Get a little taste of what my YA books have to offer with a Pithy Pooka: a series of complete, standalone shorts.

Girl + guy + three days = greatest love story ever.
Yeah, right.

Jess Clayton had no interest in romance. The teen cynic was convinced it was all a ruse made up to lure you into stupidity and part you from your hard-earned pennies. No matter how many people asked

Short and completely filled with Australian slang. But I enjoyed the Shakespearean and other parallels/commentary.

The blurb is what drew me in. The brilliant storytelling is what kept me entertained from the very first page until the very last word. Both skeptical of love as it pertains to the famous Shakespeare couple of Romeo and Juliet, Ryan and Jess are paired together on a rather unconventional school project. These two characters are hilarious! I found myself chuckling at their witty banter and sarcasm. The dialogue between the two of them as well as that between their teachers and their various frien ...more

Stevens is always at her finest when she's writing YA fiction. Though this is a short story, only ten chapters, it still captures what Stevens does best. Writing's great, and the banter is even better. Very interesting concept, even if the actual real-life execution of it would not be all that plausible. Of course, the characters in the story even go into the fact that it seems like the "experiment" would be breaking all kinds of rules or codes. Just by working that into the story makes me accep ...more

Okey, so this is a really cute book, but for me it ends to soon! I need more, I need to know what happenes! 😁

I would say it's a story for 13+ years. It's goofy, it's romantic, it gives me blushes in all the right ways.
It's about Jess and Ryan, whom both have been burned by love, being tossed together to explor romance in litteratur.

I have been given a chance by the author to read this book for free for my honest opinion. If you like romance, this is for you.

Cute quick read. Got me hooked as I've been discussing Romeo and Juliet with my students. Very witty. Jess and Ryan's banter is adorable. Interesting the role reversal. Nice to see the boy more vulnerable(recent breakup) and the girl more dominent, more of a tomboy.
It comes to an end much too quickly. Would love to know how it works out for the couple and their buddies.
Recommended for older teens due to some strong language though nothing they wouldn't use themselves!!

A cute and funny read with two main characters that captured my heart while they try to make sense of the concept of falling in love head over heels - as a school assignment. With both Jess and Ryan convinced "that can't happen", the story offers some highly entertaining twists and insights on the play that inspired it.

From "awww" to "chuckle" to "laughing out loud" - all the ingredients are in there for a light summer reading.

Abrupt ending

The story is really cute and goes in to such detail in the begining of the story but it just ends and doesn't give u a good ending I mean the the girl gets the guy but it leaves u hanging on their story..... What happens with them I was excited to see but bam it was over.... Boo on that

The teachers at a boys school and a girls school get together and organise a camp to study Romeo and Juliet in an innovative way, to pair 2 students together and see if they can fall in love in 3 days, just like Romeo and Juliet did. I loved the witty repartee between the 2 main characters and hope there is a follow up book to finish their story.

Writer. Reader. Perpetual student. Nerd.

I started out writing fantasy. But, I like to write anything, honestly. These days, I mainly stick to YA and there's always at least a sprinkling of romance, if not a 'whoops, I dropped the whole packet in'. Almost all my books are set in my home state of South Australia, either in real or fictional places - gotta write what you know - with Netherfield being
