A broken marriage.
A broken heart.
A broken home.

Brayden and I have everything going against us.

I’ve been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
Divorce or death.
I have no clue what comes first.
But they both feel the same.
Brayden still has my heart.
And I have a feeling that he wants to keep it.
Will he fight for us and give our love a second chance?
Or is this the end of an era for our family?

A full-length second chance in marriage romance, this one is a well of emotions that takes you through a couple’s journey of love, hardship and the rays of hope that keep them going. Reread 1/9/2022…

Marriage in trouble, this is a stressful story, with a wife with major health issues, a workaholic husband and very young children. He’s controlled by his need for financial security and she resents that the family suffers because of this. Her health issues are a wake up call, but she’s not trusting him to prioritize their family over work. It’s a rather melancholy story.

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads.
=======================
Both have issues and despite the setbacks and lack of communication between them, the two manage to make it to HEA.

At least I thought he was still muscular. I didn’t see his body too often anymore. I couldn’t remember the last time we’d had sex. A few weeks ago, I caught him in the shower masturbating.

I couldn’t remember the last time I got laid. My sexual release now came in the shower with the help of my hand.

Now we didn’t have sex, and when we did, it was quick, quiet, and not very satisfactory. It wasn’t that she wasn’t attractive, because she was. Yes, she wasn’t as put together as she used to be and she carried more weight, but to be honest, I liked the curves.

We drove forward, paid for the food, and drove off without him realizing that I didn’t have the one thing I’d asked for. It was a metaphor, I decided. I was invisible to him.

The few times I called after seven to check on him, she’d been the one to pick up his phone…his cell phone.

I blamed his long work hours, but he blamed my attention to the kids.

We hadn’t had sex in forever, a sure sign that something was up compared to how often we did it before. Why hadn’t I realized that?

She leaned over to point to another paper on my desk. Her scent filled my nostrils, and her blouse flared open slightly. It occurred to me that if I was a different sort of man, I might try to take advantage of that. Johanna was a beautiful woman, and when I first hired her, I’d gotten the feeling that she might have been open to extracurricular work with the boss. For a long time, she volunteered to stay late when I worked after hours.

An amazing second chance romance. This book will take you an emotional roller coaster ride and when you get off, you will be spent. Terra and Braydon were having some issues in their marriage and they wanted to give up. Will they be able to walk away from each other or can they find the love they once had? Great story. Loved it.

This was a reread, but i didn't like it as much this time. I thought H was an asshole and honestly very self-absorbed in certain situations. I could just be moody, though😅

Ajme Williams has written a beautiful and emotional love story that will have you cheering for these characters from the very beginning. Imperfect Love is well written, has a great story line and wonderful characters. It's a second chance story full of twists and turns, angst, heartache, insecurities, fear, sadness, turmoil, drama, guilt, doubt, anger, hope and true love.

I think this is more of a 2.5 stars for me due to the drama in the latter half of the book. I do enjoy reading stories about marriages or relationships that have hit a snag or a low point and how a couple works to overcomes this, however I feel like a lot of the books I've read with this topic don't do it for me and this is one of the books.

At the start the issues and distance between them was something they were both complicit in due to their own issues from childhood. The heroine's mother died when she was young and that left her with this insecurity that nothing good lasts forever so when things start to go downhill in their marriage she puts up a wall to protect herself. The hero was very poor growing up and was sometimes homeless and dumpster diving for food so now he has issues with financial security and is paranoid that something could happen and he won't be able to provide for his family so he overworks. There's also the fact that neither of them communicate with each other and make assumptions on what the other one must be thinking.

Sex also seems to be an issue or a lack of in their relationship. The heroine feels insecure because of the new weight she carries after two kids and thinks her husband doesn't find her attractive anymore, but the hero thinks the heroine doesn't want him and wasn't enjoying sex with him anymore so he stopped trying, which then makes the heroine even more insecure, it's a vicious cycle. I also feel like these two hadn't accepted that relationships change after kids and you have to work harder to make time for yourselves. There's a part where the heroine goes to call him down for breakfast but he's masturbating in the shower and thinks to herself there was a time she would have joined him but not now, and he thinks the same thing, but it's like you can't do that stuff anymore because you have two kids waiting for food not because you're not attracted to each other any more.

