Giant Robot Warriors

Acclaimed writer Stuart Moore (Lone, Zendra) and hot artist Ryan Kelly (Lucifer) present a political satire for the 21st century! Meet the U.S. Department of Giant Robot Warriors -- an underfunded, overburdened team that has to jump into action when a tiny Middle Eastern country suddenly achieves Giant Robot technology. Rufus Hirohito, head of the GRW, has his hands full with a temperamental boss, an attractive CIA liaison, and a robot that's just not ready for combat. And hey -- just what's wrong with the President, anyway?

Picked this up a few years ago, read it yesterday. A fun, biting satire of the post-9/11, early George W. Bush years. For those of us who remember those years (uncomfortably), this should strike a chord. At first glance, Ryan Kelly's art looks unnecessarily crowded and messy, but in reading it, I didn't find that at all. The book actually looks great, and I would have loved to see it in color.
