing his dad and she testified against him. Even though they hate each other there is a chemistry between the two. Entertaining story. Not only do you get these two and their relationship, Maddie teams up with her police stations detective to try to track a murderer, A stalker trying to get Maddie to leave. This story is full of twists, lies, corruption and a bit of steam thrown in. Loved it can't wait to read more from this author.

I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review!

There's something about Emma Jayne Mills world of Frost Ford characters that I just can't put my finger on...they're all just this side of insane, but that's why we love them! I can't get enough of her twists and turns! I've said it before and I'll say it again, she's got the ability to write a thriller on lock!! Emma Jayne Mills is the master of deception. Just when you think you know something, BAM!! You just can't trust anybody these days...5 stars and 2 thumbs way up. I can't wait for more of these dark shadowy twists, Emma!! I loved it!!
