No matter how fast they run… …time is running out. Can the Creekside Crew reach their friends before it’s too late?
There are some things scarier than zombies. For the people of Fort Ross, it’s the raiders who have arrived on their doorstep. Kate and her companions are their only hope. But the road to Fort Ross isn’t easy. There are wildfires . . . . . . and intelligent alpha zombies. Can Kate outmaneuver the alpha zoms and get to Fort Ross before it’s too late?
Fort Dead is the 4th and final book in the Undead Ultra series. I love this series and its characters. I'm sorry to see it end. But one great thing about books -- they can always be read again!
Kate and her rag tag family of zombie apocalypse survivors faces a new challenge in this final book. A band of evil bandits is threatening one of Kate's friends she met months before. Alvarez is at Fort Ross about 200 miles away from Kate's group. But when she hears he needs help, she knows she has to help! Can Kate and a group of her Creekside survivors make it to Fort Ross before the gang of bandits starts killing people? Sometimes surviving people are worse than the zombies!
This last book has so much action and emotional moments. Some characters survive....some do not. This was a re-read for me, but it was just as emotional for me this time as it was the first. When reading zombie stories, I always tell myself not to get attached to characters....but I always do. There are a couple scenes in this book that make me sad.....and some that make me really proud of how this group of characters pulls together to get through the worst situations. Awesome zombie series!
I'm hoping Camille writes at least another short story....or even another book.....to revisit these characters. I'd love to know what happens to Reed. Or Bella. Ben. Kate. Carter. Jenna. Alvarez. Jessica. Heck....even Medieval John! Everybody! In the meantime, I'm moving on to enjoy Camille's other zombie series, Zommunist Invasion!
]I listened to the audio book version of this story. Very entertaining! Great narrator who really brings the characters and action to life!

You’ll love this last installment of Undead Ultra because the stakes are higher than ever.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Undead Ultra 4 follows Kate and her crew from Crestcreek as they try to get to Forg Ross before their friends fall to a fate worse than the zombies.....a horrible gang set on turning them into slaves. Picot does a great job of coming up with interesting predicaments to put our group in as well as creative and dangerous ways to save themselves. The characters are further developed and we learn even more reasons to admire and care for them. I received a copy free ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was a great conclusion to a great series! If you enjoy zompoc lit I would highly recommend it. I really enjoyed the characters and sharing parts of their journey with them. The challenges they “ran” into were surprising and kept me guessing how they were going to survive yet again.
Another excellent part to this fly by the seat of your pants, exciting zombie adventure! I love these books as I always enjoy them so much! Great characters, brilliant story lines! You couldn't ask for more! I do strongly recommend this writer & always look forward to the next one!
I really enjoyed this series. I was so disappointed when I realized I had read the last book. It was an intense, on the edge of your seat series. I hope there will be a book 5.
Loved reading more on Kate, Ben, Jessica, and the rest. Maybe there’s a little wiggle room for book 5? The entire series is awesome and entertaining. A perfect pandemic escape.
Of the four Undead Ultra books, Fort Dead is the best of the bunch, the non-stop action and character interaction make for an entertaining tale. This episode continues on following Kate and her crew as they head toward Fort Ross to assist Alvarez. Along the way they encounter some unexpected challenges as well as encounters, to say more would provide spoilers and I’d hate to be one to spoil anyone’s experience with one of Camille’s stories. If you have read/listened to the previous stories this episode is a must experience. Once again Gwendolyn Druyor’s narration makes the audiobook version really come to life.
I'm still not getting tired of this series. Unfortunately, this is the last of the main books in the series (at least - hopefully - for now). The story line manages to ramp up a level or two for this thrilling climax. I had read some criticisms about some small aspects of the series not being realistic. I have to admit that I did not find anything jarringly out of place or beyond reasonable explicability.
I still have to read a side story in the series, but there is clearly plenty of fertile ground in the Undead Ultra world for another few books.
