Brighton Academy #4

Unapologetically

Rate this book
I have loved one boy my entire life.
Finley Abbot.
Too bad he's never shown a single sign that he feels the same way. What's that saying? If you love someone set them free? Letting go is the hardest part, so when Xavier comes into my life I give it a shot. It's not like Finley will ever want me.

I'm a phony. An illusion meant to fool others into believing that I'm the playboy, rich prick. No one knows the facade more than her.
Tinsley Yates.
I've been pushing her away for years to protect her from my dirty secrets. But when he shows up, treating her like she's his, like a queen, I can't hold back anymore. He will learn not to touch what's mine.

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

Unapologetically is the fourth book of the Brighton Academy series by Cala Riley. Told in dual perspectives, this was one hell of a second chance romance.

I have been waiting for Baby Yates aka Tinsley's book from the moment I read Unbidden. I thought she was going to have the second book of the series , but it seems like cala Riley was saving the best for the last!!

We finally get the happy ending for Tinsley and Finley in this book. From the starting of the series I had given up hope that Finley would be able to pull his head out of his ass and finally admit his feelings to Tinsley , but the author did a good job of shocking me in this.

Tinsley is the youngest of the Yates siblings. To say that she had been sheltered for her whole life would be an understatement. Her older brothers were very protective of her and she had always been monitored by them. So when they all left for college , she was relieved to have her final year without their probing eyes.

Finley is the best friend of the Yates brothers. Bith Tinsley and Finley have known each other since their childhood. Tinsley has been in love with him for a very long time , but every time she tried to approach him , he shot her down either verbally or by making out with some other girl. Finley was really an ass at times.

For Tinsley her final year is not going good as people are now bullying because her brother's are not their to protect her anymore. That is when she finds another person who decides to help her out. Xavier is the complete opposite of Finley and both of them soon start dating. However it doesn't take long for Tinsley to realise that Xavier will never be able to hold her attention like Finley did.

Finley is a decent guy with a lot of problems in his life. Most of them , he doesn't even share with his friends because he feels he will be burdening them. When he sees Tinsley with the new boy, something changes in his demeanor. Between jealous fights and kisses both Tinsley and Finley become close. Finley opens up to her and we finally get to know how much he is suffering. However there are still a lot of problems for them to date. Tinsley's brothers being one for sure. Now it's up to Finley to finally claim his girl and show her brother's that he is here for the long haul.

This book was an amazing contemporary romance for me. The storyline was quite plain , but enjoyable nonetheless. It is recommended to all the contemporary second chance Romance lovers!

Unapologetically the fourth and final book in the Brighton Academy series.

In the final book, we get Finley and Tinsley's story. A story of a long time loved but denied feelings. After trying to convince Finley of how she feels for him seems to be a losing battle Tinsley device it is time to move on. Xavier seems like just the guy to get over her broken heart with.

Little did she know the pandora's box she was opening. With Xavier in the picture, Finley knows he can no longer deny the way he feels for Tinsley or he will risk losing her forever.

A delicious finally to a great series. It has so many of the feels and tropes that I love in a romance. friends to lovers, brothers best friend and first love. Such a fantastic read.

The fourth (and in my opinion) best book in the Brighton Academy series brings you Finley and Tinsley’s love story.

Tinsley, the girl always known as baby Yates to everyone is never taken seriously and all she’s ever wanted is for Finley to notice her as more than his best friends little sister.

Finely, that guy stole my heart in this book. I’ve loved the glimpses we got of him in the other books but this time we got to see his vulnerable side, the side that no one sees and he broke my heart.

The chemistry between these two was explosive and I loved every minute of their story.

An amazing conclusion to this series! Loved it so much

As soon as this book hit my kindle I dropped everything and got stuck in! I have been waiting in this book since Unbidden, book 1 in the series, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

From the previous books in the series, we know that Tinsley's brothers are super protective and its great to get her side of the story. Also, to see just how in love with Finley she really is.

Finley was amazing. After reading the first three books, you could tell her was protective of Tinsley but it always looked like it was because her brothers demanded it.

I absolutely loved this book, like seriously everything about it was amazing!!!

For her it's always been Finley Abbot, the one and only boy she wanted to claim her heart. But she is certain it is a one-sided feeling, he isn't shy about sharing his escapees with other girls or flaunting other girls in her face. Not to mention the fact that he is her older brothers best friend, so that alone makes him forbidden to her. But her heart doesn't seem to care about any of that, it beats for him and him alone, and she's tired of keeping her love for him a secret. She wants him and she will stop at nothing to have him.

