The World’s Top Photographers’ Workshops is a dynamic series that brings big-name professional photographers together in a roundtable-style format. These artists discuss and explore the fundamental technical aspects of lighting, composition, color, tone, and imaging. Stunning images and in-depth interviews plus checklists and tips-and-hints panels make these books beautiful as well as practical. Fashion and Advertising, the first title, offers hardworking advice plus image portfolios combined with the photographers’ comments on their influences and signature styles.
Amazing photos and insightful interviews by some of the top fashion photographers. However the interview style itself doesn't lend itself too well to actually teaching us much. Sure enough, the answers are interesting but the budding photographer wanting to learn something new from the book will come away disappointed. Also the 3D workshop mockups at the end of each interview were a bit corny and questionable in their usefulness. Recommended for the pictures and background stories of how some of the photos were created, but not so much for getting to know how to become a (better) fashion photographer.
Great book with some awesome insight into the works and techniques of big-name photographers (like Solve Sundsbo!) in the fashion and advertising industry.
There are some really good set-up discussions on important things like lighting, which one can never have too much information about!
