The Seaside Saga #11

Salt Air Secrets

Rate this book
New York Times bestselling author Joanne DeMaio returns to The Seaside Saga and her New England beach town, where secrets carry on salt air breezes.

It's been a long, hot summer in Stony Point. As temperatures rise on the Connecticut coast, so do the secrets. Everyone's got one. Jason and Maris, Celia and lobsterman Shane, the beach commissioner, and especially innkeeper Elsa. With the passing summer days, each secret--sad, shocking, and sweet--unfurls like a breaking wave.

Can you keep the beach friends' Salt Air Secrets? Just turn beneath the stone railroad trestle, walk past the shingled cottages, and hear the whispering marsh grasses. In this novel, rumors are likely to drift your way on that salt-soaked air by the sea.

Joanne DeMaio is a truly gifted author with the talent to make you feel as though you are actually there. You can smell that salt air as you drive under that trestle bridge that plays a pivotal point in this Seaside Saga.Oh,but the secrets that salt air holds! Each sequel is as compelling as the previous one.The beach gang feels like family with their daily life’s trials, challenges and gatherings. Will Jason and Maris reconcile? Will Celia and Shane weather the storm and become a couple?Elsa- what is her life changing secret?Which suitor will Elsa decide on?So many secrets revealed ,but the teaser of so many more! This sequel was especially special to me as references to Maine ,my home state.Once you start reading it will be hard to stop until you finish! Now the wait for Stony Point Summer !

Every time I pick up the next book in the Seaside Saga, I get a feeling of excitement as well as a feeling of home. With each installment, I feel closer to the people in these stories, Jason, Maris, Elsa, and my new favorite couple, Celia and Shane. It truly feels like spending time with friends, walking along the beach with them, hanging out at the diner, sitting on the boardwalk, even driving under that old trestle bridge. It's the end of the summer in this book, but the hot weather is sticking around, as well as the problems that have torn apart our friends. The characters in this book are flawed and wonderful, hurt and healing, and the story flows as I'm compelled to see what happens NEXT!! I hope I will not have to wait too long for the next book!

What can I say? I absolutely love this Seaside Saga series and I love it when I get to take a trip back to Stony Point and visit the whole gang again.

Salt Air Secrets delivers just what this title indicates—the story is full of secrets. Everyone has a secret that they tell someone else and then they ask them to keep it. So many secrets. But I was left with the thought that, in that close-knit, caring community, how safe are those secrets? People care too much not to get involved and draw their friends in to help.

But by the end of the book, there were still so many secrets being held close to the vest, with one of them being a big one that no one knows.... yet. I can't wait for the next book to find out what it is and to find out how everyone's complicated lives unfold.

Seriously, if you haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for? You will love Stony Point and all of the wonderful friends who are such an important part of this community. I can't recommend it enough!

Another awesome book by Joanne DeMaio. I always look forward to spending time with my beach friends in Stony Point. I really enjoy that Shane is back in this book. I think it is great that is able to reconnect with his brother Kyle and they can put the past behind them.

As with any family and friends they all have their little secrets that they don't want to share with anyone. Some of their secrets came out in the book but some did not. I really can't believe that I thought we were finally going to find out Elsa's secret at the last minute and then there it was, the cliff hanger that is going to make it so hard to wait for the next book.

Mrs. DeMaio's books are the kind of books that no matter what you are in the middle of doing when one comes out it takes top priority over most anything else. Thank you for letting me share some time with the whole gang at Stony Point.

Wow I am just in awe by this great continuing story from the Seaside Saga. Kudos to Joanne DeMaio for making her readers feel right at home with the beach friends of Stony Point (Long Island Sound). My jaw hit the floor as secrets from the past and present were revealed, new romances blossomed, relationships were tested, and so on. I definitely recommend the Seaside Saga to all the readers out there.

In Salt Air Secrets, the beach friends' story continues where Every Summer, left off. Author Joanne DeMaio transports the reader back to the tranquil seashore town of Stony Point, Connecticut, where the summer season is coming to a close. The story picks up in the the last week of August, where relationship issues and long-held secrets will change the lives of friends: Maris, Jason, Eva, Matt, Kyle, Lauren, Elsa, Cliff, Nick, Paige, Vinny, Celia, and Shane.

In Salt Air Secrets, Author Joanne DeMaio easily captivates her readers' attention with this beautifully written tale through a seamless and flowing storyline, and with a wonderful description of a tranquil beach setting that wraps itself around the reader like a sun-warmed beach towel. The characters draw you into their lives with a strong emotional pull, their complexities and flaws are true-to-life, it is easy to relate to them with compassion, empathy, and hope.

The close of the summer season will take the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride as the beach friends deal with a variety of secrets that seems to float in the salt air. With so much upheaval and changes this summer, can the old adage: as time heals all wounds, so does the sea air, help this group of friends continue to live by the credo: "salt air, not a care" and "cast away your troubles straight into the sea?"