So the heroine finds out she has cancer, tells the hero and this works as a wake up call to be better and be there for his family. They have a talk, spend some time as a family, go out on a date, have sex and vow to do better. These two should have booked themselves into couple counselling because they and especially the hero had issues bigger than lack of communication, like his paranoia and the amount of projecting he does. After a few days, maybe a week of things being okay they go to shit again and this time no matter how much the author tried it, it was not an equal both parties complicit thing, this time it was on the hero.

This guy takes time of work twice a week to be there for his wife chemo sessions and gets the kids ready for school in the mornings, but other than that nothing changes. He works even more and is barely around his kids and when his wife points this out he starts whining that she's not recognising all the work he's putting in for her. This guy wants an award for taking care of the bill payments and doing one thing to help with the kids. I also feel like the kids weren't a big priority to him because the heroine was worried about the lack of time he spends with the kids and how this will effect them if she dies and so she's asking him to be there for them but he's bitching about why she can't see how much he's doing for her. When the heroine is talking to the kids about whether or not she might die, they question who'll take care of them because daddy is never home, but the hero is more concerned about his employees.

I don't blame the heroine for feeling like she's had enough and instead wants to focus her energy on battling cancer so someone can be there for the kids and she also doesn't want to waste what time she has left on this earth on a man who isn't making the effort. Was ignoring his messages petty? Yes, but lets not act like sending text messages to you wife is you showing her you care, teenage boys do better than that. Even when it looks like he's understood how much he's fucked up after going to the support group and how much he's neglected his children, he still can't take accountability without pointing fingers. He's doing the whole you won't meet me halfway to his wife thing and it's like motherfucker she did try and you did jackshit so now you have to go the extra mile. The heroine takes a week to tell her dad about her cancer and to spend sometime away to get her head straight which was very understandable to me and a good idea, but he makes her feel like a bitch and makes it all about how sad he was.

I don't think the hero was a bad guy, I think he had a lot of trauma that he hadn't worked through that was creating the core issues to the marriage and he needed to see a professional about them because at one point he even throws the bills of the cancer treatments in his wife's face. The reason why this book and a lot of books like this one don't work for me, is because I don't see this as a both sides issues no matter how much you twist it. This is the second or third book I've read where a guy spends more time at work than with his family and knows this is the reason for their issues, but then blames their wife for their defence mechanisms.

Terra was selfish and childish to me. She and Brayden owned the company. If she was so concerned why did she not go back to work to help him a few days a week. The kids were in school. They did not communicate like they should have with each other either. He always had his past in his mind and he did not want his family to be in the situation he was in all those years ago. The way she accused him of cheating was wrong. If you felt that bad about yourself you sure did not try to make any changes. You had time to go walking or to the gym. You had the money. Then she yelled out her diagnosis which was very childish. I don't think he should have sold the company if he was happy with his work. He should have moved Kyle up and delegated more duties. The book was ok but I did not really feel the love of a couple who were once in love. Terra should have been going to the support group also.

Great second chance

Wow!! I really liked this story about second chances and putting your marriage back together. I liked reading both sides of what happened in their marriage and how they are both dealing with it. Then everything changes but stays the same. The twists and turns and the honesty of what I would think a real marriage would be like.
Loved this story would read it again.....

I'm not sure what to say about this book.
Huge lack of communication by both which led to issues.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating, though accusation made.
HEA.

Ajme Williams has written a 5-star book that has the main characters dealing with their lost feelings for each other. Terra and Brayden started a company together and after their kids, Lanie and Noah were born, Terra stayed home to care for them. Now both kids are in school and it seems like Terra and Brayden have lost touch with each other. Terra feels like Brayden doesn't want her anymore since he is never home. He misses dinners and when he does come home the kids are already in the bed. Terra has just found out she has breast cancer and she doesn't tell Brayden about it. She is thinking that she will end up dying like her mother so she is wanting to get her stuff in order. Terra goes to see Brayden at his office and she sees him with his assistant and she thinks the worst about him. They get into an argument and she asks him "are you having an affair with her?" he tells her no that she is the only one he wants. As she is walking out the door, she yells at him that she has stage 3 breast cancer. Brayden is shocked by this news. he tries to get to Terra but he is too late. He watches as she drives away. When he gets home, they talk and she tells him that she has already set up the treatments and they are to start the next week. He tells her that he will be there for her, but things happen and he doesn't always make it. On the day she hears if the treatment has worked Brayden is to be with her but he doesn't show up until the end of the appointment. She is tired of coming in second especially with what she id dealing with now. Brayden doesn't know what has gone wrong with them and he doesn't want to lose her. Brayden has come up with a plan to get him and terra back to where they were before but he is not sure it will work as he wants or in time.
Will Terra and Brayden give their marriage another chance?
Will Terra beat cancer?
This was a heartfelt story that brings two people back together by way of a health scare. I would recommend this book to anyone.

