I’ve only read about five books from this author, but I think this may be my favorite by her yet!

Absolutely loved both the hero and heroine. Their romance was just…not sure how to describe it. Ha! However, I really enjoyed seeing Brix fight for his relationship and his love for Adelaide. They have a unique relationship and was more than thrilled by their ending.

The magical aspect of this book was epic! Definitely one of my favorite parts as

It's a ridiculously fun and sweet romance, mixed with magic and mech-dragons. I really enjoyed getting to play with the alternative history in the world-building behind this one, but I've kept my signature complicated fun, family dysfunction, and true love.

Here's the blurb I have (so far!):

Brixton went silent as his chest tightened, his heart clenched, and his fingers shook.
He had only just barely stopped himself.
He had come so bloody close to saying her name.
It was appalling to think after

One Flew Through the Dragon Heart is a good book for a young adult to read, without being overwhelming explicit content; which making us parents, and grand-parents question a book. We have an exciting tale full of Steampunk elements, magic, mystery, intrigue, ancient legends, powerful family ties, action and romance! A villain that becomes a hero, and there is even a dragon!! As a new adventure begins with life in London, from heart

Magic, legends and family curses. Love and heartbreak starts at school. Rembrandt Academy is an elite school for those with magical abilities. Brixton and Adelaide are two of the many students, but they are both at the top of their class. Adelaide is teased continuously by her classmates because of her youth, ethnicity and family connections. Brixton and Adelaide find that together they can create anything. Then Adelaide leaves school. She returns to London 4 years later and they “bump” into eac ...more

Received this book as an ARC.

I enjoyed reading this book, the characters and the story line. It covers a bit of magic, to dragons and the life in London.
It was great getting to know the characters and watching them grow as you read into the story. I enjoyed the flash back scenes as it lets you understand where the characters are coming from and who they are and why they do the things they do.
Love the relationships between the characters too, sibling and family love as well as the romantic love a

WOW! It took me awhile to get into reading it because of outside interferences, but I LOVED the way way the Chinese & British History played into the story. It is awesome how 2 incompatible Magics can work together without killing each other. The trouble Brix & Ada get into then the way they come through it all, is great. The author did a wonderful job writing this book. It is easier to read than most other Fiction books. It sucks you in & you have a hard time putting it down. Could not wait to ...more

What an amazing story that no one should miss out on, once it’s released. Brixton is doing fine as Professor of Wielding instruction. Unfortunately for him , he meets the girl who broke his heart, long ago. Totally enjoyed this book by a fantastic writer.

Put dragon in the title & I have to read it!! This was slow starting for me bot well worth continuing with it. It’s a mystery too figuring out where the story is going. Then there is the romance side. And magic- both good & bad kind. I love how it all came together. There has to be another book & I’m anxious to read It. The author is a favorite of mine. I received a free copy through Bookfunnel.
This is my voluntary review.

An interesting and enjoyable historical, steam-punk story full of magic, dragons, legends, history, friendship, family, loyalty and love.

Brixton Flew is a kind-hearted young man working as a professor at Rembrandt Academy. He also has a knack for getting himself trouble, especially when it comes to Adelaide Favan. When the girl who broke his heart returns and is wrapped up in a dangerous plot, Brix helps her with hopes that he can keep her safe.
Adelaide is cursed. All Ada wants is to be in contr

Oh my goodness! I just finished this book and I don't know what to do with ALL THE FEELS!!!

OK, first, let me tell you a story: when I subscribed to the author's newsletter, this was the book she was working on, and after reading a couple of the #sneakpeeks she included on her weekly messages, I was hooked. However, when I finally got the opportunity to have an e-copy on my hands (fine, on my Kindle app, but you get the point), I really enjoyed it, up until the 6th or 7th chapter. Seriously, I d

This book was quite different than the rest of the steampunk books I have read. We are introduced to a young prop from the esteemed Tech institution in London. He is proficient at magical enchantments with the specialty in machines, his magical watch and why he became a instructor in the institution in the first place.
Like most steampunk it is full of machines and technology however embracing the Victorian world it takes part in the Victorian era because the magic made the world come early to

Our couple has history, not all of it good, but sometimes there is no one else to turn to than the people you know.

I love steampunk with all the gadgets and alternate history bits that get thrown in. This book definitely has all that, plus it mixes in a little magic with the tech to power things. The blending is done very well and fits into the overall setting which is richly detailed. Our characters are also well developed with unique personalities and flaws which make them more real. One Flew Through the Dragon Heart by C.S. Johnson is a steampunk fantasy.

Taking place in an alternate London where a gaping magical portal hovers over parliament.

I loved the magic system created for this story world. White magic and black magic are taken literally in this color based magic system.

This novel also features a great addition to Dragon lore.

The main POV characters, Brixton and Ada were great. With personality and chemistry they make a couple worthy of shipping.

This book is not Ms Johnson's normal genre but she does not disappoint. This steampunk novel has Brixton Flew fighting unknown enemies. He has a talking watch named Tinker. He is a wielder of magic and must use his magic to keep his family safe. There's even a dragon!! His ex-girlfriend comes back into his life and he finds out the truth of her family which she had kept hidden. Do yourself a favor and read everything this author writes. She is incredible!!! “He’s not a machine, Brix, and there’s no need to pretend you know it all when you only happen to know a lot.”

Brixton Flew and Adelaide Favan have, by far,2 of the most fun steampunk characters this year. Nerdy and proud of it, this rendition of London is full of adventure danger, love...and a dragon, a truly wonderful time is had by all. Add a soupçon of Asian mythology, and C.S Johnson has proven yet again that she is the queen of whatever genre she tackles and I’ll keep reading as long as she

I absolutely loved this book. The main characters, Brixton Flew and Adelaide Favan quickly became two of my favorite characters ever!! Happy to say, this story is full of quick witted and fun characters and is a great read. Full of adventure, danger, magic, London, a love story and a dragon. Who doesn't love a dragon! "He was stuck in a hell of sorts, and there was no escape."

What a delicious piece of alternative history steampunk fiction One Flew Through the Dragon Heart was! In addition to an inclusion and blending of Chinese and British histories, there was a star-crossed lovers romance to be enjoyed as well. Brixton Flew and Adelaide Favan met while in school and although their friendship was rocky at the start something did develop between them that was stronger than the forces that divided them, but for the last several years, on Brixton’s side of things, all h ...more

Oh, how I love books by C.S. Johnson. This is my second read from her and once again she's blown me away. I absolutely love steampunk when done correctly, and One Flew Through The Dragon's Heart was captivating.

The romance between Adelaide and Brix is messy and beautiful. Everything I hoped for when I started reading this one. The characters are so relatable, they feel real. Their relationship feels real and it really makes this story that much more enjoyable.
