I love how Naomi's book elicits those feelings so common in travel, of uncertainty as plans go awry, but through her command of situations, luck, and grit she sees her way through her circumnavigation of the globe, sans avion, well aware of her own privilege, but also her calling, to share stories. In a time of so little communal gathering, this book reminded me of that energy that we will hopefully return to, bringing with us some of the same care and curiosity that Goosefeather encourages. ...more

"Goosefeather" is a delight...a smart and snappy account of the author's circumnavigation of Earth by ship and train. It is a cartographic adventure told by a talented story teller who uses her considerable skills to bring the reader onboard as she tours and performs on three continents...without hopping on a plane.

I loved this book. It tells the tale of storyteller Naomi’s glorious romp around the world – by cargo and cruise ships, buses, trains, cars, et les bicyclettes - no airplanes. At every opportunity she dives into the local storytelling scene, opening herself to a fascinating world most travelers do not experience. Related by an open and joyful spirit, I didn’t want the adventure to end. Honk!

I picked up this book intrigued by its cover, by the compelling Naomi herself, and by the promise of something "outside-the-box".
And then, for the next few weeks, I joined Naomi on her adventures. In a time when travel has been limited, and when train-hopping is not exactly the topic on everyone's minds: this book had me imagining myself consulting on storylines in Hong Kong, riding a seemingly endless train across Russia, and of course performing in France.
I'd recommend this to anyone wanting