He works too much. She only has time for the children. What happens when a real crisis occurs?
I can’t believe how great this book was! I couldn’t put it down. It is very realistic so a warning goes out for any woman or man who has had to deal with marriage complications during a cancer diagnosis, and especially breast cancer. There were moments in this book where I actually sobbed. It was so distressing. Beautiful and poignant exploration of a marriage dying due to “everydayness” until something even worse develops. This book begins with a very painful prologue…
Terra Burrow cares for her two beautiful and bright children: 6yo Lanie and 4yo Noah. Although she used to be a highly praised professional, she chose to give that up to stay home with her children. She has put on a little weight and doesn’t feel as attractive to Braydon. She assumes her husband feels the same b/c he works so late and MAY be having an affair with his admin. She and Braydon rarely talk and never have s** anymore.
Braydon works his butt off to keep the bogeyman away from his family. He grew up poor, even homeless at some points. That will never happen to his family. He adores them, but he’s never at home b/c he’s making the money to allow his family to live well. He’s still a very handsome muscular man at 34yo, giving rise to Terra’s fears of his philandering.
I must admit as much as I loved this book, I became very irritated with Terra at times b/c she wouldn’t communicate her feelings and then when she did, she was (in her words), “a petulant teenager.” But of course, this is a very realistic narrative. I can see any of this really happening. Flash backs are used to show us how they were together before children. This was a captivating, steamy and realistic story and I volunteered to review an ARC of it through Booksprout. It comes highly recommended and it gets more than 5 Perfect Stars.

ONE PHENOMENAL ROLLERCOASTER!!!
Astonishing! Ajme literally takes my breath away with this heartfelt and emotional whirlwind, presenting a beautifully composed and compelling approach with such a refreshing spin, binding it all together with a gut-wretching storyline and engaging plot, wrapping it up flawlessly. Braided, bound and entangled, showcasing the explosive ups and agonizing downs, grounding in it's strength and awe-inspiring in it's depth. A tumultuous wild ride of terrifying trials and arduous tribulations, exposing the shocking twists and wicked turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they've never envisioned. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, booting this gem into a tempest, bursting it into a hissy with a prize winning culmination. A multitude of unsettling mishaps and happenstance, rock this jewel to it's core with drama, intrigue, turmoil, misunderstandings, unnerving, spiraling anxiety and confusing situations along with a boatload of misconceptions, you have one mind-blowing experience. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are written with such realism, impressive passion, imagination and unique insight, blasts this sparkling jewel wide open, making the storyline pop. Amazing job Ajme, thanks for sharing this treasure with us.

Imperfect Love By Ajme Williams

What an emotionally heartbreaking yet beautiful rollercoaster ride. I was in tears in more than one part of this book.
Breydon and Terra Burrow were instantly drawn to each other from the moment he started at the company she worked for and where she was his boss. They risked everything to be together even going against company policy. Finally he set off to start his own company and asked her to come with him. Eventually she joined him and they built a extremely powerful successful tech company. When she becomes a mother she chooses to be a stay at home mom. Eventually their once hot romantic marriage becomes less and less. Kids, house errands and weight gain are her life whereas work and even more late nights at the office are his life. Resentment, lack of communication and feeling unwanted has caused major problems in their relationship. Then she discovers something that will devastate her whole world.
I heart hurt for both of them at different times in the book. They also both drove me crazy at times as well. Their journey through the trials and tribulations was tuff and heartbreaking yet beautiful once they came through to the other side.

Five heartbreakingly beautiful ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Real marriages need nurturing to succeed

Terra and Brandon are married, but they have drifted apart. She is a stay at home mom, busy taking care of the kids. He is active with the business they started together, works late a lot. Their marriage is on autopilot; they are just going through the motions.

For various reasons, neither of them bothers interacting with the other in a meaningful way in their daily lives. Marriages fail from neglect; their marriage is almost in its death throes.

This book is one of the best-written depictions of a marriage in trouble that I have read in a long time. It deals with the real events and failures that pull a relationship down. Fortunately, the author handles the challenges the couple faces in a sensitive matter.