The shimmering denim blue sea with its calming effect will offer them another end of the summer season of hope, love, family, friendship, heartache, mistakes, forgiveness, redemption, and blissful new beginnings. But alas, mistakes, secrets, past painful issues, and yet another surprising cliffhanger will leave the reader impatiently waiting to read more in Stony Point Summer, the next installment in The Seaside Saga Series.

Salt Air Secrets is an intricate story of interweaving friendships, life events, and deeply held secrets and drama. It is a wonderful story that continues to demonstrate the power of the magical sweet salt air that will cure what ails you. This installment in The Seaside Saga Series held so much angst, you can't help but feel the full gamut of emotions as each of the beach friends deal with their secrets, while the martial troubles continues to plague Maris and Jason; but wait ... the author decides to tease her readers even more with Elsa receiving a certified letter just a few days away from the grand opening of her Ocean Star Inn, and she decides to keep the contents of the letter a secret, that is until the last sentence of the story when of course she whispers her secret into Maris' ear, but leaves us with another cliffhanger ending ... sigh.

So now that I have whet your interest in the beach friends latest comings and goings, drive under the railroad trestle and enter the enchanting beach town of Stony Point ... pull up a beach chair ... and visit with the close-knit longtime friends in author Joanne DeMaio's delightful novel, Salt Air Secrets.

The Seaside Saga Series is a heartwarming series of stories of friendship, family, painful secrets, new beginnings and second chances. Author Joanne DeMaio weaves a wonderful tale written in the third person narrative, that is set in the present with flashbacks to the past. The reader is transported to the tranquil seashore town of Stony Point, Connecticut, where they follow along with Celia, Maris, Eva, Matt, Jason, Kyle, Lauren, Nick, Elsa, Cliff, and Shane as their lives change like the tide's ebb and flow on their little tranquil coastal town.

Love this book series

I love all of the books Joanne writes but the sea side saga is my favorite! Joanne has a way of making you feel like you are right there with the characters - going through everything they are - all the good and the not so good. So looking forward to book 12 and can’t wait to see what Elsa’s secret is. Everyone should read these books. You won’t be disappointed!

Salt Air Secrets by Joanne DeMaio
Book starts out with authors other works, dedication, table of contents and the story.
So much of the past never heard before is brought up to the beach gang and they know 15 years is a lot of hurt and pain. Lots of happy good times also.
Everybody else has their own secrets as well and the 10 year anniversary of Neil dying and Sal just a year ago has brought upheaval to the community.
New romances are about as some struggle to keep who they have.
Learned so many more new things in this book about the gang but it can be read as a stand alone. Love hearing of design, architecture and lobster fishing techniques.
Next book in the series is mentioned and I can't wait to read that one.
Received this review copy from the publicist via the author and this is my honest opinion.

Salt Air Secrets leaves us dangling with another cliffhanger. Last book was Shane and Celia and this book...well I won’t say as it would be a spoiler. Suffice it to say...it will leave you saying “wait...what...I Want to know the secret!”. Fun story, as always. I will have to wait for Stony Point Summer; the next installment.

Salt Air Secrets is book #11 in Joanne DeMaio’s seaside saga. The title couldn’t be more perfect for this chapter of the story as it seems so many of the beach residents are keeping secrets. What I really enjoyed about this particular book was that it told little snippets about every character so it’s like it brought me up to speed on everyone’s life. From little things like hearing about Taylor failing her road test to Elsa going on “business” dates with Mitch Fenwick, it makes you feel a connection to all the characters, almost as if you’re a member of this beach community. I’m really looking forward to reading about this romance between Shane and Celia and seeing if anything becomes of it. As for the ending, well the author has done it again! She’s left me hanging and now I have to wait patiently to find out what exactly this big secret is that Elsa is keeping. I know it doesn’t sound good! Oh, and I have to admit, this particular books ending really got to my emotions as it left me teary eyed just waiting for what Maris was about to hear. This is a series I have grown to love and highly recommend. The characters are so real and lifelike and the setting couldn’t be more perfect. What’s not to love? I’d like to thank Joanne DeMaio for writing this series. It gives me a beautiful escape.

SALT AIR SECRETS (Seaside Saga #11)
Author: JoAnne DeMaio

*****Five Stars*****

JoAnne DeMaio excels at creating a charming seaside beach town with amazing, wonderful characters that have left footprints on my heart. I can never wait for the next book to be released so I can catch up on their lives. They have become friends in a sense. Each book flows effortlessly and you feel like you have arrived back home amongst friends.

As you drive under the railroad trestle and enter Stony Point, you can begin to smell the salty air and get the feeling of peace. I assure you that you will never want to leave.