That is until Xavier comes along... he is everything she should want in a boyfriend, and he is willing to give her the world. Now she has a little dilemma on her hands, two boys vying for her attention, one she knows could be dangerous for her heart, the other she knows will treat it with care. Now she must decide which one is worthy of her heart?

Unapologetically ties up the Brighton Academy series perfectly, shining a light on it's youngest heroine Tinsley Yates and the boy who stole her heart, Finley Abbott. These two were doomed from the get-go it seemed, everyone thought she was too good for Finley, and her brothers didn't want her anywhere near their friend. The proverbial forbidden line and all, but she was tired of being treated like a child, wanted to be her own person for once, making her own decisions, so she decided to go against what was expected and go after what her heart craved. This wasn't an insta-love story, there was a lot of push and pull between these characters and many obstacles in their way. Finley kept letting things cloud his judgement, and was afraid to open up to his friends and tell them what he really wanted. These two did a number on my heart, often making it feel like it was in a vice, but eventually healing it and inspiring it to soar. From beginning to end this one held my full attention, I just couldn't let these two go without knowing their fate. It was such a good story, it was emotional, captivating, steamy, and heartfelt... a perfect ending to a unforgettable series! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

A perfect finale to a wonderful series. Unapologetically is heart-gripping, romantic and emotional. The writing style is easy to follow and expressive and I found myself reading it in one sitting.

The characters were well developed and relatable. I loved how the relationship between Tinsley and Finley developed. They've known each other since they were kids, and somewhere along the way they're feelings for each other turned to something else. But Finley always kept Tinsley at arm's length acting as her protector and nothing else. He has his reasons to keep his distance, but that doesn't mean it's easy for Tinsley to see him parade other girls in front of her. The love she feels for the boy who's always been there to protect her if need be, is unconditional but that doesn't mean she shouldn't try to find happiness with someone else. And Xavier might be the best person to help her forget about Finley.

The story was told from dual POV which for me is always more entertaining. The action was fairly paced, with enough angst, sweet moments and plot development to keep my interest until the end. Tinsley transformed into a fierce and strong-willed young woman. I loved seeing her evolution throughout the series. She might still be a 'baby' in the eyes of her brothers but she's perfectly capable of making her own decisions and assuming responsibility for her actions. The moment Finley opened up his heart to her, Tinsley became determined to fight for their relationship no matter what her brothers might think. There were so many tender moments between these two, but also a lot of heartbreak. Finley's life wasn't easy. He was keeping a secret from his friends, a burden he was carrying on his shoulder from a young age. What he didn't realise is that his friends would be there for him no matter what, because he is part of their family.

The epilogue was everything I wanted. Everyone got their happy ending and i loved that the final scene was reserved for Reid and Sage. I'm sad that the series is over but there are some secondary characters that piqued my interest and I'm hoping maybe someday Cala Riley will make them shine in their own story.

Unapologetically was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. I’ve needed this book since Unbidden, the first book in the Brighton Academy series. Finley and Tinsley had me in love with them during their dance in the parking lot, I mean swoon all the way. But I also hated Finley and may have mentioned driving him off a cliff. There was just no way to make him redeemable after everything he’s done.

Finley Abbot is the definition of more than meets the eye. It took one line from this book to have my loving Finley more than I hated him. There’s a reason Tinsley’s heart never stood a chance against Finley. He is everything you never expect from him. The carefree playboy we hate just might be the guy you love the most. My heart broke for him more than once. I wanted to hug him and tell him it would all be okay, and at some moments at the same time I wanted to slap him upside his head.

Tinsley Yates is one of my favorite heroines. She definitely worked hard to take Sage’s place as my number one. Baby Yates is so many things, some we knew some we did not. There were times I loved her for her strength and other times I yelled at her thoughtless moments. But with Tinsley she’s always being told what to do, and what to feel. She wants to be her own person. She doesn’t want to be Baby Yates she wants to be just Tinsley Yates.

Finley and Tinsley have this pull towards each other. It doesn’t matter where they are or who is around they only see each other, the problem is one of them wants to fight it. But with the kind of connection they have it really can’t be done. Tinsley Yates was made for Finley Abbot, and Finley Abbot was made for Tinsley Yates.

Cala Riley just delivers pure perfection and magic with Unapologetically. They deliver a beautiful, heartbreaking plot with just phenomenal writing. Unapologetically is my favorite book from Cala Riley to date. There is so much heart and soul in this story, you can feel it. They took a character I hated and made me love him beyond words.