Read and find out how this tale goes. I laughed and cried. This glimpse into a troubled marriage is a well- written novel, not a short story that has no time for character and plot development. There are times of deep despair and times of great joy. You do not want to miss reading this excellent novel.

Written for mature audiences, the sex between the husband and wife is sizzling (and graphic.)

I received a free ARC copy of this book, hope to read many more of this author’s work.

I received a copy of this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we get Terra and Braydon Burrow. These two have been married for years now and somewhere along the way they lost sight of each other. Terra stays at home with their 2 children and Braydon works at the business they helped start together. In Terra's eyes Braydon is there for her or the children he is always at work. Braydon sees it as ensuring their future and making sure his family never has to go through what he went through as a child. Terra isn't sure what to do about there marriage and goes to a lawyer to discuss her options. That all changes though the day she gets the same diagnosis her mother got when she was a child. Can these two fix their marriage and be there during the most difficult time in their marriage or is the end of not only their marriage but one of their lives?

This is another amazing hit by this author. She really draws you into these characters and you will find that you empathize with them as though they are your friends. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say you will go on a journey unlike you every planned on in a book. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I loved reading Imperfect Love by Ajme Williams because it was such a beautiful story about getting a second chance!! Terra and Braydon were married with 2 small kids. Braydon was working so much at the company that he and Terra had started years ago. Terra had stayed home with the kids. Their relationship was on the rocks at this point in their lives because Terra went to see a lawyer about divorce proceedings and in all of this chaos, she finds out she has breast cancer. When they were first dating and even married, they had such passion for each other and it was oh so steamy!! Each of them has insecurities about each other and each of them has to face them in order to move forward. I loved this story because it was real and raw about tough things that people normally don't like to endure. I cried at several parts because in reading this story, the author tugs at your heartstrings with real and raw emotions for the characters. I highly recommend reading this story. It was so worth it because you sometimes don't get second chances, but when you do, they are a miracle to make things right again.

5 IMPERFECT stars!!!

OMG! I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. It made me cry, swoon, and laugh at the same time.

For me, I know a book is perfect when it tugs my heartstrings. And this book did more than that.

Terra and Brayden were the most realistic married couple. You could see their love for each other even though their silence.

I connected with Brayden to a whole deeper level. I love constantly working. My biggest fear is being financially unstable. So I resonated with Brayden over his constant juggle between family and work.

Terra was the most understanding Heroine. God, she did everything for her family. I cried for her, for her broken marriage in this book.

The little ones - Noah and Lanie - are the cutest little munchkins. Some family & marriage books just leave out the kids and I hate that. The emphasis around the kids is a real depiction of how a marriage with kids works.

This book captured every essence of marriage beautifully- the tension, the fights, the love, the special bond with children, the lack of time & sleep, the struggles of everyday life.

I love this book so much, and it is definitely one of the most underrated books I have read.

Definitely Recommend!!!!

I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Ajme captured my breathe with this phenomenal book from the beginning and I was trying to guess and pray for certain outcomes until the very end.

There was insecurities, fear, loss, love, determination, deduction, laughter, friendship, in sickness and in health and love.

Brayden and Terra defeated the odds of getting together as it was not allowed when they met. They had shared dreams, goals and determination that brought them through initial obstacles. But somewhere along the way, as it can happen, they lost themselves and one another.

Then the one thing that should have brought them closer tote them up more because of their already fractured relationship. However, Brayden refused to admit defeat and sought what he needed to personally heal to work on healing them.

Mental health is important and shouldn't be overlooked because often times even things from your far past can/will effect your present and future.

Two thumbs up!

I have enjoyed reading Ajme’s books and always look forward to the next one. Braydon and Terra’s story did not disappoint. It was so heartbreaking and heartwarming. I had a few moments of being ultra frustrated with both of them, but like all things, patience is a virtue that I learn even while reading. At times I thought their relationship would not survive the many curveballs being thrown their way. Their individual pasts contributed largely to how they reacted and acted in the story. It took self-discovery and some rude awakenings on both their parts, but they persevered. There may have been a moment when I thought heartache would be added to all the emotions I was feeling, but Braydon and Terra had their happy ending plus a happy surprise added to the mix.

While I did receive an advanced copy and understand that final edits have not been made, there was an expectation that the grammatical errors would have been fixed and the conventions of punctuation almost complete.

