This was a good prequel to the start of the Ashes to Ashes series. I am brand new reader to Annie Anderson's work and I have to say I was hooked into this story. Which then lead me to read the actual first book of the series. ...more

I loved the Phoenix Rising series, so to go back and read the prequel was a real treat. I really enjoy the character in this series. After Enemy Kissed, I wished I could read more about the happenings in the fourteen hundreds. I am not one to read a lot of historical romance, but I would definitely make an exception for this. What a great warmup for the series!

I enjoyed the book. I liked that the characters were working towards a goal. I like the acknowledged strength and power of the lead female character - always a plus! Good editing and world building. A nice introduction to the series.
