Mackenzie Dienes is a renowned winemaker for her husband Rhys Barcellona’s family vineyard. She met him 16 years ago when she accompanied his sister (her college roommate) home for the holidays. She fell in love not only with him but his entire family, which ultimately became the one she didn’t have but always wanted. While Bel Après belongs to the Barcellona family, led by matriarch Barbara, Mackenzie is the winemaker, managing the grapes from the moment they are picked until the wine is bottle

THE VINEYARD AT PAINTED MOON by Susan Mallery is a women’s fiction novel that pulled me in from page one. This is the perfect emotionally intense and ultimately satisfying read to curl up with on your couch wrapped in a comfy blanket with a glass of your favorite wine by your side on these snowy cold days. I read it entirely in one sitting.

I'm not usually a chick lit person but occasionally I do need a "hit". Well, I had my best fix in a long time via "The Vineyard at Painted Moon". Susan Mallery did everything right! She had some great characters, an interesting plot (and subplots) that remained hot like lava throughout most of the story leading to a page turner for me. Those who love this genre will most certainly be fans, too.

This story sure was a treat. A wonderful change of pace, just nice to sit down and relax type of book.
We all know things change quickly in life and the author has crafted a story that reflects on how unexpected changes can actually turn out wonderful as long as you look forward and not behind.

Let me start by saying if you like family drama then you are going to love this book. It is full of family drama.
I loved Mackenzie and Bruno oh least I not forget Stephanie too. But I had such a distaste for Barbara. I hated to see her name on the page.
I was in awe of all the vineyards and the wine all sounded so good.
Mallery out did her self on this one. You are in for a surprise and I was so happy how it all ended.
4 stars and I can't wait for Mallery's next book. ...more

Mackenzie Dienes loves her job as a winemaker for her husband’s family’s winery. But when her marriage ends, she quickly learns that her mother-in-law of 16 years, Barbara, views her as an employee, not family. She has enough money to start over, but needs to find someone to want her not just her talents.
This is a very emotional read with lots of life lessons. I really can’t remember disliking a character as much as Barbara.

First off..... I LOVED this book!
It has been quite awhile since I read a book that was able to make me laugh, cry, gasp, smile and be frustrated. And to actually hate a character! I can't remember a book where I hated a character as much as I did Barbara! Such incredible writing by Susan Mallery to provide all that in one book!

Set in the vineyards of the north west part of the USA, The Vineyard of Painted Moon introduces us to the important roles of wine producing. Chief among them is the winemaker and in this case this would be Mackenzie Dienes and she works for her husband's family business. And... she is really good at her job, passionate to be precise.

Another great story by this author! I love that Ms Mallery's words are so easy to glide through and her stories always keep you wanting more. This one was no different!!

Susan Mallery’s books make my heart happy. So–not surprisingly–The Vineyard at Painted Moon was a pleasure to read from the first chapter all the way through to its sigh-worthy end.

I have been interested in wineries and vineyards since a trip we made a trip to Napa Valley a few years ago, so I was intrigued by Susan Mallery's newest novel, The Vineyard at Painted Moon.
Mackenzie is a well-respected winemaker at her husband Rhys Barcella's family vineyard, Bel Apres Winery, in Walla Walla, Washington. She met his sister Stephanie at college, and they have been best friends ever since. All four of the Barcella adult children live on the grounds of the winery, under the caref ...more

Mackenzie Dienes life is just perfect. Well, almost. She never had a good relationship with her own family, but once she married Rhys she learned the true meaning of family. Not only had she been his sister Stephanie's best friend for years since they were college roommates, she found a mother in Barbara, their mother. Mackenzie also drew close to Rhys's sisters Lori and Catherine, who chose to be called by the name of Four.

I love reading Susan Mallery's women's fiction. It deals with friendship, family, finding your place, new beginnings, and following your dreams. Mackenzie is an orphan, who loses her only family member, her grandfather just before college. When she gets to college, she is rooming with Stephanie Dienes and they become fast friends. Eventually, Mackenzie marries Stephanie's brother Rhys and begins working at the family winery. After 16 years, Mackenzie feels she has found her place and her family.

This book is all the feels! It is beautifully written about family dynamics, friendships, and expectations. Mackenzie Dienes appears to have it all - a beautiful home, best friends, and a successful career as a winemaker at one of the best wineries, but it’s not her family. All of this is tied to her husband, Rhys, and when they decide to divorce she leaves with a postnuptial agreement and her clothes, everything else belongs to her husband’s family. Mackenzie is fearful of change, but is re-ene

This is one book that is definitely going onto my 'comfort books' shelf. That's not to say that this was a comfortable read; it was not, but it was an excellent read! Definitely, a chick-lit sort of book, with the added bonus of learning a bit about winemaking and what it takes to run a vineyard. I had to Google several things to understand precisely what the characters were talking about!

Terrific book about love, family, and new beginnings. As the book opens, Mackenzie communes with the grapevines in the family vineyard. She is the head winemaker with a stellar reputation in the wine community. Her husband, Rhys, arrives just in time to remind her of his mother's big shindig that they can't be late for. We get the first hint that things aren't quite right between them when they retreat to their separate bedrooms to get ready. The rest of the family is introduced a short time lat

It's been what feels like eons since I last read a Susan Mallery book. Mallery is one of the first authors that I binged on when I got back into reading women's fiction after years in school. Reading The Vineyard at Painted Moon was a great reminder why I fell in love with her storytelling all those years ago.

The Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery has Mackenzie Dienes living and working at Bel Après. She has been married to Rhys Barcellona for the last sixteen years. Her family is his family since she lost her parents when she was a child and her grandfather right after she graduated from high school. The one thing that she has wanted is to own a piece of the winery, but the proves to be elusive. The matriarch of the Barcellona clan, Barbara holds tight to the reins. She controls all aspects o

I really felt for Mackenzie in this one. At the start of the book it seems like she has it all, but upon closer inspection it's all surface. As she starts to loose things she realizes that. But she is strong and finds her way, so when the book ends she knows she has it all and all the things she went through was worth it. She is doing a job she loves, doing it her way, is with a man she loves and who loves her back and knows what the most important things in life are. She has a friend who has wh

Good but the ending seemed abrupt. While the ending reveals where the characters are, it leaves a transitional gap that made me feel unsatisfied. The "villain" doesn't change even through plenty opportunity;

Mackenzie Dienes is a very talented winemaker, who has been married for a number of years to Rhys, one of the owners of Bel Après Winery. His mother, Barbara, is the real power behind the winery, and she makes it abundantly clear that spouses will never be owners in this family-run winery. Mackenzie just wants to be part of the family, and she and Rhys are more roommates than spouses, as they haven’t shared a bed in five years. They finally reach the point where they realize that there is more t

I loved this book. Loved everything about it. The storyline, the characters, especially the characters, the life lessons presented and learning about vineyards and wines. I did not want to leave the lives of MacKenzie, Bruno and Stephanie. I’m already hoping for a sequel.

This book made me think about life lessons we learn along the way Mackenzie loves her job with her husbands family winery. When he marriage falls apart and she discovers her MIL views her as jus an employee. How does she move forward. This vineyard is part of her dream too.