Unapologetically is the perfect conclusion to this series. I cannot think of a better way to see them go. Cala Riley definitely saved the best for last. Finley and Tinsley are more than worth the wait! 5 stars for Cala Riley and Unapologetically!

Brother's best friend, off limits, friends to lovers, sweethearts, first secret crush, stolen kisses, real feelings. That's Unapologetically is. It's a really tender love story. Sometimes frustrating, but still addictive. Beside the obvious romantic part, I like the main characters background, what's in the shadows, what is not for everyone to see. What makes them imperfectly beautiful. And I won't lie. At the beginning of this series I wasn't Finley"s biggest fan ( yes, each book can be read as a standalone), but now after Unapologetically, I changed my mind. And that's what I liked the most. Seeing his fragility, but also his loyalty. Oh, and of course his dirty mind!
It may be a forbidden love story for a thousand reasons, but it still written to make you dream.
Something about the heroine? She's far from a doll, easy to break or control, and is neither a baby. You'll see a really determined teenager.
The slide characters. Still nice to meet them again. And there is also someone I would have liked to punch for real.
Turning back to the main story is sweet but coated in mystery.

On the fourth book of this series we get to know more about Tinsley and Finley. We know a bit about Tinsley and Finley as they are secondary characters on previous books, but we finally get to read their book. Their Love Story.

Tinsley has been in love with Finley her entire life, But he push her away every change he had how? By being a douchebag towards her. The only thing that Finley need to see how he really felt for Tin was someone else in the picture. Their love wouldn’t be easy as they have obstacles to over come.

I recommend this book for those who Like YA with a HEA.

I have been waiting on this book I knew Finley and Tinsley were gonna be a mess be oh so hot. Finley has issues we knew that but had no idea the depth of them. Tinsley has her own issues with her dad and Reed and them always controlling her life. I was really surprised that she really tried dating and Xavier was super sweet but they had no chemistry. I was super excited that Finley got his crap together and threw her a amazing 18th birthday party that he knew she would absolutely love! These two are adorable together.

This was the perfect ending to the Brighton Academy series. Although I wouldn’t say no to a novella with point of views from each character further in the future!

Finley had beyond so much more going on with him than I ever imagined. To grow up like he did, I couldn’t even imagine. It takes an incredibly strong person. Not to say he didn’t make mistakes, especially with Tinsley.

I’ve loved Tinsley through each book. Being the youngest of the group is beyond hard & being without your core group of friends like you’d grown used to? Even more difficult. I admired her so much at the end, standing up for herself!

I wanted to bang Keaton & Reeds heads together near the end. They didn’t act like brothers to Finley at all. But they redeemed themselves, kinda. I wish there was more to what happens with their Dad & Xavier.

I’m really going to miss this family. Because that’s exactly what they were. Family.

I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

This is the 4th book(last part) of the Brighton Academy Series by the author.

Tinsley has been in love with Finley since they were kids. But she thought he never reciprocated the feelings. Relinquishing her feelings, she started going out with Xavier. But the turn of events made Finley accept his feelings for her.

The story is perfect ending for the series, with endearing characters and wonderful plot with everyone having their happy endings

Finley and Tinsley's story.
[Their name rhymes 😍]

Their story is 😭

Tinsley is Reed and Keaton's baby sister.
Like any overprotective brothers, they make her off-limits to everyone.
Whereas Tinsley has been in love with Finley Abbot for as long as she can remember.
She wants him to see her for herself, but Finley honors her brothers' wishes and never reciprocates her feelings when, in reality, he also loves her...

Tinsley is one character whose development can be seen clearly.
When she first introduced in Unbidden, she is a shy girl.
On top of that, she is overly protected and sheltered by her brothers.
Throughout the series, I can see very clearly how she changes from someone who cannot express her feeling to someone who can.
She becomes one strong woman who knows what she wants and chases after it and I adore her for that!
Finley Abbot: one mysterious guy, he is.
Since he was first introduced, he appears laid-back, happy-go-round guy, similar to Keaton.
However, he hides a very sad truth from everyone.

I love seeing Fin can open up to Tinsley.
Their relationship is one of the sweetest ones in the series.