I feel as though i am saying goodbye to old friends. I laughed, I cried and I got angry. I miss those that didn't make it and so on. I truely love the foreboding of one of the key characters and hearing a panoramic view of the battle and just all around experience of this zombie apocalypse. Very well written with heart and soul. Again, i will miss reading this series and the characters i have grown to love.. I only wish the bad guys got to suffer more before they got theirs.
The entire Undead Ultra series is a good read. Fort Dead is a great cap to the series. Well written, exciting and fun, this book returns to many of the themes that made the first book great. It also brings a climax to conflicts between some of the major pro/antagonists that have been growing over the last few books. A fun and entertaining book.
It was the last book in the series but I’m hoping that the author will not stop here. Everything tied up with a bow but... what about the other runner who ambled off? Another story in the pipeline?Recommend all the books and enjoyed reading every one of them.
I really hope this isn’t the end. There’s so much more here. Reed. Where is he? Is he safe? Bella. Will she let her demons go? The fort. Will they rebuild? Will creekside establish trade with other communities?
I need more. I must have more.

Wow!! This series just gets better and better. I love the characters and the story line. The story is fast paced and incredibly engaging and sooo hard to put down. This is honestly a series you will not be disappointed in. It’s a must have.
These books have kept me so scared, happy and sad. I lobed this series. Now I want to learn to run. The strength and courage among the characters made the story so intriguing. I highly recommend this series!
It’s a really great zom-poc story but it’s also pretty sweet and heart warming!! Definitely give this book series a try if you have any interest in zom-poc stories. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story telling was wonderful. I got so engrossed that I forgot to stop until the book was done. The family got stuck with ramen noodles for dinner. I hope to find more books by this author very soon.
The approach to gender roles in this series has always been complicated, but the problems crystallize here in the character of Jessie, who I have a really hard time spending chapters with. This book is action-packed though, and actually has stakes, so that’s nice.
Who would have thought that a book about an ultra runner and zombies would go together. This is a great series. I am really hoping that there is more to this series
I know this is probably sounds weird for some, but I just really like this story. And if I can read another instalment to find out what happened next? Great!
I couldn’t put this book ( or the others in the Ultra series) down, and I was sorry to finish it because I want to read more about these people and this world!
In Fort Dead (Undead Ultra Book 4) the Creekside Crew is continuing their journey to Fort Ross to help their friends who have been besieged by a crazed drug lord and her cronies. As the hours tick by the outlook for their friends become grimmer. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but I will say this – you will be pulled into the action immediately and you won’t stop rooting for the Crew and the residents of Fort Ross as you burn through the pages. I think I read Fort Dead in about a day in a half, I was so eager to see what happens next. If you are a fan of the series and have read Undead Ultra 1-3, make sure to have some tissues nearby in certain parts of this book! The main protagonist. Kate, is one of my favorite characters ever. She is smart, has let life’s deepest lessons shape her without taking her out, and totally kicks ass! Kate has good heart at the same time. She is a true Mama Bear and will do anything to protect those dear to her heart. I can’t wait to start this series all over again, reading it all the way through from book 1 to book 4!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
When I first saw the line “No matter how fast they run…time is running out” I could not wait to hop into this story with both feet. Fort Ross is under siege and the Creekside Crew are in a race against zombies and time to get to Ford Ross. They have their hands full and not everyone is going to make it through this battle.
I was glad to see that Alvarez is back and I hoped that both Kate and he make it through to the end. This is the last book in the series and of course there are those that won’t make it to the end. But the action and battle go on.
There as so much action that I could not put this book down. I mean you have a crazy drug dealer on one side and alpha zombies on the other. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place!!
I absolutely love this series and recommend checking it out. You can purchase the books on kindle along with the prequel Dawn Patrol. You can also find books 1-3 and the prequel on Audible. I can’t wait to listen to Fort Dead on audiobook. I am now a big fan of Camille Picott and can’t wait to read anything else she has.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.