SALT AIR SECRETS raises the bar. In true fashion, the group of close-knit friends are there to support each other – in good times and bad. There are secrets that threaten to destroy friendships and marriages. However, sometimes secrets are not what they seem when they are finally revealed. They just need to be exposed and worked through.

I loved this book and the stories that unfold – right to the huge cliffhanger.

Now, I am anxiously waiting for the next release!

This summer feels different at Stony Point Beach.
It is almost as if there is something in the salt air that has brought the winds of restlessness and secrets to Stony Point.
Secrets are kept and relationships are strained in the continuing heat of summer. Elsa, Celia, Shane, Jason, Maris and Cliff each has a secret.
Hopefully, when their secrets are finally shared they will bring the friends even closer together.
The author, Joanne DeMaio, has shared her secret that she is writing another book in this seaside saga and we can only hope that it will be released soon.

Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed this next book the Seaside Saga series. When you open each book in this series, it's like getting caught on family. Each of the beach friends has a secret, some more serious than others. How will it affect their relationships? Where will these secrets take them? I highly recommend this book and all the books in the series. I suggest you begin with the first book, Blue Jeans and Coffee Beans, so that you can meet each character and really get to know them. It's summer time and a perfect time to get to know the characters of the Seaside Saga.

Salt Water Secrets as with all the books in Joanne DeMaio's Seaside Saga series takes you immediately back to the beach neighborhood of Stony Point. Again it's as if it is you being calmed by the salt air and mesmerized by the ocean stars twinkling in the sunshine. A place where lifelong friends have reconnected. We catch glimpses of their past memories as well as all that is currently happening. And oh the secrets that are revealed...some bringing closure and others new worries. Another page turner that has left me eagerly awaiting the next book in this wonderful series!

OMG! I am totally sucked in to these Seaside Saga novels. To me, the sea is indeed the great cure for whatever ails a soul. I have read three of these books (9, 10, and 11) in less than a week. These characters in this coastal New England town are my new best friends! I'm totally involved in their lives. The bookstore doesn't carry this series. I hope to get the next book from the library before I leave for vacation. I'm feeling like this is my new obsession, similar to the earlier seasons of Gray's Anatomy.

Reading the wonderful seaside stories by Joanne DeMaio is just like being right there, home again with everyone in Stony Point. Each book reminds me of ocean stars, sunshine jars, the Dockside Diner, delicious meals and the beautiful walks along the sandy shores. I love the characters, Elsa, Eva, Maris, Jason, Kyle, Lauren, Celia, Shane and so many more. The memories of Sal and Neil. Their loves, their lives, their trials and secrets always keep me wondering what will happen next and anxiously waiting for the next Stony Point saga. What is the secret that Elsa is sharing with Maris? I can hardly wait for the next book in this series...every one leaves me holding my breath!

Secrets shared, secrets kept

Summer is coming to a close and it seems everyone has a secret. Some are good, and will lead to happiness when they are revealed. One seems particularly threatening, leaving its holder in misery. Throughout it all, we know that everyone in Stony Point has each other’s back.

Twisting Storyline

How clever that the author pauses and lets us know that there is another book to be released soon. There the answers are on how the characters are doing at Stony Point. Now it is time to wait. I only hope that it is not too long. I want to know how it all turns out.

Oh the salt are cures what ails you! Everyone knows that but it doesn’t seem to be helping the seaside family and friends this time. I love reading about my book family and friends that these characters have become. They hurt, then you hurt. They cry, so you cry! Another great seaside saga, but oh Joanne the ending really LOL, than you for another great book!

Love the beach friends series so much!

I feel like I know and am going through the issues along with the characters in these books. The highs, lows, loves and losses. What was in that letter? The cliffhanger of all so far in this series!!! I want to take a ride under that trestle too! Another 5 star review.

It's almost the end of Summer for the Stony Point gang. It's hot and there are definitely a lot of Salt Air Secrets swirling around. It's almost time for the Grand Opening of the Elsa's Beach Inn and just about everyone is hiding secrets from everyone else. And...just when I thought I was going to hear one of the secrets...it's another cliff hanger! Nuts! I have to wait for the next book!

I am now on book 12 of these series. I do enjoy the series but the books are short and unfortunately the libraries in our area don't have the full series. So I have been purchasing the books and some of the books could be put into one. It is an easy read and is based on the CT shore a group of beach friends. Not sure I will continue with the series.

Just finish the series and stop leaving everything hanging! There is NO conclusion to this book, none. It just stops, like a soap opera episode on a Friday. No one can tolerate the upheaval portrayed in these books for that long and still be sane.

Really good book, enjoyed every page... UNTIL the last page. I understand cliff hangers but there was no resolution to any of the storylines in the book. I would have read the next book regardless of the unresolved issues... feel a little letdown......