This book is probably one of the most real and touching stories that I have ever read. It was difficult to put down and will stick with you long after you do. It is a cautionary tale about what happens in long-term marriages when life gets into a rut and communications break down. A husband who works all of the time. A wife who is immersed in taking care of the house, the kids, and everyone around her. They talk about the kids, the meals, the house, and they never really talk about anything with each other. Then fate comes along and drops a bombshell with a capital “C” – Cancer.
Will the marriage survive? Will SHE survive? Will they learn how to really see each other and truly communicate before it is too late? Can they fall back in love again? This book answers those questions in a way that will have you laughing, crying, and cheering in equal measures. Combined with some truly steamy lovemaking scenes, this book is a captivating read that is highly recommended.

I cried over this one, and I don’t cry

Terra thinks her marriage is over. She and Braydon have been quietly drifting apart since the children came and their business took off. She even goes as far as consulting a lawyer. But everything comes to a screeching halt when she finds a lump in her breast. A lump just like her mother had and didn’t survive. Now what?

Braydon has been working to build their business. It’s wildly successful but he has trouble feeling secure because of a childhood that often left him and his mother homeless. But when he finds the paperwork from the lawyer Terra consulted, he’s floored. How could they have drifted so far apart? What can he do to fix everything? And that’s before Terra tells him about her diagnosis. Can this marriage be fixed and do they have the time to fix it?

I was hooked from the first page! This is my fourth book by this author and by far my favorite. Terra and Brayden are married and have two children. They started a multimillion dollar company together and Terra decided to be a stay at home mom while Brayden worked long hours keeping him from being with his family. Terra feels the company is more important to Brayden and even sees a lawyer about divorce. What happens when she finds out she is facing a health crisis and how both her and Brayden handle it makes for a wonderful story. So many feelings and how lack of communication can potentially destroy two people who love each other. I highly recommend this author, her stories just get better. She certainly has a fan and I can’t wait to see what journey she takes us on next!

This book was completely shocking from the start. Terra and Braydon weren't as united as they would like. They couldn't have a conversation without arguing and didn't even sleep in the same bed anymore. Once Terra discovered that she had stage three breast cancer she couldn't find a way to tell Braydon. Braydon would come home late hoping to be with Terra. He had no way of knowing that Terra had breast cancer until she told him out of anger. When Braydon finally came to his senses and realized what was happening he was terrified of what the breast cancer could do to Terra and the family. When Braydon and Terra finally see what they have is important will it be too late for them. I received a free copy and reviewed voluntarily.

WOW. Imperfect Love will blow you away. This is a story that will leave you taking a good hard look at life. The story line deals with a couple who build a life and business together and begin a family. Like so many of us we get swept up in everyday life and neglect the ones we love and one thing leads to another and the next thing you know you seem to be drifting apart. Terra and Brayden find themselves in this very situation along with news that will rock their world.
Ajme has once again written a 5-star story that will grab you from page one and won’t let you go. This book will take you on one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride so grab your tissues because you will most definitely need them.

Imperfect Love. This book was awesome! I was so captivated and inspired by this story. The story had my heart twisting and turning, but filled with sooo much emotions. Brayden and Terra have to handle so many obstacles in their marriage. Some they created themselves, and others that just became a part of life. How they handled the situations was truly amazing! I laughed and cried through the story. Anyone going through changes in their marriage might want to read and grasp a fill for what can happen. This is the first book by this author that I've read, I absolutely loved it. I even had a bout of the feelies, thank you Ajme. Distance between a couple makes for hard times, hurt feelings and miscommunication can pull them apart, no matter whether or not the two of you are still in a loving relationship or not. Braydon and Terra have been married for a few years, have two wonderful children, live a beautiful life, but have drifted apart. All I can say is, get this book and give it a read, but do not forget to have a box of Kleenex, cause you're going to need it.

Oh wow, I think of all this series, this one is the most emotional. Terra loves her husband Brayden but feels as if her marriage is drifting apart... not good. What makes it worse is she has just been told she has Breast Cancer. A very poignant story for me as now in remission from lymphoma, so certain parts brought memories back for me.
An emotional rollercoaster of a story I couldn’t put down. Their fight to fight for their marriage, love of their children and fight to live was so heartbreaking and heartwarming too. Loved every word and even though it made me cry at times, so honoured to have read it