And the epilogue is 😍😍😍😍😍

What an brilliant series! Unapologetically is the perfect way in ending the journey
I love seeing every couple grow throughout the story.
Yes, they have been through many things, some harder than the others.
What I come to really love about this series is that You protect your family
From the first book, when the Yates accept Sage as one of her own until this book I feel these characters' connection to each other is only getting stronger.

Thank you so much for an amazing story!

If you only get a chance to read one series this year then 'Brighton Academy' should be at the top of the list. Cala and Riley have produced a spectacular series and for someone who had never read YA romance's before these stand alone (but I would recommend you read them all) have opened up a whole new Genre of book! So thank you Cala Riley.

Although this is supposed to be the last book in the series; here's hoping that Xavier gets a story 😜

"The demons inside haunt us. Control us. We put on a facade to hide the darkest, cruelest parts of us, but every once in a while, they show through our eyes"

It was only fitting that Tinsley and Finn's story was the last. These two have been dancing around each other since the start of the series. Well Finn has by blowing hot and cold —using the excuse that he is only looking out for Tinsley because she is his best friends sister (although only 9 months between them).

Tinsley has loved Fin since she was 8 year's old but there comes a time when you have to say 'enough is enough' and to get on with your life. Tinsley tries to move on and the first thing is to accept a date from the new boy at school but of cause it's that old story just because Fin can't man up about his feelings that doesn't mean it is alright for Tinsley to date someelse.

If only it was true that Fin only saw Tin Tin (as he loves to call her) as friend but he holds and secret and darkness inside him that he doesn't want Tinsley to be tarnished with.

This is a story of young love, of missed opportunities and having to take the world on your shoulders at an earlier age forgetting that you had friends there all along to help you with your burden and one woman who would stand by you no matter what!

Unapologetically by Cala Riley is my first Cala Riley book. Unapologetically can be read as a standalone but it would be beneficial to read the first three books so you aren’t lost.

Being that I did not read the first three books I was a tad bit lost on who was who but I caught on pretty quick. Unapologetically is Tinsley and Finley’s book within the series. From what I gathered Tinsley and Finley have been dancing around each other for years to a point but Finley always pushed her away.

I did find myself forcing myself to read certain parts of the book because my attention would be lost. But I would gain it back within a few pages. Tinsley tries to move on but apparently she is still caught up on Finley. While the story was decent and had its moments, I felt it was forced in some places. Now, do not get me wrong, Tinsley and Finley most definitely have chemistry, it just felt off in some places.

However, once we learn more about Finley things start to make much more sense. I can say for certain that Tinsley and Finley are a great couple when Finley gets his act together. The only issue is Tinsley’s brothers.

Overall, Unapologetically was a good read and I am looking forward to more by this author. I may go back and read the first three books so I have more of an understanding of Tinsley and Finley’s relationship.

She has loved him for years. He's everything to her, if only he could see it.

He promised her brother he would protect her, be there for her, but on a strictly hands off basis.

How long can she keep waiting, keep hoping before it's time to walk away ?

I've loved all the books in the Brighton Academy series and this the last book completely and utterly stole my heart.

Tinsley is the baby of the group, the younger sister, the vulnerable one. She's the only one left at the academy now.

My heart bled for her. I wanted her to shine, step out of their shadow and rule but kids are cruel.

Her heart belongs to one, and I loved that she wasnt fickle she stayed true. She fought for him.

Finley almost broke me with his secrets and downtrodden thoughts. I wanted to hug him and help him. Reassure him and claim him.

He might think he's broken goods but I saw so much more in him. Just like Tinsley.

There couldn't of been a better conclusion to this series. I've laughed, I've cried, and I've given each couple my heart.

This has been an unforgettable journey. One which I will treasure forever.

I believe that Unapologetically is my very favorite story in the Brighton Academy series.  We've read about how Tinsley's brothers are very overprotective of her, so I was glad to actually get her story now.  She loves Finley (close friend of her older brothers) with all her heart, but she was convinced that it was all her since he was always throwing other girls in her face, which had me all kinds of pissy towards him.  Just when I thought my head was going to explode, a boy named Xander comes on the scene who will treat her like a princess.  He's the type of guy she should want, but there's all those pesky feelings towards Finely Abbott in the way.  It made things more complicated since the heart wants what the heart wants, and yet, Finley still isn't earning her so the push & pull is on.  Hell, I truly thought there were so many obstacles in their way that I couldn't see a way around it to be honest.  So, did Tinsley get what her heart wanted so badly?!  Hit those one click buttons to find out!  HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Alright guys, if you have read the first 3 books of the Brighton Academy Series (and if you haven't, GO READ THEM FIRST), you have been on your tiptoes waiting for the series finale like I have!! I have been waiting for Tinsley's story since book 1, and she really got a hell of a story now that her brother's are all gone from Brighton Academy.

This series as a whole takes you through so many loves, hates, enemies, friendships, good choices, bad choices, love and heartache - and Unapologetically wraps it all up in a way I couldn't have even imagined! This book is seriously so good, and you won't be able to put it down. If you like a good friends to lovers romance, brother's best friends romance, coming of age romance, academy romance, and unbelievable series, this will be worth your while. Cala Riley (better known as the two writers Cala and Riley, who teamed up for these incredible books!!) really hit the mark with this. I highly recommend, and you are going to want to make sure you have a good stretch of time so that you don't have to stop reading midway!

Unapologetically is the 4th instalment in the Brighten Academy Series, we finally get Baby Yates story;
I have been hooked on this series from the very beginning.

Tinsley has been in love with Finley for years, when her father starts interfering in her life she has to decide what she wants for her future.
Finley Abbot has been hiding pieces of himself from his best friends for a long time; when everything comes to light and he finally admits that he has feelings for Tinsley, has she finally moved on and fallen for someone else?

I personally loved this story, I feel like Cala & Riley have been building their story since the beginning; their chemistry is scorching. Finley is so much more than what I ever thought he was.

Tinsley and Finley’s story was well worth the heartache and wait. Unapologetically is the fourth and final book in the Brighton Academy. It’s super sexy, heartbreaking, emotionally draining, and just such a good ending and read that you will love it like I did.

What I loved the most is the woman that Tinsley turns into, she becomes her own person from her family and brothers shadows and stands up for herself in a way that she creates her own identity and it’s so well written and empowering!

Finley is a more damaged character, his back story will completely crush you. When I read it I was heartbroken for him, I don’t want to ruin the surprise and spoil anything but his character will destroy you.

As the final book in the series it’s a really good send off and a read that left me satisfied and obsessed. It’s a five star rating for me and one that’s well deserved for the ending it gives us!

This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is the youngest of the Yates siblings Tinsley and Finlay’s story. Tinsley had led a sheltered life with overprotective older brothers, and Finley is their best friend, and Tinsley has loved him for years, yet he continually pushes her away to protect her. Now starting her final year Tinsley finds herself getting bullied with no brothers there, and when she meets Xavier, who is the total opposite of Finley, they start dating. Will Finley find himself being challenged to reveal his feelings for Tinsley? This is a beautifully written tale which is an engaging and riveting read throughout. I cannot wait to read more form this author and I recommend her work for all.

It’s Finley and Tinsley’s turn. I mean even their names rhyme, they are bound to be perfect for each other right? Yes, yes they are, but Finley has a lot of demons keeping him from letting himself be happy and he spends a lot of time pushing Tinsley away.

My heart hurt so bad for Finley. The things he has shouldered as a child are unimaginable. The burdens her carries, and all alone are enough to bring a strong man to his knees.

Lucky for him Tinsley doesn’t want anyone else and is waiting for him once he gets his head on straight.

This is book number four in the series and the one I wanted to know the most. Tinsley and Finley are amazing characters. They pull you in and keep you reading till the end and that ending hell yes it was epic!

I love how Tinsley kept showing her feelings for Finley even when he shot her down. She had her brother's there to protect her. SO when they go off to college Tinsley gets picked on and she finds support in Xavier. Only Tinsley still can't get Finley out of her mind. SO when the two find themselves in a situation and together Finley doesn't hold back and he let's her know how he feels for her.

What will Tinsley do? Stay with Xavier or give her all to Finley?

Firstly, I was not expecting this to be a teenage romance.  Second, the lives these characters lead are messy and complicated.  And third, I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would once I realized the characters' age demographic.  Not only is it about misconstrued unrequited teenage love but it touches on many aspects of both the good and bad aspects of life from mental illness to family dysfunction, connection and the toll and consequences it can take on such a young person.  Highly recommend reading Unapologetically.

The story I have been craving!! Tinsley's story finally!! I have been getting glimpses of Tinsley's story throughout the first three books of this series. I knew it was going to be emotional and gritty. This story gave me more than I expected. I love all these characters but I was drawn to Tinsley, the best friend everyone wanted to have and the little sister everyone wanted to protect. How she broke out of the mold that was created for her was the true story. I highly recommend this series and book. I loved, loved, loved it!!!
